As a blue jays fan, all I wanna say about this series is that the Dodgers Commentators are super fun to listen to. I pretty much exclusively watched dodgers broadcasts for them and I might carry on to other games the dodgers play.
In Don's defense, despite the compilation, he is usually the calm one in the dugout, at least when the cameras pan over to the dugout. Walker and Schneider are the ones that get to chirping when ball and strikes are being questioned. I can't even remember the last player we had thrown out. The days of Brett Lawrie are long gone lol.
THANK you for pointing out the stupid strike-zone boxes. This one was particularly bad, but it seems like the zone these days is "middle of knees to top of cup" instead of "middle of chest". This crap makes it REALLY bad to call younger kids/a real strike zone, where coaches/dads get pissed because a middle-bellybutton pitch is a strike. MLB needs to get this box FIXED already, and pitchers need to start getting mad about how much they are getting squeezed.
@@teebob21 based on what Lindsay said, the official numbers were the same size here. So they can mess it up, but this one is what MLB has in the official offsets.
@@TheFreshmanWIT Yeah, I totally agree. It's one of the primary reasons I oppose automated balls and strikes. The computer assumes that the top and the bottom are the same for every batter all season long every at-bat and every pitch. This is not consistent with the rules and definitions of the game. Additionally, when sz_top is dick-high, there's clearly a calibration problem. If you're going to abdicate judgment to technology, it better be 110% correct every single time.
Donnie never looks tough when he argues. He goes out there with a mopey posture, flapping his arms, and the expression of a whiny child who's been up past his bedtime.
I see this a lot. I am wondering if some of the umpires are being influence with the home team because of the fans? I see the same thing happen on both sides, but it seems like the road team gets punished more by getting thrown out faster.
Watching Jays games all season, Belt seems to get a pitch like that one called on him at least once an at bat or more. I'm not really sure why that happens. But yeah. I thought of that too when Dan said that about Mattingly. 🤣
He’s totally right. These umps are way too concerned about what’s going on in the dugout. Pay attention to the game and you might get a call right occasionally.
Don Mattingly mild mannered, that's funny. I know of one time the cops had to be called because he threatened to kick the umpire's ass in the parking lot after his kid got ejected from a legion tournament game.
Maybe Don Mattingly turned over a new leaf for the 2023 season. After all, he didn't come out yelling on the field when he got flicked. That demonstrated a milder manner.
Armpits have nothing to do with the strike zone anymore. Top of the zone is the midpoint between the top of the uniform pants and the batter's shoulders.
The problem is ....Don Mattingly was right! The umpire was constantly calling Dodger pitches that were way out of the strike zone strikes on the Blue Jays and if the Blue Jays pitches were even a hair out of the zone , they were balls! It was happening all series and was even worse in the series against the Mariners! The worst thing any game official in any sport can do is lose their temper! You see MLB umpires lose their temper on a regular basis (massive EGOs) and the result is unwarranted ejections! As was the case here! It's just flat out POOR umpiring! MLB knows it and doesn't care! my OPINION without prejudice 🦂
Lindsay covered it. It was clearly a bad call, not much of a story there. Mattingly chirped, got tossed, and there was about as civil a post-ejection conversation that you'll ever see. There isn't a whole lot to analyze here.
@@oilersbluejayscanada Exactly. I come here because I like to here Lindsay's take on things. I may not agree on every point, but I like to learn things. I've learned a lot more about the rules of the game here than anywhere else.
Mattingly refuses to trim sideburns, is asked to leave
😂😂😂😂😂
"I still like him better than Steinbrenner."
A+
Lol Mr. Burns
Why is it that I never seem to know what Donnie's up to until he turns up on this channel?
Brilliant use of the 1812 Overture. Nearly fell out of my chair🤣
It should be mandatory for all argument montages.
Compared to pre-2000 managers, he is mild mannered. However, The Bad News Bears music is a nice touch to the vid.

I've heard them a bunch and they are the best.
So is their organ player Dieter Ruhele,
@@kinkaid7477 Yes! the organist was great
There was a bench clearing in Houston and two ejections.
Admit it, you had that Mattingly compilation ready for just such an occasion. 🤣

I always love hearing "the home base umpieya" whenever I watch a TOR highlight
Ya Don isn’t new to being kicked out.
Nice Donny highlight reel 😂
Top of strike zone is defined as midpoint between back shoulder and belt at launch point
Atta babe Lindsay!
Love those clever tangents CCS breaks out between those umpire education segments.😂 Keep it up crew.👏👏
Thanks for all you do. 👍

Buttermaker, Now there's a Mild Mannered Manager. "You guys swing like Helen Keller at a Piñata party."
I heard Blue Jays Dodgers and expected Don to be wearing Dodger blue. It's been a hot minute and I forgot where he landed now.

161 ejections July 27th. At this rate 250 to 300 ejections are coming this season.
He is a very mild mannered individual when we are on the plane playing hearts and sipping wine.
I'm not surprised its the crew with C.B. Bucknor...of course this will happen

This is a good one about the mild manner fact check 😂😂
you hit 'em with a "hunny, lemme tell ya..." and i laughed my bagel out of my mouth.
Hope May’s supervisor gets him some glasses
I will add that comment would make me laugh postgame.
“If you could see as good as you hear, we wouldn’t be in this position.”
Missed the chance to say brandon belt high

Ah, yes, THAT Don Mattingly. He played 2B for the New York Mets - very patient man. The one who wears glasses and doesn't have a mustache at all.
Don Mattingly is my favorite player of all time hands down.
Can’t wait for the TX v HOU video now
LOL, thanks for this one...

Why did he wait until the 5th to do this? We all know he just wanted to get out of the heat.
"Honey"? Come on... chill
Lol John cena is a umpire now wow I guess I didn’t see him after all
I mean, compared to others, he is pretty mild mannered. 😂
CAN vs USA - Mattingly is gone from the game after Schneider. TOR (AL) vs LAD (NL)
LOL Mattingly has never been "mild mannered"
The man that walked out of the dugout is not Don Mattingly, who is he?
Manager John Schneider. Mattingly is the bench coach
Don M. Mannerly.
The M stands for mild.
“Cornerly” - love it!
Hahahah that announcer was sooo right. If you could call the game as good as you hear🤣🤣🤣 so true
It's a small miracle they're avoiding heat stroke in LA in July. My goodness, where is the perspective?

There was probably also some lingering bitterness from the previous game where CB Bucknor was bad for everyone.
Baseball is better without the broadcasters…trust me. Try it some time…turn the volume all the way down and enjoy the game in a whole new way.
Nah. Schulman is one of the best. And I understand that the Dodgers team is pretty good as well.
Knees to armpits!
Let’s focus on the ejectee’s history rather than the fact that he was correct that the umpire made a terrible call.
