Congratulations, you are the first one on RUclips to do a full reaction to "The Last Dragon".
It's an amazing classic!
Brandon Tenold also did a reaction on his channel!
@@monkeybash3000 well movie review but pretty much the same thing.
A guilty pleasure of mine. Reminds you why we all hated 80s fashion...
@@monkeybash3000 Same with Caped Informer. He also did a reaction to it.
can confirm... lol god this movie..
One of the most underrated movies of all times!...
True
Sho'Nuff!
Definitely!
Super Fax!! It’s my favorite too!!
@@thrillwillent She Really Need to React to that Martial Arts Movie Blood and Bone and Never back down With Michael Jai White Those are Good also 💯
RIP Laura Charles aka Vanity Denise Katrina Matthews (January 4, 1959 - February 15, 2016),
She was so beautiful...she got out the entertainment industry and became a Christian missionary before her passing away years ago
RIP Sho-Nuff Julius John Carry III (March 12, 1952 - August 19, 2008)
Excellent performance that wont ever be forgotten and always meme'd
RIP Ritchie Leo O'Brien (November 12, 1970 - October 10, 2012)
gone too soon
This classic movie was way ahead of its time, doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Have to give Sho'Nuff props. Dude still tried to throw down after seeing Leroy got the Glow. If I was fighting a dude and his arms starting leaving after-images, I'd peace out.
Used to love this movie as a kid! This, the Golden Child, and Big Trouble in Little China all had me pretending I knew martial arts.
yes, we need to get her to watch the Golden Child. Eddie couldnt miss in the 80s and 90s
@@Qdub34 nah he definitely missed with that 3rd Beverly Hills Cops😭
@@avgnfandon2 I like the 3rd one, but it definitely wasn't anything like the first two. It wasn't trying to take itself too seriously, but it had it's moments and it was good to see some of the cast members again (like Billy).
@@Qdub34 I can respect that, it’s been a minute since I’ve seen it so maybe I should give it another chance
@@Qdub34 I think I heard or read somewhere that Eddie hated golden child. he called the movie a POS.
Saw it in theater, theater was basically a cinder block wall painted white, sound echoed too much, seats were old and broken, floors were sticky, I wore my Purple Rain t-shirt (because Vanity is in TLD and she was a Prince protege) & my neon sneakers, had the biggest bucket of popcorn I ever had in my life, and had the best time of my life! I love this film 💘
All hail the Mighty Grindhouse!! I had the same experience in my old Grindhouse theater when this came out, good times!!
i was born in 84 and this has always been my movie. I would love to see it in a theater
I was a little white girl who went to see this in the $1 movies when it was out originally and my mom was in terror because we were the only white people in the whole theater. (She's grown up since.) My brother and I loved the movie and we quote it to this day. My kids (now grown) love this movie, and when my granddaughter is born in Dec. she will grow up knowing the answer to 'Am I the baddest? Am I the prettiest? Am I the meanest mo-fo low down around this town?'
I had the Same experience. The town I grew up in had 3 Theaters like that & they All we're on the same Street & only had one Theater Room. A giant white cinder block Room.
Julius Carry (Sho Nuff) wasn't a trained fighter, but he makes you believe he was a master. That final fight was EPIC!
Also, that top is bangin.
Loved him as Lord Bowlr on “The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr.”
Its a shame he died so young. I loved his acting
Taimak (Leroy) helped him with the martial arts. And Julius helped him with the acting.
Fun fact! You might recognize the yellow jumpsuit with the black stripe from the showdown in kill bill volume 1. Both are callbacks to the Bruce Lee movie The Game of De*th
I find it odd that you'd censor 'death'. But you're spot on.
@@aipaloovik i was worried the youtube algorithm would censor or review my comment so I was being careful 😅
@@SEOshogun They'd demonitize or copyright strike the video before looking through comments. Subject matter, etc. But the solidarity is very much appreciated.
she 100% recognized it...the first time it was on screen she said "free kill bill." and immediately praised the costume design.
