Hi Sylvia! I'm ao glad to be able to share something new with you!! 🤘🏻🎸. I really got interested in Melbourne, Florida history over the 2 years that we lived there, and in May I posted a video every single day around a historical marker in Melbourne & the surrounding areas, including Melbourne Beach. You might find those videos interesting also, if you want to look them up. Melb Beach is such a beautiful place to live!! ☀️❤️🤍💙
Hi Rick! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video!! Visiting Jim's gravesite at Pere Lachaise is definitely a bucketlist destination for us. It looks like such a beautiful cemetery (much more beautiful than anything here in Melbourne) and I think it's wonderful that he's been allowed to rest in peace there and not moved. Thank you so much for watching 🩷
Hi John! That is quite a compliment, thank you so much for your kind words & encouragement. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the video so much!! It was fun to learn more about Jim Morrison and bring it to the channel to share 🎶🤘🏻🎸
I live in the area and actually stayed there it's a hotel to, I love when ppl in the area go yea my sister was In high school with him I Belo and go no they did not.i think the house was moved to.
Hi there Mr Gus! That's so awesome that your sister was in school with Jim, how amazing!!! :D. It was really neat to be able to see the first house he ever lived in :D
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve been living here in Melbourne for over 5 years but have visited my grandmother here in Melbourne every summer or twice a year since I was a young child but I never knew about Jim Morrison’s birth place and childhood home until this video popped up without even looking for it. Nicely done! Thanks!
Hi there Christopher!! I am so pleased that you enjoyed this video so much!! Melbourne definitely has a lot of unique history to offer. Visiting Jim's birth house was high on my to-do list from the moment we first moved to the area, but it took me 2 years to get there! It's so special that the current homeowners honor all the fans who visit with the pictures & posters in the windows. Thank you so much for watching & leaving such nice words for us, it means a lot! ❤️🎶🎸
Hi there Sharon!! We're so pleased to be able to tell you the cool news then!! Melbourne is super proud to be able to claim Jim Morrison even though he didn't live here for very long 😅. Thank you for commenting, so glad you enjoyed the video 🤘🏻🎶 🎸
Hello Jade! Thank you so much for the kind words. Great minds think alike! As far as anyone knows, Jim is resting in peace where he truly wanted to be, and I respect his family's right to honor that. 🎶❤️
Hi there! We lived in Indian Harbour Beach for the last 2 years, but so many of our favorite spots were in Indialantic! It's such a great little beach town!! Our favorite coffee shop we ever found in Brevard Co was the Indialantic Coffee Shop, we miss it so much since moving away. Hope you enjoyed the video!!! 🩷🩷💛
@@michaelandjulie Video was great! I lived 21 years in IHB and now in in Satellite Beach - thankful I'm still beach-side - we have the best community here! Where did you move to?
You're so very lucky to live beachside for so many years!! We loved IHB and probably Indialantic even better. Satellite is also so nice with such cool history how it got started. I found a historical markers about the origin of Satellite Beach and that got me really interested in learning about the area. We moved to Colombia South America temporarily at the beginning of the summer 💛💙❤️
Very nice video. I grew up in Melbourne and have lived here all of my life. I remember going to that hospital when my sister was born. As children were not allowed in to visit, so dad and I walked around to the window to see mom. I got to see the doors in concert in 1972, but without Jim as they tried to keep the band going. It just wasn't the same. Keep up the good work!
Hi there! Awww how sweet that you remember this building being a working hospital and that your sister was born here! I couldn't imagine a Doors concert without Jim. He's one of those fromtmen that really makes the band great and it would never be the same without him. I saw a Doors tribute band play at Whisky a Go Go in California years ago, and that was a pretty great experience. Nothing like the concert you got to go to, though! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! Melbourne really is a great place!!! ☀️🎸😎
Lived in Melbourne know the route and saw the house. I found out about it while I lived there. "Riders On the Storm" Greetings Coral Way E. Indialantic
We miss the Melbourne area!! We moved to Indian Harbour Beach in early 2022 but just recently moved to Colombia South America. It's amazing how many Colombians we have connected with both here in person and through our channel that actually live in or near Melbourne! It's such a small world 🌎 ❤️🤍💙💛💙❤️🌍
As a Melbourne Resident, I've been to his house many times. My.older sisters have a Great Pic of the Original Door on his house!! The new owners were very nice about it!
