This is very cool Kyle, I'm a 80s kid and Heman, Gijoe, Transformers, and Voltron I fell in Love with this is Awesome and brings back the Golden years of being a child ❤
After reading about all the horror stories from backers, I decided to redirect my package to a nearby pickup location about five minutes away from my house. My package had some dents and bruises but it didn’t look too bad; I also haven’t been able to really open it and take a look because once I remove it from the shipping box, it’ll pretty much be impossible to put it back. As of now, I still have absolutely no room in the house to keep it so I pushed it up into our garage attic by myself which is where it’ll probably remain for quite a while until I can figure out an alternative. That was fun pushing a nearly 50-pound package up a ladder. No way it’s coming down without help. I still don’t know what the hell I was thinking getting this thing!
It really is a shame that Mattel handled the packaging on these so poorly. Like you said, this is a very expensive, premium item! It was also so annoying seeing so many other people saying, “It’s just a box, get over it!” Some collectors just don’t get it that there are also collectors that like the way things look in the packaging, the artwork, etc. Especially if you need to move in the future or something (which many people do), still having the box that something came in makes it easier to transport. Even though my intention is to eventually open everything, I still like to keep the empty packaging, if possible.
Anyway, on to Eternia itself: man, it really is such a massive play set! I’ve been waiting to see reviews to see if it was indeed worth it, and it sure seems like it! It was one of the very few MotU things I never had as a kid. My parents drew the line on it, and I certainly understand why; I wrestled with the decision myself. It looks like a lot of fun though! I can see my kid eventually playing with this and having hours of fun (with supervision, of course)! Perhaps we’ll do our own unboxing and review someday (a few years from now, lol)! I had no idea that there were different monorails you could choose from to move around on the track. If I’m not mistaken, I do seem to remember Mattel saying that the track could be reconfigured to only move around the Central Tower to save some room. Maybe you could show that in a follow-up video.

Very disappointed that those guns on the single carrier for the monorail are hollow. That's some tacky looking BS for a 600$ playset.

No room for me to get this but glad it has turned out well for those who did get it. Important for the masters line for this to be successful. I like that it scales well with classics and masterverse. They should’ve pushed that more than they did as I say they could’ve got more backers.
Great Review! Did you get the chains for the Snake Tower? I notice you didn't have those on. Yours came with a large piece of cardboard between the art poster and tower boxes. Mine didn't have that. That piece of cardboard would have been helpful to save my holographic poster from getting creased. Glad you addressed "the elephant" and the fact that openers/non-openers all want to keep/display the boxes, especially for this price. It's important that Mattel sees that in high-profile reviews. They made this beautiful holy grail playset and then crapped all over it by not protecting it properly for shipping.

I'm going with the theory that the boxes on these are being damaged by delivery guys who are still salty that their parents didn't buy them the original Eternia playset for Christmas back in the day.

Okay so here's my honest opinion on it. As a child of the 80s I loved Motu. I had the original Eternia which sold for around 80 bucks back then. And if I'm being honest I didn't think it was worth the $80 back then and I sure as heck don't think it's worth the 500$ plus now. Honestly the best part about it is the central tower and the monorail the other two towers are pretty much useless and for the size of that thing and how much money we paid for it back then and now I honestly don't feel it's worth it. For what you pay there isn't much in the way of features. Personally I think it was a shameless cash grab by Mattel capitalizing on the nostalgia of 80s kids who didn't have the chance to get one back in the day.
Feels like we need a By the Power of Peterson shirt or something along those lines.

I would love to keep my Eternia playset box. But it’s either the box or I don’t have room to display the playset with all the figures and vehicles. But I did frame and mount that awesome poster inside!

Great unboxing and review. My box and poster were pretty damaged but luckily Eternia itself was ok and it is really awesome to finally have it in hand.
I got mine today. A little crease on the back but was happy mine was in good shape compared to what I've seen.
Fedex needs to take some of the smoke for the damages but not all.

The price just wasn't right. My 5 year old collects Origins because he fell in love with my originals as a toddler (yes, we play with them). He has Grayskull and Snake Mountain, but this was just too pricey to me. I'dve probably gone as far as $200. I understand it's offsetting production costs for a small print run, but it was just too much. Looks cool, though.
I hope they do a more reasonable Fright Zone.

Apples to oranges, but Classics CG took a lot less cheap shortcuts and looks and feels quite "substantial" compared to anything Origins I've seen so far.