Sad that the movie was sort of incomplete. The versions released had a stand in, stock footage from last bruce lee films, and a different plot. Original had a plot that focused on fighting different martial artists while holding some plot about rescuing someone.
"Chocolate Covered Yellow Peril!" 🤣🤣🤣 I forgot how savage his little brother was. Ahh the jokes you couldn't get away with today.
This feels like a rites of passage ceremony lol
Yes!
Leeroyyy Jennnkinnnns!!!!

This is one of those movies that you cant hold back a few nostalgic tears while watching if you've seen it as a kid and grew up with it...this reaction is EVERYTHING💯🤣💯
I wish I had it as a kid 🙌🏾! And thank you!!
"This black folks business" 🤣
"We like cornballs over here" 🙏🏿
Endlessly quotable.
“He Ain’t No Cornball.. he’s my brother… and he’s The Master!”
"Kiss my Converse." Man this is as quotable a movie as any of them, what a classic.
I saw this in the movies when it came out. Taimok aka Bruce Leroy, was plastered over every girl's wall during the 80's. And yes, that was Keisha Knight Pulliam playing his little sister. I was cracking up at you saying must be a Terminator outside when the dog was barking lol
"Taimok aka Bruce Leroy, was plastered over every girl's wall during the 80's." Thirty seven seconds into the video and Alanda's reaction to seeing "Bruce Leroy" for the first time confirms your claim...for me.
I know he was on mine!!! Lord he was my crush in middle school!
Facts! He was definitely on mine 🤣

Vanity looked like a goddess at the end.....Rest in peace Denise
Sorry, she did not want to be associated with Vanity.
@@tyanavadau that's why I said "Denise"....😒
Taimak (Leroy) is quite the martial artist and at 50+ is still in amazing shape. There was so many rumors about a reboot of The Last Dragon, however I doubt that it’ll ever come to fruition. Imo, doesn’t need one. The OG is cheesy but greatness.
Sho nuff was the baddest villain, in movie history. I love this movie 🎥 seen this so many times. Rest in peace to Julius Curry( Sho Nuff) & Laura Charles ( Vanity) #ClassicFilm
Actually I think Laura Charles is still alive. She's a pastor or something. She wrote a book called, "Blame it on Vanity" about her getting hooked on drugs & stuff while working in Hollywood. Let me know if I'm wrong though. I think she's still healthy & alive, just retired from acting.
@@tomesofawesome8041 Sadly Denise Matthew's passed away in 2016.
@@hoos3014 Yes in Feb of that year. But with David Bowie and Glen Frye and Phife Dog passing away around that time she was looked over. And then Prince passed away 2 months later in April.
You'd have to look it up, because it's been a while since I looked her up. But from what I remember, she was chosen to join a talent scout/group by the artist formally known as Prince. While doing the music/film circuit, she got hooked on drugs & or alcahol.
@@tomesofawesome8041 I don't need to look her up. I'm old enough to have been around when she came out. Prince created two groups to release more of his songs. A band named The Time lead by Morris Day and a girl group named Vanity 6 lead by Denise Matthew renamed Vanity. She left Prince's camp before Purple Rain came out and was replaced by Appollonia in both movie and group. She then signed with Motown which is why she was in The Last Dragon.
I've seen this a hundred times. I really wish films would take gambles like this. Kung fu , motown and Warriors mixed together with comedy. Also RIP Vanity
HONESTLY SO GOOD! 😫
I love this movie and been one of my favorite movie since I was 11 anytime you want to know about movies you haven’t seen let me know
I know a lot of people know this movie - the other day I was doing Tai Chi in a park, and a woman passing by goes, “HE’S GOT THAT GLOW, HAHAHAHA”, and I don’t think I was actually glowing :)
Never seen Bruce Lee?
I think a reaction to "Enter the Dragon" needs to happen soon
Absolutely!!
It's practically mandatory.
Hell yes watch Enter the Dragon
Enter the Dragon & Game of Death are equally my favorite Bruce Lee films
We still haven't gotten a "Enter The Dragon" reaction. I'm gonna have to request that next...