Hi there, thanks for sharing!! I'm glad you have memories of the house when it was even more original than it is today. Melbourne is a great place to live, we definitely miss Florida a lot! ☀️🏝️ 🐊
Not sure why people feel the need to post negative comments here, but I enjoyed your video and the relaxing way you presented it. My wife, daughter and I moved to Melbourne about 5 years ago and have discussed Jim Morrison, his birthplace and home on occasion. Several time's while in "old town" Melbourne I have thought about going to the house but haven't gone as of yet. Now I will. Thank you for the video and motivation. G
Hi there, Moonshine Place Productions! :D. Very cool channel name. I'm so glad you enjoyed watching this video. The house & hospital are very easy to find and have a lot of drive by traffic. I really appreciate that the current homeowner, while they do have "NO TRESPASSING" signs everywhere for their own security, at least gives a nod to the fans who want to do a drive by with all the big photographs in the windows. That's such a nice touch. I will check out some of your videos today, I'm very curious about other local RUclips vloggers! :)
It's awesome the homeowners keep those pictures up of Jim Morrison to pay homage to this rock legend! I think I’m going to pay his home a visit in the next few weeks, I already visited Tom Pettys childhood home in Gainesville a couple years ago. 🤘🎸
Hi there, Rich! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! Can't wait to see yours when you cover it! I watched your Tom Petty home video last night and really enjoyed it!!! You make cool content!!! Please cover the Gainesville serial killer, that would be so interesting!!!!! :)
Hi - from Melbourne, Australia. And thanks for the video, Julie. I've been listening to the Doors since the 70s ,when my mum used to play the records; she played tapes in the car. I've still got a couple of the albums she bought back then - and they still sound ok. I suppose you're aware of the connection between Melbourne, Victoria and Melbourne, Florida?
Hi Richard! Very cool that you remember The Doors way back from their days on record. Yes I do know about the connection between Melbournes Australia & Florida! Back in May of this year, I was trying to learn more about Melbourne Florida, and I posted a video every day in the whole month of May covering a historical marker or site in Melbourne. One of them mentioned the connection between Florida & Australia. If I remember right, the community (of what is now Melb FL) was taking a vote on what to name their town, and a man from Australia voted to name it Melbourne. I think he was the original postmaster general of Melb Florida. The story is covered in one of my May videos. I'm trying to remember which video it is in specifically... I believe it's the video about the first post office in Melbourne Florida. I think that's such a neat connection.🤘🏻🎸
Pretty impressed. With your aura and gift in creative writing your channel would popped like wildfire if you take your show to Los Angeles and do ANY STORIES ..hell...it can be Jim Morrison's journey. I'm huge fan of The Doors and also the alum of UCLA. For one whole day I tracked down all of The Doors point of interest. I was looking for Ray Manzarek last place of residence on 'North' Rodeo Dr and got lost. I stopped an old man in a hurry and asked for directions in Beverly Hills and it was Christopher Plummer! The next day I stopped at Walgreens pharmacy to pick up my something and infront of me in line was Robby Kriger!! I live in the Valley. I bumped into Spalding Grey and Brian Wilson at CVS on the same day same time!! I'm just lazy to start my own channel on my own
Hi there Lt. Colombo!! Wow thank you for all your kind words and compliments. I'm truly enjoying sharing little things I find interesting all around me & us on our RUclips channel, and it just makes my day when someone appreciates it as much as you do! It sounds like way more & cooler things come across your path, for sure!! Wow you've ran into some classics by accident!!! Christopher Plummer is such a legend, and of course running into Brian Wilson would be incredible. You really need a story-time channel or something to share these cool experieces, we would totally watch that!!! ❤️🤍💙
Melbourne resident here: This was tastefully and respectfully done, good job. It's brain bending that had he lived, he'd be 81 this December - and ALL his living contemporaries of the 60's are in their 80's. The reason John Tice wanted to have him interred here: 💰💰 Look these up: - Former West Melbourne Deputy Mayor John Tice had his charges formally dropped as part of the plea deal, but still had to pay back the $7,000. - And: MELBOURNE - John Tice is out as the executive director of the Liberty Bell Memorial Museum after disagreements arose over a trip to New York City and his Brevard Hall of Fame.
Hi there Thomas! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video so much. Hard to believe so many legends are gone now, and hard to picture the ones who were "too fast to live, too young to die" as they would have been. I can't imagine Jim at 81 -- he will be 27 years old for eternity. I had no idea about the situation with former Deputy Mayor John Tice... wow. I'm very surprised that didn't pop up when I was doing research for this video. I would definitely have included that information. Thank you for telling me. What a scam, it's a good thing he has been removed and perhaps the rumors about relocating Jim Morrison's body can finally die out and he can rest in peace. Thank you for your thoughtful comment ❤️🤍💙
Ah, I didn't know he didn't like that name. I never really think of him as "Lizard King" anyway, and I'm glad I didn't refer to him that way throughout the video. Thanks for the information! 🤘🏻🎸
"Come on baby light my fire"😀😍 This is literally right down the street from me, I'll have to go and check it out one of these days. I knew he'd been born here but didn't know the house. Thanks!
