Chongqing has a topography that fascinates me, with steep streets and alleys with stairs, and also has a pleasant rustic atmosphere, exactly the kind of landscape that I enjoy so much.
I think your videos are one of the more interesting ones among walkers here on YT. I'm going to watch this one later when I get home (I'm on mobile data). Looking forward to it!
Thank you again for uploading more chongqing stuff, it really is soulfood for somebody who mostly lived in europe like me.. I always start to dream whenever I watch the footage you recorded and I hope so much that I can visit this incredible city someday!
I love reading comments like these and I am so glad that my videos can affect people in this way. Chongqing really is as amazing as it appears in these videos...endless places to explore, so many nooks and crannies. I went once a few years ago and loved it so much I had to go back...I've never seen another place like it. I really hope you have the chance to visit someday.
Hello fellow youtuber, greetings from the other side of the planet! Very entertaining video. I make videos like that but from here, mostly from New Jersey, USA. You did an awesome job doing the video, it's not shaky and you covered around the scenes showing the surroundings. 👍
Hi. very interesting video. crowded market. there are a cat at 2:30, do you know that in 4 my videos I also see the cat too and accidentally recorded . 3:30: hello hello *HALO* and 8:11, I think you are a famous guys The roads are very shady in fairly dense settlements, but many people look quite hot . what time is this video made? many children come home from school Thank you for always sharing videos so we know each other. 🍺😀❤️
Hi Walking Around, your comment is greatly appreciated. I see the white cat at 2:30, but what do you mean you saw the cat in other videos of mine? Hahaha as a white foreigner walking around with a camera, I receive lots of "hellos" during my walks! I am glad you enjoyed this video and I look forward to your future videos with great haste as well!
Chungking Express is a very beautiful movie, but (please correct me if i´m wrong) it was mostly shot in Chungking Mansion, which is a very gigantic and multicultural apartment-block in Hong Kong and isn´t referring to chongqing for what I know.. It may be a weird thought, but back in 1996 when Chungking Express was released, Chongqing as we can see it in this video was basically non-existent, since it has grown at such an incredible pace since then!
@@dernamenlose7243 Yes you are absolutely correct. The two places happen to have the same name, though I'm not sure if the Chinese characters are the same...I would guess they are. And for what it's worth, I have stayed in the Chungking Mansions on both my trips to Hong Kong and it is one of the most interesting places I have ever seen. I'm assuming you have been as well.
@@kevinrudeforth Chongqing has seen some stunning growth, that is for sure. I could be wrong about this, but I think part of the reason for that population explosion is that in 1997 it was reclassified as a direct municipality (basically became its own province) and so its population was adjusted to include everyone within those new boundaries (and it is a very large area).
@@kevinrudeforth Ah that is very good to know, thanks for the correction! I remember seeing a comparison picture of the central Jingbei-area skyline between 1990 and 2016 or so, which was very impressive, so I probably mixed that up because of that..
Actually I'm not sure what district it was, I usually just aimlessly wander without paying too much attention to where I am haha. I would love to try living in Chongqing one day!
I'm not sure exactly, I don't usually keep track of where I film haha. If you are interested I could point out the general area for you. Chongqing is filled with places like this though, so just go out and explore and you are sure to find something similar!
Chongqing is clearly way behind other Chinese cities. Even a 3 & 4 tier cities in China look better than this. Chongqing needs to improve drastically as it breaks my heart to see them living in such conditions.
I don't think it's as bad as all that, Chongqingers are among the more friendly and cheerful people I have met in China. Things could be better, but the city has a slow and relaxed pace of life that I think many would vastly prefer to other Chinese cities. I know I do. Also, apartments in China always look much nicer on the inside than they do on the outside, you'd be surprised :)
@@streetsofasia8895 Thanks for your insights. However, just by looking at the people here in Chongqing I notice many looked like blue colored workers with low wage job (nothing wrong with that). Maybe that is why they put up with the dilapidated environment. I hope the government can find ways to improve the lives of the people in Chongqing, if not, they will become "zoo" for Western tourist to show the "real" China as they always consider any developed part of Asia to be for tourist only which I think is very racist.
@@bldomain Every city in China has poor areas like this, not just Chongqing, and the lack of maintenance on public infrastructure is widespread. I too hope it can be improved. China is, after all, still a developing country. I don't think these areas will ever become tourist destinations. Tourist destinations in China are always overly renovated and nice-looking, they don't want tourists seeing places like this. I don't understand your comment about racism.
@@streetsofasia8895 In fact RUclipsr Gabriel Traveler has once talk about using the word "Real" carefully in his video. When Westerners are shown poverty, dirty, unorganized environment or Ghetto of that particular country they will immediately respond with gratitude of appreciation of "REALISM" but when modern and clean environment are shown they will retort that these areas are for tourists and not for the people of that country. In other words people of that country are expected to live in worse environment. I might overstretch a bit about using the word racism but definitely they have these bias perception of developing countries after being exposed to Western media all their life. Strangely, most Westerners still do not understand what I am saying. Therefore I explain to them like this- For example How would you feel if you are an American and you are told that skid row in LA, run down and burned town suburbs in Detroit and thousands of homeless people in San Francisco is the "REAL USA". Of course NOT, all these areas do not represent US as most US is clean and nice. It is just those places in US are "BAD" areas. I , once had an argument with a Westerner in Malaysia who says that Malaysia is real and Singapore is not real. I asked why you say that ? he says Singapore is too clean and modern, it is only for tourist. I told him that 99.9% of Singapore is like that because Singapore has already become a developed country. He still insist that he is right because he still do not believe with what he sees even though he has been there. Shake my Head!! I do not agree with you that China infrastructure's lack of maintenance is widespread as I have been to many parts of China except Chongqing. China's infrastructure like High speed train, highways, bridges etc ARE A MARVEL TO THE WORLD. In fact Trump is trying to get more than $2 trillion from Congress to upgrade US old and run down infrastructure and once comment in his rally that US airport is like 3rd world country compared to China.
I have lived in China for over 3 years and I can tell you for a fact that lack of infrastructure maintenance is a problem in China. There are nice areas in China, but poor infrastructure is widespread. Poor areas and rich areas are both "real China," please dont read too much into my videos.