The actor that played Sho'Nuff was the co-star of the 90's Fox western/sci-fi/comedy series The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. It is a treasure to watch him act in it.
One of my favorite B movies. Awesome soundtrack, and they did a White Party decades before P-Diddy did it.
Sadly several members of the cast are no longer with us...
R. I. P.
Leo O'Brien who played little brother Richie,
Julius Carry who played Sho'nuff,
and Vanity who played love interest Laura.
This was the best reaction yet. Saw this in the theatre as a kid. It was a 10 then and it's still a 10 now. And not only was that little Rudy but Theo's boy Cockroach is the kid in the Green's pizza shop.
Aka Cole from Martin 😊
I saw this movie as a kid and loved it, but to be honest I wanted to be Sho' Nuff because he was just cooler.
As a kid, my friends and I loved to quote "Who's the Master? Sho Nuff!"
-
I also love the lyrics to the song at the climax:
-
Take life one day at a time
That's what a wise man said to me.
He said, "Life, in all it's complexity
Is the ultimate test for you and me."
-
When you walk holding your head up high
For the masters watching you from the sky
I know not what trouble lies ahead
Before you fight, use your head.
-
It's time to leave my nest where you were born
This journey you must make alone.
(Spread your wings and fly)
There's a power deep inside you, an inner strength
You'll find in time of need.
(The Glow)
-
Like the seasons, love will come and go
If it's right, you'll automatically know.
The world of mystery exists only in your head.
When you become one with yourself
The wall will fall
-
The journey now before you is the final test
You've learned your lesson well.
(I can teach you no more)
There's a power deep inside you, an inner strength
You'll find in time of need.
(The Glow)
-
You are the Last Dragon
You posess the power of the Glow
You are the Last Dragon
You posess the power of the Glow

You posess the power of the Glow
You are the Last Dragon
You posess the power of the Glow

R,I,P.. Vanity - Laura Charles -- Julius Carry -Sho'nuff -- Leo O'Brien - Richie Green and any others also :):)
The best part of the movie was seeing Vanity; she's so gorgeous.
100% agree she was stunning
I actually saw this in theaters as a child. Those 80s styles were the norm for me.
I did, too, bruh! I was 6 or 7.
@@1Dub79 I think I was 7.

Alanda, your review of The Last Dragon, a classic 80’s film, sets you apart from all other reactors! The look of enjoyment on your face as you watch the movie is all of us who grew up around this movie. As usual, you’re awesome! 🙏🏿
I wish I could erase my memory of this movie so I could watch it for the first time again… 😩
Funny she said Angela’s daddy from Boy meets world....cause when the show actually aired on abc i use to watch this on cable all the time and I said the same thing in reverse “Angela’s dad is Sho’nuff, from the last Dragon” lol
Imma get there, damn! 😂
One of my cable favorites growing up! Sho'nuff is one of my favorite movie villains!
this was one of my favorite movies growing up. when it came on local tv in New Jersey i would NEVER change the channel.
it was produced and directed by Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records. this is his first and only film. its pure gold...
Her: "Why is the little boy gagged?"
Me: Have you not listened to his smart mouth? Who wouldn't gag him?
The delight I got from you saying, "He has the Glow!" cannot be overstated.
CLASSIC! There I say, CLASSIC!
Alanda has unlocked the glow with this reaction. SHO’ NUFF. #KissMyConverse
😂 😍 🙌🏾
Love love love this reaction. Vanity, the lead female in the movie, was Prince’s ex-girlfriend. She was also a singer in her own right. Taimak, who played Bruce Leroy, has a book out which is quite a good read.
Alanda’s enthusiasm is completely infectious. 😊

Amazing enough. Taimak aka "Leroy" looks damn near EXACTLY the same today and believe he's in his 60's.
Yes he is still extra fine❤️
He was born the year of the Dragon also....will be 57 this year.

He's little skinnier but he looks the same
That little kid is Ernie Reyes Jr. he had a tv show in the 80s and appears in several movies like Red Sonja and more recently The Rundown
and dont forget, TMNT
I remember seeing him in lots of martial arts magazines. He did some print ads with Chuck Norris, iirc.
