I have a old scooter that I purchased with about 14500 miles on the clock 4 years ago. It is also a Honda, a 2001 NSS250 Reflex. Just this spring I turned 57000 miles on the clock and no that is not a typo, I ride the hell out of this thing. At the start of last year riding season I decided to do a ground up maintenance, new fuel line, new fuel filter, new vacuum lines, clean the carb (still didn't need it but did it anyway), valve adjustment, new tires, new drive belt, etc., you get the idea. I decided to go on a long trip out of state (I live in the USA) and was extremely happy with the highway fuel mileage of this thing. It is a 3.2 gallon tank and I reset the trip meter every fill up, a habit from having too many motorcycles in the past with no gas gauge. Other than potty breaks I ran 243 miles on the that first tank of my trip and at the first fill up I still had .4 of a gallon left in the tank which came out to 86 mpg... WOW, I have never had a motorcycle in my life to ever even come close to that. Great video and I hope to see many more from ya Crohnie!!

@@Crohniebiker I took it out on the DGR weekend and it was awesome! Quite an improvement on my old 2015 model. The CVT is much improved in smoothness and low speed running. The comfort is just like putting on a pair of comfortable slippers, and the handling is indeed spritely. And the extra power over the old 300 is excellent.

    CB, What a very useful video you've produced here. Thank-You. I'm in my mid 70's and returned to riding a motorcycle about 15 years or so ago (purely for pleasure riding in the country lanes of Hampshire). In my autumn years I have athritis developing in my right hip, so starting to get discomfort issues riding even conventional motorcycles such as my current Triumph Bonneville (and I'm vertically challenged, so would have even bigger problems if I had your in-seam measurement ! ). I regretfully changed to the Bonnie about 7 months ago from a Royal Enfield 350 Meteor, as my local R/E dealership ceased trading and there wasn't another (reliable) dealership within a practical distance for servicing. The Meteor, being a semi-cruiser style was the most comfortable 'bike I've ever owned. I checked out quite a few modern bikes for comfortable ergonomics and, although the Bonnie seemed the most appropriate, I'm now discovering it wasn't the complete answer. From my previous endeavours I know I won't find a conventional 'bike better suited to my failing physique than the Bonnie (and limited choice anyway as there are few dealerships close to my home). Although a massive break from tradition for me, a scooter would most probably provide the best answer to keep my motorised two-wheel fun going for a few more years, and the ADV 350 has popped up on my radar. Your 'real-world' experience of of the ADV covering topics not usually mentioned in typical reviews, but very relevant to potential long-term ownership were very encouraging to me. So thank-you again. : - }

Thank you for your kind words, my friend.
I have found in my 2 years of ownership that this little bike is a very capable machine. It will easily sit at motorway speeds, and I find it very nimble .
My girlfriend is 5"5 and she loves riding it too ( although she has to shuffle to the front of the seat to touch the ground)
It's also quite comfortable on longer rides .
I wish you many more happy years of riding enjoyment and thanks for watching 👍

I've got an ADV 150 in the states, wanted a 350 but they don't send them here.
I ride a lot of dirt roads and found that a lot of dirt gets thrown up into engine area , so I took rear fender off, riveted a piece of a plastic Enduro fender on it to extend it, and it keeps that area much cleaner.

I passed my mod1 a couple days ago, and my mod2 is set for the 22nd July. I’ve been riding a 125 for the last year, I felt that the mod1 was going to be the big hurdle, but I passed it easily in the end, so if I’m sensible, I hope the mod2 is going to be just a formality. The plan is to ride to the dealer the second I pass, trade in, and leave the dealer with this bike on the same day I pass.

Just a quick thing the various petrol stations get their fuel from the same 6 UK refineries .
The variations in fuel are only if you get fuel from outside you local area .

I'm a big scooter fan having owned in the past a Suzuki Burgman 250 and Yamaha Tmax and now a Vespa GTS300 along with a couple of motorcycles. A 300/350cc scooter make a lot of sense with adequate performance coupled with low running costs. I will be having a look at the current offerings at this years Motorcycle live. Unfortunately there does still seem some snobbery towards maxi scooters from both motorcyclists and traditional scooterists.

Hi Crohnie , I am a honda super cub owner (c 125) and Im thinking of buying an ADV 350. But I would like to know how easy or difficult it is to access the engine ( presumably from under the seat ) for maintenance and generally how easy it is to remove the plastic covers as for me working on the bike is part of the fun of ownership, cheers Mick.

Hi Mick, to be honest, I've not yet needed to get into the engine .However, I can tell you that the service items like air and oil filter, even the belt is easily accessible if you're doing your own maintenance you'll have no problems.
I purchased the honda service package, so I won't have to do it myself until year 3 .
I am expecting this to be ultra reliable tho as it's a well proven engine.

I also have an ADV 350 that I bought brand new nearly one year ago. However I am starting to notice some issues that I wonder if you have the same. The rear bearing is making a humming sound when I turn the wheel in any direction and I am able to shake the wheel slightly. I assume it's time to change under warranty. What is really worrying me at the moment is that I noticed that if I put the motorcycle on the center stand and shake it by hand a little bit, I can hear some mounts engine/chassis mount clinging (near the engine area) and I clearly see the rear suspension shaking from side to side. Do you also have this in yours?

To be honest I haven't, the only thing I notice now is its not as smooth sometimes pulling away but I think that's probably dust building up in the variator weights/clutch drum .

I don't notice any vibrations in the front wheel or windshield of your bike. I've had mine for a year, and I'm quite frustrated with how it tends to wobble and vibrate when I release the gas at around 60 km/h or when it's stationary and turned on.
Initially, I assumed the issue might be resolved by balancing the front wheel. However, after doing some research, it appears that this could be a common problem with Honda motorcycles.
Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to address this issue? Have you experienced a similar problem with your bike or does anyone reading this have insights to share?

Hi Crohnie, thanks for your honest opinion about your ADV.
I switched from a 400cc Piaggio Beverly 400 S scooter to the Honda CL-500 about 3 months ago.
As I don't have a car, I rode the Piaggio scooter all last winter (with the factory Michelin City Grip 2 tyres) in sleet and -10 degrees etc. without any problems.
I knew that the scooter would be better in winter due to the lower centre of gravity, but I didn't think that the CL 500 would be so unsuitable for winter riding (the rear end broke out when I started off carefully in the sleet). Have you ridden your CB-500X in winter and had a similar experience?
How does the ADV behave in sleet? Best regards ;-)

I've got a 2021 Forza 350 and over the last 400 miles it's returning an indicated 83mpg. Since new (approx. 2600 miles) the bike is indicating 79.7mpg. On a long steady run, it creeps up to the late 80's mpg. I'm surprised at the mpg you are getting on your ADV, I know the tyres are different but I don't think that the gearing is different?

My burgman was old ,so obviously the ADV350 is leagues ahead in terms of handling and stopping ,
Power wise, the ADV seems quicker of the line too
Overall its such sportier and rides more like a motorbike than the burgman which feels just like a comfortable scooter.
