    After riding a variety of small scooters over a number of years in Thailand (110 - 160 cc engines) I bought an ADV 350 about a week ago. Here is my verdict in the context of your own excellent review:
    1. First thing I noticed whilst riding the new bike was the high and wide motorbike handlebars which immediately eliminated that hunched up position I became used to on small scooters - and I am about the same height and weight as you Jake. My posture whilst riding has improved overnight and this also improves your confidence on the road and the pleasure of riding. I think the improved posture and upright riding position is also the reason my wife keeps saying I look 'really cool' on the new bike 😆
    2. Yes, the filtering is not so efficient at times due to the larger size but the time you make up on the open road more than compensates for any time lost filtering - at least up here in Udon. Instead of skulking around at the side of the road worrying what the cars and trucks are going to do I just pull right over to the fast lane and hold the lane with confidence knowing I can pull away from 99% of the other vehicles at any time. This is not always because my bike is faster than the cars but also due to the way Thais drive, hesitant and indecisive - by the time they make their minds up I am gone
    3. As we are in constant contact with the road surface, the difference that the Showa forks and suspension makes to the quality of the riding experience can not be over-stated - my wife loves riding pillion now due to the smoother ride and never bottoming out the suspension - in fact, the suspension on this bike is actually improved with a pillion passenger
    4. I would find it extremely difficult to go back to a smaller scooter now - the only reason I can think of is if I knew I was going to live solely in Pattaya with it's extreme traffic congestion, for the rest of my life. As this is not the case there is no way I am ever parting with my ADV350!

      That's awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience. 👊🏼
      I think the ADV 350 is perfect for Udon. Traffic is light duty compared to Pattaya and Bangkok. I'm currently in Nong Saeng, a 35 minute ride from Udon helping Gig renovate her house. I love my ADV 160, but if I make this my home base I'll be buying the ADV 350. The open roads, and the winding hilly terrain in this area is delightful to ride. ADV 350 power, ride quality, and storage would add much joy to the experience.

    I’ve always been a pcx150 guy, after a trip to Chiang Mai in 2017 and renting one for three months I went out and bought one when I got home to the states . I enjoy riding it so much I ended up selling my Harley street glide , last winter I rented the pcx 160 in Phuket for three months and my plans when I arrive there in a couple weeks was to do the same, but now I may just rent the ADV 160. Thanks for the great review !

    I live in Bangkok. Currently using Nmax 155. I'm torn between the ADV 160 and 350 variant for my next one. The 160 is the much more reasonable pick. But my partner and I always take the chance to go out of town every holiday and the 350 will make our trips more comfy. This is a hard choice indeed. Thanks for the insights, very helpful. Well, I only just bought the ADV160 for my 2 sons to use and we also have the NMax155, so we have to time share the two bikes so there is no fighting over who uses which bike! I have ridden them both and there is no comparison, the ADV is way better than the NMax in most respects! The only problem with the ADV for me is it's very much more upright and no easy rider position with legs forward, but overall the ADV is very well put together! We just paid 104,000 baht!

      @@kimoneil7739 No, this is only the second day of ownership and so far 52 km on the clock! It's very smooth to ride and until now, have only taken it to 80 kmph while running in! After the 1,000km service, we can try more! I suspect it will be just fine on the big roads! I think we we likely buy 2 more and go for family rides, all 4 of us together! Apparently, tuning is available if you need more power, which we don't! I have ridden bikes all my life and 54 motorcycles from 400 to 1,000cc have passed through my hands until now, so I do have the experience to see the ADV 160 is a great ride! We RV a lot, and as I age, I wish for a scooter I can do both the back roads and run into town down the highway on one with the wife. I love the simplicity. And loading it on the RV would be a lot easier.

    New subscriber, I have the Click 160 for Pattaya, it's great. I'm about 70Kg and it pulls away from Sukhumvit traffic lights quite fast, If I go from Pattaya Tai towards Pattaya Nua its good to leave the cars and trucks behind at the lights, toyed with the idea of an ADV, but around town, to me the 160 Click is perfect.
    I live in Wong Amat and in recent years the amount of traffic has increased dramatically, with the mass ( Chinese, Indian, Russian ) group tourism, and the buses that brings, bikes are essential in Pattaya.
    I put YSS springs in the forks and a YSS adjustable shock on the rear, transformed it, no more floaty feeling at the front, I have the ABS model with discs front and rear, good stopping power with such a light bike.

    • @JakeSnowLiveSimple
      @JakeSnowLiveSimple  24 дня назад

      A dual-visor open-faced helmet is the most comfortable for everyday riding. I only wear a full-face helmet when riding big CC motorbikes at highway speeds when testing high-speed performance. Open-face helmets allow more airflow and give better peripheral visibility, which is much better for hot, congested city traffic.

    Nice review! I upgraded from a second hand 2018 NMax to a new ADV160. For Bangkok riding mainly around Sukhumvit, the ADV is perfect.
    We only take the car for highway trips so we have zero need for a bigger bike. BKK traffic is too hectic for a 350. But if we lived in a province I'd look at the 350 for sure.
    My girlfriend hated the NMax as it killed her cooch any time we hit a bump 😂 We both love the much better suspension and smoother ride of the ADV160.
    I'm 6'1 and feel great on the ADV. I've ridden 125 and 160 Clicks but hate the seat angle where I feel like I'm always falling forwards and my knees hit the front.
    Got a 55L aluminium top box on the back, which I know decreases the pu$$y magnet rating 😅 But who cares, it's a scooter in the end, and I love the functionality.
    I agree about the clicky turn signal button! But otherwise it's a good looking and well made scooter. The dark matte red is the best colour by far, so you chose well there too 😉

    Nice comparison, Jake. Im thai and I live in Bangkok. I am buying one of these bikes and you actually saved lot of my time. I'm a programmer and I only go out to gym with my sisters ( they are twins)
    I was thinking if the 350 would be easier for me to carry them but after watching your video , I imagine dragging the bike through the traffic with the weight and it's a "hell, no"
    One thing I would like to ask you is what's your thoughts on AVD 160 vs Nmax ? let's forget about the price, what's the offers that one can offer and the other can't?