He was also in Act of Valor and fought for Strikeforce
Yep, Ernie was in an action show called "Sidekicks" in 1986 through 1987 on ABC.
The Last Electric Knight with Gil Gerrad aka BUCK ROGERS
Not enough people have seen this movie! This is my sister and I’s favorite movie. We went through so many vhs tapes and later dvd’s, it’s the best.
I knew you’d love this one as soon as I saw it in your list.
RIP Vanity.
Not the "light-skinned babies" 🤣
Also, there's a scene in Sorry to Bother You in which Tessa Thompson reads the script of this movie as performance art... hilarious.
I DEF need to see Sorry To Bother You. I've been saving it for so long, I don't know what I'm waiting for 😂
Definitely do a review of Sorry To Bother You 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have always loved this movie. I enjoyed watching your reaction to it. I can't seem to show this movie to anyone without them thinking I'm crazy. Just the bits of the movie I saw here made me happy. I need to find it on a DVD somewhere.
Just Directa your feetza to Daddy Green's Pizza. Such a great movie. And just look how young Ernie Reyes Jr. was.
This brings back memories of me and the cousins in the middle of the living room floor playing "Who's The Master". Basically a game of make em call quits. And also you should do a Bruce Lee movie!
She should definitely react to a Bruce Lee movie! I'm thinking either "Fists of Fury" or the last film he did with the yellow jumpsuit.
This movie has so much heart and soul, with a perfect amount of camp. It's an absolute joy to watch and everyone should sit down with it when they get an opportunity.
Great reaction. One of my favorite movies of all time. Soundtrack was banging. Sho nuff is all time classic movie villain. He was mirror opposite of Bruce Leroy. He embrace violence of the art. Leroy embrace the non violence path.
*I love ALL your reactions but this hit different for me! I grew up in the NY Martial Arts scene and for African Americans this was the biggest movie because in all Martial Arts movies we were either killed off or made to be Sambo's. Some of the greatest Martial Artist were/are Black and we still don't get recognition (ex: Steve Muhammad, Fredia "The Cheetah" Gibbs). Taimak (Bruce Lee Roy) was one of the nicest people in Martial Arts I've met and his Dad is a legendary Martial Artist as well. Nowadays most of the African American MA community reside in Sunny LA. This movie brings tears to my eyes because we had representation but also seeing it now is sad because Vanity (Laura Charles) is dead and so is Sho' Nuff*
"Bet ya wish ya had it like Leroy"
"You lucky to be here. This black folks' business"
This video is so quotable!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Every 80's baby grew up watching this cult-classic. 😎
Yes! 👍🏾
That's been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid. I grew up watching The Last Dragon. I would watch it so often when I was a child the soundtrack would be playing in my head all day while I was at school. It's one of those movies I never get tired watching
Great reaction. I remember watching this in the theaters. One of my favorite movies of all time.
"Who's the master!? Shonuff! The Shogun of Harlem! " Classic!
Alanda: HE HAS THE GLOW?!
ShoNuff: Play times over, BOY!
Alanda: awww damn!
This movie was my favorite movie of all time as a kid and still inspires me to be a better person to this day! Thanks for this reaction! Its so much fun to see you enjoy it!
I saw this when I was little in the movie theater with my dad we went to see Baby secret of the lost legand and my Dad snuck us into Last Dragon lmao its still one of my favorites!!!! SHO NUFF!
I love the eyebrow raise when you caught your first glimpse at Leroy.
Can't imagine how many times I saw this movie over and over again as a kid on VCR. The final fight with that song is the signature of this move. Awesome!
The way he says "I am" first almost amused by accepting the reality of that fact, then repeating it once more, but assertive and confident always gives me chills.
That's when you hit that max level in a game and know you're ready.
If you haven't seen "The Five Heartbeats" you should, another classic Saturday movie
If you watch the music video to "dangerous" by Busta rhymes, he dresses up as sho nuff and pulls it off very well :). Classic movie from my childhood
I remember seeing this video and had NO CLUE! It's a shame, the American Education System 😂
@Marty McFly II "That's not true🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿!!!"
