U5-100 - Frankfurts längste U-Bahnen

Man teile einen U5-50 in der Mitte in zwei Hälften à 25 Meter und füge anschließend zwei neue führerstandslose U5-25 Mittelteile dazwischen ein - fertig ist Frankfurts längste durchgängig begehbare U-Bahn. Der so gebildete 100 Meter lange Zug weist stolze 24 Achsen auf und bietet insgesamt 186 Sitz- sowie 580 Stehplätze. Die hiesige Presse schien auf jeden Fall begeistert zu sein und schrieb ihrerseits von "der längsten U-Bahn der Welt". Bis auf einige wenige Details unterscheiden sich die neuen Mittelteile im Innenraum jedoch nicht von den bereits seit 2008 in Frankfurt heimischen U5-Wagen, die bislang als 25 oder 50 Meter lange Zugeinheiten unterwegs waren. Gut möglich also, dass der normale Fahrgast von dieser Neuerung kaum Notiz vernimmt.
Seit ein paar Wochen verirrt sich hin und wieder ein U5-100 Zugverband auf der U4, dieses Video beinhaltet ein paar wenige Eindrücke hiervon. Noch ist es etwas besonderes, schon bald aber lediglich normaler Alltag.

For a few weeks now, a 100-metre-long walk-through train has entered in service on the subway in Frankfurt (Germany). This called U5-100 train has been formed by subsequently inserting two new 25-metre-long centre cars withouth driver cabins in the middle of existing 50-metre-long U5-50 trains.
In total it features 24 axles and offers a total of 186 seats and 580 standing places. The local press certainly seemed to be enthusiastic and wrote of "the longest underground train in the world". Apart from a few details, however, the interior of the new middle sections does not differ from the conventional U5 cars, which have been at home in Frankfurt since 2008 and were previously 25- or 50-metre-long train units. So it is quite possible that the normal passenger will hardly notice this innovation.
Every now and then such a U5-100 train unit runs on the U4, this video contains a few impressions of it. Still something special, but soon enough it will just be normal everyday life.