    • @JakeSnowLiveSimple
      @JakeSnowLiveSimple  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! That's a great question. I should do a comparison between the ADV160 and NMAX. The ADV160 has better ride quality and handles bad road conditions much better. The NMAX feels like a small scooter with its covered and narrow handlebars, while the ADV feels more like a small dirt bike due to the wide handlebars and seating position. Comfort and rider confidence go to the ADV160, while refinement goes to the NMAX.
      Function is always more important than appearance. However, while I think the XMAX is one of the best-looking scooters, I think the NMAX is one of the ugliest-looking scooters. The ADV160 looks much better.
      They are both very good scooters, but It's the ride quality that's the big stand out factor for me.

  • @Slip3ry

    ADV160 if you plan on living in Bangkok for sure-100%! The 350 for anywhere else in Thailand; Reason being that the AFD350 is just too big to be lane splitting in between cars in Bangkok, thus you constantly getting stuck in that horrific BKK traffic. I’ve warned you :)

    I have the Aerox 160. had some mechanical problems, so tried the ADV 160. Compared to the Aerox, suspension is way smoother, that is an enormous difference! I live also around Pattaya, and some roads, try the left side of railway, can give you bumps. Brakes are also in another league. Bit more comfort in the ADV. BUT, the Aerox is more sport, and I miss really something in the ADV : acceleration! Not only to turn on a road, but also to go through the traffic, between cars. The ADV is a bit larger, to go in between. For longer distances, the Aerox, may be sport and fun, but it is also more tyring, than the smoother ADV 160. Now my Aerox is made in top condition again, but trying to sell it, and then buy a ADV 160. My Aerox is from 2017, hope somebody is interested.

      @JakeSnowLiveSimple  Год назад +1

      Thank you! I haven't done a helmet review. That's a good idea. I use an open-face 3/4 helmet in Thailand, primarily due to the heat. I have a full-face helmet that I rarely wear; it's extremely hot. The quality overall is not as good as I can find in the US, but I am riding at much slower speeds in Thailand. The cost for one of the best 3/4 helmets is usually less than $40 every place I've been. I personally avoid riding at night in busy tourist areas. All of my close crash encounters have been at night in those areas. Alcohol, tourists riding scooters and chaotic traffic.

    Great review, to the point. Can you give me advice - I am thinking between ADV 150, Forza 300. Would Adv150/160 be ok for occasional longer ride e.g. Bkk - Samui with sleep overs - 70-90kmh speeds. or better to go with Forza - also I will be driving it the most on the islands, e.g. Koh Phangan, where off road may help little bit? Adv350 is not an option since it is expensive, looking into 2018-2021 models, in 70-90K bht range. So maybe even PCX160 (btw 6ft 190lbs).

    • @JakeSnowLiveSimple
      @JakeSnowLiveSimple  Год назад

      Thank you 👊🏼! For those longer road trips the bigger Forza is no doubt a more relaxing ride. However, if you break up that 13 hour BKK-Samui ride into a 3-4 day journey I think the ADV 150 or 160 would be better, because it's going to be more enjoyable to ride once you get to your destination. I've spent a month with a Forza 350. It's not great, it's one of my least favorite scooters to ride. I can't say enough good things about the ADV 150 and 160. If you will be riding on dirt roads or bad paved roads the ADV is so much better than the Forza. The Forza ride quality in stock form is terrible off road.

    This is a really fantastic comparison mate, very interesting to watch. And here your opinions. If only they put the 350 engine in the size of the 160 bike, it would be the absolute perfect bike. I test road the 350 all around the track on and off road at the Honda center in Phuket and while the bike feels smooth and stable, it is just too cumbersome for me and too bulky. It was actually a real shame that they made it so large, as I am more interested in a lighter bike to sometimes get off-road and Park easily etc. Hey buddy of mine bought the 350 and seems to be happy with it. He's a little taller than I am. But it's just as such a shame that it's such a big bulky machine for me, I'm very interested in buying the 160 as an everyday city bike and sometimes long trip adventures, with the good under seat storage. But I think I would be looking to increase the performance immediately, I have heard of big bore kits that you can get, so that seems to be the way to go. The 350 is just too bulky for me to consider. The Aprilia sr gt 200 also looks like a great option, but again lacks the real power . If that came in a 400cc engine with the same bike frame size would be ideal... I don't know why they never seem to do that. From an engineering perspective a 400 cc engine would be very easy to fit in a bike even as small as a click. They see. To think as the engine goes up the bike size should do... It shouldn't!!

      @@JakeSnowLiveSimpleI test rode one around the carpark and area behind the dealer in Chiang Mai recently. Feels very nice. Obviously boring power compared to normal bikes but still nice. The size is little bigger or taller than the adv160 which isn't a bad thing, has more ground clearance for agressive cornering . It feels miles and miles better than the adv350 (which I tested all round track on and off road in Phuket) - for me it's just too cumbersome and overly bulky. I'm almost sold on the Aprilia. It has a few more horsepower and top speed than the adv160. But not massive amounts. There is also a big bore kit u can get to make it a 220cc (up from the 174 stock)