Hi there! I hope you do get to do a drive by and check these sites out! How cool that Melbourne has a connection to such a legend! I hope you enjoyed the video! 🤘🏻🎸
Yeah that big U.S. Flag you passed by is Kelly Ford dealership seen from US1 heading south. Then you passed Dell's Freeze and the Lexus of Toyota dealership. I known this area since 1981 when i moved here with my parents and sisters when i was 10 years old. They bought and operated the Dairy Queen off of Babcock St. from 81-89. Funny thing i see the old building everyday on my way to work Leonardo DRS.
@@michaelandjulie Jim came on stage about 15 minutes after the rest of the band. He got in an augment with a fan, then a cop . The band started playing Light my fire and from then on Jim was focused and great
No way! Haha. Seems like the lead singer is always the one who's late and/or has drama 😂😂😂. I'm sure that is a night you will never ever forget. Dang he was just gone way too soon! 🕊️ 🎸🤘🏻
Obviously knew this one was coming as we talked about earlier. Excited to see this one Julie! Lots of info here. Read a lot of the articles as you suggested we do by pausing. Some interesting reading there. Interesting to see the changes in the house, and values of the house over the years too. Pretty cool to see the people in the area are taking interest in one of their famous “sons” too. And I agree with you, and his family, let him rest where he wanted to rest. Great job Julie!! Edit: not seeing the links for the videos on the TV version of RUclips or phone. Maybe will try computer, but just thought I’d pass it on. 🤷🏼♂️
GOOD MORNING MUSTANG!!!! Boy oh boy what would I do without you!! Thank you so much for pointing out the missing links on this video. I thought you had to be kidding, because I linked so many articles, but when I went to check on it, you are right!! All of my hashtags were missing also! I distinctly remember typing and copy/pasting them into the description bar, but I guess either I didn't hit save or something happened. YIKES! Thank you so much, I hope I have fixed it now! I can't find a Zillow ad that I referenced in this video, but it was in the paperwork that I flipped through in the Library, so hopefully that's good enough haha. Everything else I read from is now in the description bar -- or should be! Good catch, thank you so much!! :) I can't believe it's even ever been up for debate about moving remains. Give me a break. No one deserves to have an opinion on that except for his family. It has always been strange to me that his family is so okay with him resting so far away from them where they can't visit very often, but that's their business, and they are honoring what they believe to be his personal wishes. It blew my mind that it was ever pitched to the public that we had a right to have an opinion on this! I'm gonna keep checking and make sure there aren't more links I'm missing. Usually I keep a note file with all the reference material for a video like this, but I've already deleted it and typed another script over it. From now on I should learn from my mistakes and keep the note until the video goes live and Mustang can proof read!!! :). HEHEHE
Busy day for me again. But wanted to check in. Just got home from work. 4AM, yippie!! Glad you were able to fix the links and hashtags. 😁 I thought I wasn’t looking in the right place, but the description wasn’t your normal one. And with RUclips, ya never know. Remind me to tell you how to make a thumbnail from your videos on your phone. The thumbnail you were trying to make is possible. 😉 I agree with you. I understand the family wanting him closer to home but agreeing to him being where he wanted to be and leaving him in Paris. Off to bed, I’ll catch up with you later today. Promise!! ☺️
goodness they are working you half to death these days! I bet you are ready for your beach vacation!! After I added the hashtags, a lot more people clicked on the video and watched it. Thank you again for pointing that out! Still not sure if I forgot to add them or forgot to save after I added them, but either way, much better now!! :). I make thumbnails with Instagram! It's the easiest way I know how.. I'm still too intimidated by technology and software to try to learn how to do thumbnails with an actual program. That's probably the next thing I need to do for our channel, is get better at the thumbnails. I don't have an IG anymore, but Michael still has an IG that he doesn't use, and I borrow his for making thumbnails! It's super easy, just make a story with a photo and then type whatever you want on it! It's a little crude-amentary, but it gets the job done LOL.
Cool, didn’t know. We’ve lived in the area for the past 20+ years. My wife, mom-in-law and I frequently drive up and down US1 South to Sabestian and North to Gleason park (probably close to where you live) to walk our pooch. I have never noticed the RotS Inn. We also walk in downtown mlb on cool days, didn’t know about the house; will stopping by next time. Thanks.
Hi there! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video & learned something new! Since posting this video, people have commented & told me lots of things I didn't know.. like the fact that comedians Carrot Top and Daniel Tosh are also from the area! It's fun to see a house or building and recognize that it's connected to someone famous. Hope you enjoy your strolls around downtown Melbourne! It's such a pretty little town. Have fun!! ☀️🤘🏻 🎸
Fun video. There is one original building in Melbourne Florida also remaining from the Naval academy training facility. It is the common area building on the property of Tropical Haven trailer park. The hallways of the building have photos from the early forties of the grounds, trainers and trainees back when Jim's Father was there. I live in Melbourne Beach, too.