@Marty McFly II "OH! I can confirm and so can Taimak Guarreillo, that's his last name because he's half-italian, just read or listen too his autobiography, 'Taimak Guarreillo:The Last Dragon'. Taimak goes into great detail about what Berry Gordy & his henchman, sorry, not sorry henchwoman Suzanne Dupasse try to do too him while supposed 'negotiations' on the terms of the contract too do another one. And I wouldn't be surprised if TriStar, which is a subsidiary of Sony Pictures, was in on all the bs because if Sony/TriStar really wanted too do a sequel, then they would have overrode Berry Gordy & approached Taimak correct & got the deal done where it could have worked for everybody. So their silence sorta speak volumes & tells me that they were complisent in just standing in the background & letting Gordy & Dupasse just tag-team, good cop/bad cop an 20-to-21 year old young man who knew noting about the entertainment industry/movie business. As far as I'm concerned, Sony are just as guilty for trying to bully Taimak into signing a contract that wasn't worth shyt. But that's just me🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿!!!"
@Marty McFly II "As for 'Suki Yaki Hot Suki Sue', I don't know if that's Berry Gordy son or not, but I will share a fun fact with ya, that is Taimak favorite song off the soundtrack💁🏿💁🏿💁🏿. And as for why the rest of the soundtrack wasn't released, don't know the answer to that either, I don't know what that man was thinking. You have quickly become one of my favorite reviewers. I was so glad that you were the first to review one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw this dozens of times, when I was a kid. The Berry Gordy soundtrack was amazing. Taimak was so badass, in this role. Vanity was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Sho-Nuff was so over the top. It's still one of my favorites till this day. And that soundtrack! Sooooo GOOD especially the main theme. You are the Last Dragon you possess the power of the GLOW!
I am so glad that somebody has finally reacted to this wonderful movie. This movie is in the top 10 best movies of all time IMO. 1st: Yes that was a young Rudy Huxtable, 2nd: The little boy martial artist was Ernie Reyes Jr. He was the actor/martial artist inside the Donatello costume for the first TMNT and he was the pizza delivery guy in TMNT 2. Additionally, he was in the movie Surf Ninjas with his father Ernie Reyes Sr. 3rd: Laura Charles was played by actress/musician Vanity. R.I.P.
I'm impressed that you caught William H. Macy, but did you recognize the limo driver? That's Chazz Palminteri.
I was a teen the first time I saw this movie, fell in love with it the first time I saw it. The only complaint I have about it is that it's not as popular as it should be.
Absolutely still love it to this day.
Ah the 80’s. I’ve seen that movie about 100 times. Loved it when I was a kid
I....LOVE....Sho Nuff! His over the top, scenery chewing persona, was just so fantastic, from start to finish. To this DAY, I will still respond to any question that someone says, that starts with "Am I something something something?" with "SHO NUFF!" Usually to their utter confusion, but I don't do it for them! Long live the Shogun of Harlem! SHO NUFF!
Yaaaaas!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😝 This was my fav movie when I was a kid.I saw it in the theater and the way the theater erupted when Leroy said “I am”...good times!!
And if you get a chance there is a remake of the theme song The Glow done by Victoria Monet that was in season 3 of Insecure that stays in rotation on my feel good playlist.
This movie did it all for me!
and WHAT?!?! I love Victoria Monet and I know there's a scene in Insecure where they go watch Last Dragon (but it was lost on me back when I saw the ep 🥴). I NEED this track.

It's about time someone seen this legendary movie!!!
In my country this was a hit on afternoon television. Memes and talks about it happen to this day. This and Big Trouble in Little China were classicss for us in TV. Mostly because it came to us during the mid 90's
To this day I still say “Chill out, Chopsticks!” because of this movie.
The Last Dragon soundtrack was dopeness
LITERALLY MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME 😄🔥
“I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” is a must watch.
Oh man I grew up watching this on TV. My face always hurts from laughing and smiling too damned much.
