Thanks so much for this video! I had no idea I had accidentally pressed this button while trying to start my dishwasher. I thought my machine was broken! Now it's running and I can wash dishes again! I can always hand wash them of course but having a dishwasher helps you get a lot more done at the same time!

Thank you so much! I looked at the manual and it said hold the lock button for 3 SECONDS...and it didn't work. Only when I came here and saw I should hold the Lock button until the light went off (approx 5-6 seconds) did it go off. THANK YOU!!!
Cool just worked for much older generation that has no indication of this only high temp wash , energy saver dry options, held this for 3 seconds fixed the issue with control lock , big thanks could not locate user manual after 20 years, :)

Thank you for this info. While my model is different and the buttons are on the front, I did find one that said Hold for 5 Seconds, etc. This I did and it released the Lock Light. Thereafter it ran just fine. Thank you for saving me a lot of further problems!
Why in the world would you have a feature that locks the dishwasher? It adds no value and It's just going to get turned on by mistake and the frustrate the user.
You need it because kids mess with the controls all the time! A three year old is perfect height with the control panel. Also, my daughter 14 year old autistic daughter kept turning it on too.
@@cherimallory6970 Have you found a way to run it with the lock? My son will open mid cycle and cancel it. Haven’t found how to start it with the lock turned ON.

I tried holding down the 4 hour delay button. Still the dishwasher is in control lock. I hate this dishwasher. I wish I could disable the control lock because pushing the 4 hour delay button or any other button does not release the control lock. Both my daughter and I have the same dishwasher and hers has been in the lock position for almost two days. And we have been holding the button down all day. Mine gets stuck like this all the time.
Is this some kind of "safety" feature? Getting info from the Kitchenaid site is very tedious and not worth the trouble. I bought all of my appliances at the same time... all Kitchenaid. It will never happen again. Thank you for this video. I opened and closed the door a few times and it finally worked.

It surely has a lock for children who love pressing buttons and screwing up your stuff. Or a disobedient teenager who doesn’t follow directions and washes half full loads cause they too lazy to walk around the house and collect dishes from other lazy people.

Thanks - our dishwasher is a different model but the concept worked. Why isn't this is the manual and why is this even a thing?

can you tell me how do you tell where in the wash cycle you are at when you have a front panel on your dishwasher. you cannot see the light to tell.

No it didn't work for me, I have a different model. It those not have Un lock featured button but it has the Lock Light.
hold control lock above the lock symbol 5 seconds..I have a silver model and this worked better