Hello there, Dougie! We lived in Indian Harbour Beach at the time I made this video. Back in May, I went around Melbourne filming historical markers and learning about the history of Melbourne, which was a really fun project and I enjoyed every single one! I did do a video at the Naval Air Station which is now Tropical Haven Park (it was posted in the final week of May if you're wanting to look it up). I did not go inside any of the buildings though, and after reading your comment, now I wish that I had! I had no idea there was an original building from WW2 actually left and that there was any sort of tribute to Jim's father. Sadly I don't live in Melbourne anymore (we have moved to Colombia South America!), but maybe one day I can make it back there to see it. I did another video on all the historical markers in Melbourne Beach, if you'd like to check that out. Thank you so much for the nice comment and the information, I really hope you enjoyed the video!
that is cool!!! I went to that retirement village to film the Naval Air Station historical marker back in May, and it looks like such an active, fun place to live. They've really made it cute. So much history in that area!
Jim was born in the Vascular building. This was the second hospital in Melbourne, the first one was the former Crenshaw Hotel on Crane Creek st. (I lived there in 2010) next to the Melbourne Yacht Club. The Morrisons residence on Vernon Place was renovated around 2011 or 2012, changing the original appearance it had.
Hi Ricardo! Funny that you mentioned the original hospital in Melbourne, Crenshaw! A few weeks before I did this video on the Jim Morrison sites in Melbourne, I was doing "Memorial May" videos where I posted a different historical marker in Melbourne on every day of the month. I did a whole video on the Crenshaw Hotel and how it had gone from hotel to hospital to hotel to apartments. I was for sure confused if perhaps Jim had been born in this hospital or not until I double-double checked all the dates. You might be interested in that video, if you want to check it out. I do appreciate that the current homeowners, while they don't want trespassers, did put out big posters of Jim Morrison to greet fans who just want to see the house from the street. Hope you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching! 🤘🏻🎸
Hi there! How random! Do you remember the hospital well? I'd love to see the inside, but did not feel right going inside where there might be patients and disrupting their privacy. It's such a cute building though! 🎸🤘🏻
I believe Jim's father worked for the Naval Air Force military base which is now the Melbourne International Airport (MLB) off NASA Blvd. Jim's dad was a admiral in the Navy . Jim was born in 1943 and the base was "closed" in 1946 , then the Morrison family probably moved on again to another location. (from Kevin Barefoot Bay FLA)
Hi there Kevin! Yes you're right, thank you for all the information about Jim Morrison & his family. I think I included all if this information in my video. I also did another video back in May on the historical marker for the Naval Air Force Base in Melbourne. I hope you enjoyed watching! ❤️🤍💙
When Jim's album first came out his sister Anna told me she started playing the album and how the father was outraged grab the album and smashed it.. don't ever bring that kind of music in this house ever..Jimmy he was highly intelligent had a high IQ he was on the swim team hung out at Melbourne Beach all the time..I how about three pictures in black and white with the guy's..
oh wow that is really interesting! You knew/know Anna personally? I thought the family came to terms with Jim's career in rock & roll though, even though they were much more conservative & Christian... ?
The building at 1310 S. Harbor City Blvd. that says "Birthplace of Jim Morrison" is not the hospital where Morrison was born. He was born next door before that building was erected.
Hi there Jay! Yes if you watched the video, I did explain that the building across the street (which I filmed extensively) that you are talking about, is the hospital where Jim Morrison was born. It's a wound care clinic today so I did not try to go inside or risk violating anyone's privacy. There's no signage on that building to honor Jim, though. I appreciate that the building next door has such a big sign to honor the fact that he was born nearby. Hope that clears up the confusion & hope you enjoyed the vide! 🎸🤘🏻🎶
Hi, John! That is so interesting! I really did not look much into the history of Jim's family. I knew his father was a pilot in World War 2, but did not know about his involvement in the Vietnam War also. This event would have been only a few years before Jim died, right? It's too bad Jim didn't live to see the end of the war his father was involved in, or longer in general. I'm sure he had so much more great music to give to the world. Thank you so much for watching & sharing this with me ❤️🤍💙🎸
I live a mile away, I pass by those places every day. Isn't it funny how his old house is off New Haven Ave. They will show you his birth certificate if you ask them.