I'm glad you chose to react to this and got such a kick out of it. Your commentary was an A+ for humor. It may be underrated but it's one of my favorite movies 80s movies.
This was the film that got me into DeBarge's Rhythm of the Night!!! And it's sad to think of the sheer amount of actors from this who are dead now!!!!! :(
I love this reaction, made my day, thank you. That was Rudy, the fighting kid is Ernie Reyes jr, the legend, this was his first film. It was also Taimak's first acting role
I think Ernie Reyes Sr. was the last guy he was beating up in the big fight scene. I remember both of them in Surf Ninjas and Sidekicks
This was my favorite movie as a child. I can't count how many times I've seen it. I can recite the dialog to this movie. And yes that was Rudy Huxtable as his sister.
So glad you reacted to The Last Dragon. One of my favorite movies of all time!!!
I've been watching this movie almost every year since I was a little girl, and it's still gets me hyped. The soundtrack is also excellent, have the whole thing on my playlists. Loved your reaction.
I love this movie! I remembered seeing this when I was younger with my Grandparents almost every weekend nights. As I gotten older was pleased to have a movie night with my Son's who actually fell in love with this movie aswell! Pure classic
I actually really like how Vanity and Not-Cindy Lauper weren't catty with each other. When Vanity is refusing to play the video, she makes a point to tell the other woman "It's not that I don't like it" trying to make sure she doesn't think she's shitting on her work. Just that she's refusing to play a video at gunpoint. And then, even after being denied, Not-Cindy Lauper tries to help her out by finishing her statement for her, so that Eddie doesn't go into homicidal mode on her. I always thought that was a really sweet touch.
Love this movie! I watched this all the time when I was a kid. It was so hard to come by on video. My family quoted this movie all the time and I still quote it when ever I get the chance. Cult classic to the extreme. I miss the 80s. I played the soundtrack into the ground too (til my Walkman ate the tape).
10 for mfking 10!! I grew up in Harlem and we all loved this film. That movie theater scene was exaggerated, but the theaters in Times Square used to show all the Kung Fu and Blaxploitation movies. It did get wild at times.
Sadly a lot of the original cast has passed away including the actor that played Leroy's little brother, Leo O'Brien. He passed a few years back, but he still lived in Harlem for years after the movie was made. In real life he was the little brother of Sugarhill Gang member Master Gee. He had just finished shooting a movie reuniting him with Taimak (Leroy) when he was shot and killed. I don't think the movie ever got released though.
So he and Taimak did another movie? I wanna see it. They had real sibling chemistry.
Awesome reaction! Yes that was "Rudy Huxtable" I believe her debut roll. And "Sho Nuff" is a Chicago native, my home town, his mother was a minister at the church my grandmother attends. Her name was Helen, unfortunately they both past away, his recently.
When I was younger & used to watch this damn near everyday, I remember my Mom & Pop was like "what the hell were you doing" when they saw the ceiling of the bathroom was soaked w/ water. The scene where "Mr. Nuff" (🤣) snatches Leroy's head out the water then Leroy gets the glow.... I did that scene over & over in the tub.....hence fvckin up the ceiling. LMAOOOOOO
This movie will never. Get. OLD! Blew my mind as a wide-eyed 5-year old boy back when it first came out and still gives me "glowing" feelings even today:::wink:::wink:::love your reaction to this one, too! Pray a TV series based off of it will finally come into being, heard rumors the last few years but that's about it...
>;-)
This was the best reaction video I've ever watched. I've seen this movie dozens of times, watched it on the big screen when it first came out. This made me feel like I was seeing it for the very first time!
It's awesome you got around to this. I haven't seen is really since it came out, but your reactions are priceless. Leroy's jumpsuit was one that Bruce Lee wore that Tarintino based the Bride's jumpsuit on. I like the Terminator call back with the barking dog. What a great time!
First time seeing someone say “That’s Angela’s daddy from Boy Meets World” me being an OG BMW watcher when he first appeared.....”oh snap that’s Sho Nuff!” Lol RIP 😔☺️