Hi there! Too cool that you live in the area! We lived in Indian Harbour Beach for the past 2.5 hours. I didn't want to bother the current homeowners because of the no trespassing signs, but I did appreciate the big pictures of Jim they put up in all the windows. I'd love to see his birth certificate though! Melbourne's little claim to fame 🎸🤘🏻🎶
@@michaelandjulie The old owners used to. I've seen pics of the inside, extremely small but it's where a legend was born although he lived longer in Clearwater. That house is no longer there. I've made the trip.
thanks for telling me about the Clearwater house! We weren't planning a trip there just to film the house, but I would have been on the hunt for it if we ever make it over to the west coast of Florida. I didn't know it was gone now, but I did know he spent much more of his childhood there. Thanks for letting me know! :D
I moved to Melbourne from Los Angeles a while back.Locals claim Morrison was born and lived on Sarno. The motel on route 1(next to the VW dealership) has a placard claiming he was born there. As for the semi-famous,the writer Zora Neal Hurston lived in Eau Gallie. The (then famous) English witch,Sybil Leek, lived in Indiatlantic. The locals loved her.She died in Holmes and is buried in the cemetary (I think) on Nasa.A Saturday Night Live star was from here, but I can't remember his name.
Hi Kevin! Yes, the hotel on US-1 does have a placard out front, which is kind of misleading! That building certainly looks more impressive than the one across the street, which used to be the hospital, and is now a wound & vascular care clinic. I guess since the OG hospital wasn't taking advantage of their claim to fame, the hotel decided to get in on it HAHA. But no, he was definitely not born there at the old hotel. I never heard of those other famous people that were born or lived in the area. Too bad, I would have loved to look up their history and connection points to Melbourne! Thank you for sharing! :)
Darrell Hammond who was a cast member on SNL in the 90's and early 2000's. He grew up near the Melbourne Airport just behind the Sonic on Babcock St. and Apollo. He did a documentary about his childhood a few years ago about his troubled childhood and growing up there.
They used to have a metal plaque that you could read if you got out of your car and walked up to it and then years later they put that sign up..I knew Jim from Melbourne Florida because he had a lot of problems with his father he would go to his grandmother's house on the other coast so he was back and forth..That house was sitting forever all boarded up with plywood the person that owns it now is trying to sell it for $2.3 million dollars.. I have a picture of Jim and the guys at the beach at Melbourne Florida..RIP Brother you should have been buried in Melbourne Florida..
Hi there!! I do think it's neat that they have the sign uo, even though it's a little confusing because it makes it look like he was born across the street from where he actually was born. I appreciate the nice touch since the wound care clinic clearly doesn't pay any homage to him at all. At least the current homeowner put up some large photographs as a sign that fans are welcome to walk by and see the house. That is a nice touch! I hope you enjoyed the video 🤘🏻🎸
The original plaque they had was like a 12 by 12 piece of Steel where hide little information in writing on it you had to get out of your car and walk about 20 ft in order to read it..Ya the song is confusing but it's better than that steel plaque they had on a pole..
@@michaelandjulie You had to get out of your car and walk about 15 ft it was a 12 by 12 steel plaque on a metal post.. all the information was written on that, I think it was made out of "Brass".. basically there was no proof in Melbourne Florida that Jim Morrison was ever born there a group of people got together from the area to get that sign put up.. I think they could have done a lot better job..I ride by there a couple times a week when I go fishing...🎣🎣
Yes I totally agree that Melbourne could do a better job of capitalizing on their claim to fame. A little Jim Morrison / Doors museum would be fantastic. I wish I knew what happened to that sign, sounds like it was pretty impressive! I like the colorful one that is up now, except for the fact that it's so misleading about which building actually used to be the hospital LOL
Hi there Christian! I always wanted to get my hands on that book and look through it. I'm particularly fascinated by all the journals that Jim kept over the years. I bet you're right, most likely it was Indialantic Beach, as that is just a straight shot from their house! Thank you for commenting, hope you liked the video!! ❤️🎶🎸
oh that's really cool!! So tell me, did you spot any errors in my video? I tried my best to research as thoroughly as I could, but I'm sure I made some mistakes in here somewhere. I'd love to be educated if you caught any errors! Thank you so much for watching, I'm honored!
Oh awesome!! We knew that house had been torn down, which is a bummer. Jim probably had lots more memories of it than of Melbourne. Hope you enjoyed the video!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@michaelandjulie yeah Jim left Here when he was like a year old ..But years ago locals around here say they drank with Jim so it was during his trials in Miami
Hi Brad! Thank you so much for watching this video, I really hope you enjoyed it! We take copyright very seriously on this channel, and I just didn't want to take any risks playing any Doors music in the background and risking getting a strike since their music isn't royalty free. We're not in a position right now to purchase music to use in our videos either. I was stuck trying to pick from what little I had available at the time royalty free. It's unfortunate, because I knew when I posted this video, there would probably be lots of comments about the music we chose, and there sure have been! 😂
@@michaelandjulie I do understand the rules even though I don't have a YT channel, very strict, but you did a very good job with all the research etc . Keep up the good work !!
it's probably better he is buried in pere lachaise. no doubt many of this olympiads olympic athletes in paris will take home memories of their pilgrimages around paris to historic sites, but especially, the astronomically popular morrison gravesite in pere lachaise. they will draw more people to listen to his music and remember him as a rock legend. probably already the media coming for the olympics has made dozens of shoots for paris olympics background stories. does anybody honestly think all the residents of paris never heard of jim morrison? i bet his pictures plaster one of the nearby metro stations. if jim morrison's remains had been sent back, it still would draw fans, but when people go to paris, they get a buy one trip to paris, get one trip free to jim morrison's gravesite. more people take advantage. even when morrison's was an AYCE buffet restaurant chain, which had its florida franchises too, i cannot help remembering jim morrison. same for van morrison, also a legend in his own right. finally, imagine all the tributes inspired when rock stars came to paris and visited morrison's gravesite. like this one, by simple minds. it wouldn't have happened in a melbourne concert tour stopover. can't you hear the ad-libbed tribute to jim morrison in Book of Brilliant Things, amidst regalia and some bars quite like the theme from jethro tull's Thick as a Brick. ruclips.net/video/1nEo5P59tVM/видео.html
Hi there! I agree with you totally. As far as we know, it's true that he did want to be buried in Père Lachaise; and unless his family decides to intervene, I don't think it's anyone else's business where he rests in peace. Kind of shocked me how certain people in the town of Melbourne, Florida, thought this was even a topic that was up for debate. I hope to visit Pere Lachaise one day and see his grave, as well as the many other beautiful ones. I hear the cemetery is just gorgeous.
@@michaelandjulie at the time he chose paris for a sabbatical to develop his poetry muscle, immersing himself in the culture and history. i would like to see any writings that he made, perhaps about the louvre, or the bastille or guillotines or bordeaux wines.
Hi there good morning! I am sorry you felt that there were a lot of errors in this video. All of the sources of my information are linked in the description below and/or are news articles that I actually filmed in this video. If you know of any errors specifically, I would like to be educated. Thank you for watching! 🤘🏻🎸
Hi there! I did not say that he is buried next to Oscar Wilde, they are simply nearby in the same cemetery. And yes I totally agreed in this video that in my opinion, it would not be appropriate to move his remains out of this cemetery. That's a movement started by some people in Florida and I do not agree with it. I hope you did enjoy watching! 🎸🤘🏻
I hope to see Père Lachaise someday! I believe, if rumors are to be believed, it was Oscar Wilde's gravesite that made Jim Morrison say he would like to be buried there also (allegedly), right? It must be a beautiful cemetery. It's definitely on my bucketlist!
Hello there, Martin! Thank you for the correction, I apologize for the misspeak. I am a big fan of The Doors' music, and many other classic rock bands who unfortunately had broken up, or many members of the band had died long before I was born. I don't think there's any band that I could accurately name all the members of the original line up.. that includes my favorite band of all time, Guns & Roses. Their music runs in my veins and I love it. I don't think not knowing the people individually makes me any less of a fan of the music however. I did know who Jim Morrison is (front men are always the easiest to remember!) and was so excited to see his original birthplace and home and share it with the channel. I hope you enjoyed the video!! 🤘🏻🎸🎶
Hi Beamer! I certainly didn't mean to imply that Morrison's and Wilde's gravesites were side by side or close to each other. Only that they are both buried in the same cemetery, and Wilde's gravesite is partly why Morrison said he wanted to be buried at Pere Lachaise (allegedly). I hope you enjoyed the video! 🤘🏻🎸
BTW, if you ever have an opportunity to visit Père Lachaise, I highly recommend it. My husband and I spent hours walking through it and still didn't cover all of it. Some of the markers and memorials are absolutely stunning.
Oh wow... it looked like a pretty nice neighborhood to me. Just a block from downtown, and Melbourne has a really cute downtown area. Hope you liked the video! 🩷
Hi there! I don't have photos or an actual weight of Jim Morrison in the final days of his life, but I am quoting from an article that is linked below as far as his weight. "Obese" is the word used in the article. Hope that helps! 🎸🤘🏻
Hi there, Solly! I apologize for the mistake, Robby, not Bobby. I was reading off a script I created and must have mis-typed. I became interested in learning more about The Doors after finding out that Jim Morrison was born in the town where I live, but I know very little about them actually. I don't actually know much of anything about any band for that matter. I listen to almost exclusively classic & southern rock and I listen to The Doors all the time... but in my age of streaming everything that we listen to and never buying albums etc, it's easy to love the music of a band or artist for years and realize you don't even know the names of the band members or what they look like. For instance, Guns n Roses has been my favorite band in the world for almost 20 years, but other than "Axl, Slash, and Iggy (Izzy?)", I don't know the real names or the full names of anybody who ever played in that band! Probably couldn't even pick them out on the street haha. Maybe in your eyes that makes me less of a "BIG fan," but the love of the music is completely separate from the knowledge of who created it, in my opinion. I do hope you enjoyed the video!
@@michaelandjulieI stumbled upon your video today an as a luke warm fan of the doors being old enough to remember the band during thier heyday I watched it, it was very well done. Your reply on this thread about one mistake in fairly long presentation is total class! Much respect for that. Also very nice video of my beloved home town.
Hi there! Yes he only spent about 6 months living in this house. I didn't even mention the house in the title, just "birthplace," which is technically the hospital where he was born. I lived in Melbourne, Florida, and we are very proud of our connection to Jim Morrison, no matter how far of a stretch it is. His father lived here many more years, working for the US Navy, and was involved in both Vietnam and WW2. I hope you did enjoy the video! 🤘🏻🎸
Interesting your video but your music choice is terrible. At least play some blues or what he liked to listen to and not that rock trash. I mean, come on!
Hi Liana! I'm sorry that you didn't like the music I chose. I was working from a limited library of free music that I have access to and there wasn't much blues to choose from. Rock was unfortunately the next best thing. Hope you liked the video otherwise! :)
I live in Melbourne Beach, Fl. and never knew this! Thank you.🎶😍
You need to get out more. Brevard county is full of historical sites.
Great Video. Thanks for the sharing. I’m from Paris and I visited Jim Morrison’s grave at Cemetery Père-Lachaise.
Jim Morrison wasn't in that grave as he went on to play the character and persona of "Rush Limbaugh."
That’s like saying I’m from New York City and visited the Brooklyn bridge
@@Pluralofvinylisvinyls Well, a lot of French people never went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Mostly the Tourists.
I am in Melbourne on occasion. Miss you Jim. Hope you found peace.
Me too 🕊️
Thanks for sharing this video Your really good at this and your voice comes off super clear .I look foward to more of your videos Godbless you
Thank you❤
Thank you for watching!! I hope you enjoyed it 🎶🖤❤️
Wow I live in Rockledge and never knew he was born in Melbourne! Thanks for a great video!
I have lived here my whole life and have always wondered where his house was.
Fantastic, now you know!! I hope you enjoyed the video! ❤️🤍💙
Thank you❤ For taking the time to do this. I do think the Jim 😊should stay in Paris.
Hello Jade! Thank you so much for the kind words. Great minds think alike! As far as anyone knows, Jim is resting in peace where he truly wanted to be, and I respect his family's right to honor that. 🎶❤️
I knew this - grew up in Indialantic
I found a historical markers
about the origin of Satellite Beach and that got me really interested in learning about the area.
Great effort. Very Nice work.

Hello from Naples, Florida. Very nice!! So interesting about Jim Morrison. Thanks for sharing these amazing views with us, have a great weekend 👍 💯 ❤

I used to inadvertently drive past this house on my way home from work almost everyday before I retired..
Hi there Jack! Did you know it was Jim's former home?? It really is a cute house! 🎶🤘🏻🎸

I can't believe it's even ever been up for debate about moving remains.
I agree with you.
Nice wiggle. The video was informative, who knew. Thanks
I'm so glad you enjoyed watching! Thank you for the kind words 🤘🏻🎸👌🏻
Thanks.

I lived in one of the Navy duplex houses where Tropical Haven is now from about 1959 until 1961.
that is cool!!! I went to that retirement village to film the Naval Air Station historical marker back in May, and it looks like such an active, fun place to live. They've really made it cute. So much history in that area!

I live in Sebring and never knew this about Morrison.
Hi Jim! Well.. now you know!!! :D. There are a lot of famous rock stars from Florida.. Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd.. just to name a very few! :D
@@michaelandjulie Always knew about Tom and Skynyrd, just not Jim !
I bet there are tons more, I need to look this up! Now I'm curious! 🤘🏻🎸
I was at that hospital in 1961 for a broken arm.
Hi there! How random! Do you remember the hospital well? I'd love to see the inside, but did not feel right going inside where there might be patients and disrupting their privacy. It's such a cute building though! 🎸🤘🏻
@@michaelandjulie Not real well. It was a hallway with rooms off to the side as well as I remember.
I guess they don't really embrace their Jim Morrison connection, do they :(
Very nicely done, Julie
Thank you so much! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video 💕
Yes His father had direct knowledge of the Gulf of Tonkin, didn’t expose it so he ended career as an Admiral
Yes, I had heard that. I wonder why he didn't?
oh wow that is really interesting! You knew/know Anna personally? I thought the family came to terms with Jim's career in rock & roll though, even though they were much more conservative & Christian... ?
Subscribed. You are soooo pretty and cool.

Nice video my friend 😊!
Thanks, Linda!! I'm so glad you enjoyed watching!! 🎶💙
The Linda Moore from Vero Beach?? 🤘
Jims father was the commander of the fleet at the gulf of Tonkin event that propelled the US into the Vietnam war.

My brother, Mike Midgett, was born at this hospital.
Legends are born here! 🤘🏻
SNL Darrell Hammond was from West Melbourne, I believe.
Very cool information, thank you Sean! :D
@@seanhoward5562 Ah right, thanks.I have trouble remembering names. And age and weight, for that matter.
Oh interesting! I wonder what happened to that sign & why it's not there anymore!
The big book That His sister put out shows Jim and his parents at the beach in Brevard Prob Indialantic

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed 🤘🏻
I been to the Clearwater spot his House was on or His Grandparents
Oh awesome!! We knew that house had been torn down, which is a bummer. Jim probably had lots more memories of it than of Melbourne. Hope you enjoyed the video!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@michaelandjulie yeah Jim left Here when he was like a year old ..But years ago locals around here say they drank with Jim so it was during his trials in Miami
Wouldn't that be incredible, to have a drink with Jim Morrison. Wow... 🎶🎸

Nice tribute for JM but it could have used a little Doors background music imo ? I don't think you would get sued for that ?

Hi there! It was a misspeak, I meant Robby 🖤🖤🖤
Thanks for doing the video. Quite interesting!
I'm so glad you enjoyed watching!! Thank you for letting me know you liked it 🎸🤘🏻❤️🖤
it's probably better he is buried in pere lachaise. no doubt many of this olympiads olympic athletes in paris will take home memories of their pilgrimages around paris to historic sites, but especially, the astronomically popular morrison gravesite in pere lachaise. they will draw more people to listen to his music and remember him as a rock legend. probably already the media coming for the olympics has made dozens of shoots for paris olympics background stories. does anybody honestly think all the residents of paris never heard of jim morrison? i bet his pictures plaster one of the nearby metro stations.
if jim morrison's remains had been sent back, it still would draw fans, but when people go to paris, they get a buy one trip to paris, get one trip free to jim morrison's gravesite. more people take advantage.
even when morrison's was an AYCE buffet restaurant chain, which had its florida franchises too, i cannot help remembering jim morrison. same for van morrison, also a legend in his own right.
finally, imagine all the tributes inspired when rock stars came to paris and visited morrison's gravesite. like this one, by simple minds. it wouldn't have happened in a melbourne concert tour stopover. can't you hear the ad-libbed tribute to jim morrison in Book of Brilliant Things, amidst regalia and some bars quite like the theme from jethro tull's Thick as a Brick.

Dude, 🛑.
He is not buried nect to Oscar Wilde. He would have rolled over in his
Grave if he had been taken out of the Paris cemetary. How
Absurd
Père Lachaise is HUGE! The two sites are actually nowhere near each other. Fun video, though.
I hope to see Père Lachaise someday! I believe, if rumors are to be believed, it was Oscar Wilde's gravesite that made Jim Morrison say he would like to be buried there also (allegedly), right? It must be a beautiful cemetery. It's definitely on my bucketlist!
If u we’re a …. True doors fan , u would know the guitarist name is not bobby krieger
The gravesite is nowhere near Oscar Wilde's.
It was lots of fun! I've driven past the former hospital site 100 times and never knew it! Thanks for the house address. The Zillow pics are so sad.
BTW, if you ever have an opportunity to visit Père Lachaise, I highly recommend it. My husband and I spent hours walking through it and still didn't cover all of it. Some of the markers and memorials are absolutely stunning.
I hope we can make it to Paris and see Père Lachaise one of these days! It's a bucketlist item, for sure!
Thats way to much $$ for that
House he was only 6mos. Old
I agree!!! 😂😂😂. I guess you can't put a price on association though. Someone was willing to pay it!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
There are plenty of cheap rooms for rent because of all the crackheads near his birth house.
Oh wow... it looked like a pretty nice neighborhood to me. Just a block from downtown, and Melbourne has a really cute downtown area. Hope you liked the video! 🩷
He wasnt obese
A little over weight maybe but not obese.
Hi there! I don't have photos or an actual weight of Jim Morrison in the final days of his life, but I am quoting from an article that is linked below as far as his weight. "Obese" is the word used in the article. Hope that helps! 🎸🤘🏻

Err..that's Robby not Bobby Krieger...BIG Doors fan huh? 😂😂
House is nextdoor to a drug treatment clinic 😅
Oh wow totally did not know that! The area feels super safe & quiet though!
@@michaelandjulieYes, the area is safe. I just thought how ironic it is
Lived there for a year. Its even less impressive than the video portrays.
@@michaelandjulie Better to not use music then...really truly...you´re talking about a band with great music. Don´t play crappy music.
Thank you for the constructive criticism. I will definitely take it into consideration in the future!
