The sad part is just how they almost 100% exclusively covered the environmental aspect of this tragedy in the news when it happened. I say this because until this movie got me to look into it some more,I had absolutely no clue that there was even so much as a papercut and a trash can fire let alone explosions and loss of life. I had seen NOTHING WHATSOEVER on the news about that part.
The news media always makes it out to be worst than it really is, they make a mountain out of a mole hill. I’ve seen crude 4” thick all around a blowout platform. It happened before and it will happen again. God bless the souls.

This really hits home.. My husband used to be a (forgive me but this is his words) “Rig Pig” who worked offshore on oil rigs. He’s been through fires, work mates being killed and he him self has been injured. It takes a certain type of person to be able to work in this industry and this movie did an amazing job at not only recognising what happened on the Deep Water Horizon, or remembering those 11 people who lost their lives but also to make us all remember that now there are so many people putting their lives in a dangerous situation for everyone else. May the people who have lost their lives and not only on the Deep Water Horizon but on any oil rig RIP xxx
It's shocking to me that I found out people died from watching this film. I had no idea there was any kind of dangerous situation. As far as I was aware some oil rig had a major leak, that was the extent of the situation. The media failed big time.
Lets not forget Piper Alpha, in which tragically, most of the rig workers perished. The lessons learned that day have not only changed the safety of rigs and rig workers, but the whole petrochemical industry. Piper Alpha still stands as Britain's worst oil disaster.

thanks to this movie for actually showing the human tragedies of deepwater horizon. Everyone talks about the oil spill and environmental disaster and not the fact that 11 people just died and many more barely survived the incident.
Right.... Deeply Emotional Movie.. I wasn't even aware of Any of this... But they are Quick to cover who is sexing who and other BS.... Sad Story but Inspirational.
I can tell by Mike's response to Mark's question about something being done differently, quickly giving a pat answer about evidence being under the sea and giving Transocean/Halliburton/BP the benefit of the doubt, he might have been threatened by someone with retribution if he says the wrong thing to the press. There has to be much more to the story and to his feelings than just that. He also uses a performative "I have to tell myself every day" to preface his answer, which betrays that he has much deeper feelings or other information that he is not sharing in this interview. He may be under a gag order.
And you totally did just as the media did, focused on what happened to cause the disaster, and totally dismissed the focus of his point (and subsequently, the whole point of the movie), the fact that 11 people died that night, and that they and the survivors were totally forgotten about after the disaster. Of course, he's probably got a lot of deeper feelings and thoughts on the whole disaster, but again, that is not the point of this movie. So why even focus on it, especially when there are dozens of videos here on youtube alone that focus on said "conspiracy narratives".
I never was a fan of mark wahlberg as an actor. I always just felt like he wasn’t really of any value artistically, since he pretty much acts the same in every movie he’s in. But now I see him as somebody who tells the great stories of the brave men that often get overlooked.
Before the Deepwater Horizon blowout, there were other near misses within the industry that the public never heard about. The industry was complacent and a tragedy was inevitable. This was a tough lesson to learn, but it will be forgotten as the years go by.
That was one of the most infuriating things about that horrible event. All anyone wanted to talk about was the environmental impact. I can recall one.... ONE.... story about the lives lost. Most don't have a clue.

The fact that they went to charge BP officials with manslaughter and then quietly walked it back a couple years later speaks volumes about the state of our government and judicial system. Disgusting.
That oil under the seabed is quite literally dead dinosaurs. That crude oil is used to make everything plastic, rubber, gasoline, motor oil, asphalt for roads, and fuel to make everything else. It's pretty mind blowing.
For reference, a huge oil field consists of roughly 250+ million barrels of oil. Roughly that amount “spilled” out through the disaster at deepwater horizon. They were exploring and drilling an oil field of about 3-4 billion barrels of oil, insane riches involved so the story becomes clearer and clearer
It was a hard movie to watch, knowing that eleven people died during the disaster. Those guys were just doing their jobs. This wasn't a Michael Bay-style disaster extravaganza, it realistically showed a horrific industrial accident that never should have happened.
That spill caused a cluster of illness in surrounding coastal towns, many having to do with oil consuming fungus sprayed too besides Corexit dispersants.

There was a feeling of loss among the ex-pats, and that feeling went on for the rest of our tour. Oil rig workers deserve a lot more credit than they get.

What is the macro positive illicit drug test rate within the oil and gas industry, as well as within the subset of maritime rig operations?

Ryan Scherbluk we as the research team are responsible for whatever happens in front of our machinery so, that is why we claim responsibility and public eye for how things go down. Are you not responsible for the people that are beneath you?

Marc looks very statesman like with that hair
Im no sissy but im tearing up over listening to the real Mike.
Say what you like about BP or the “roughnecks” but you have no clue what horrors they heard & saw & felt that fateful day/night. In the fight of their lives.
is walberg on downers?
batz capo he sounds drugged out
4:02 slurrin like a bitch
I believe he is just trying to be low key and not take away from what the man he is speaking with has been through. One can never tell what another is feeling or going through without Being that person. To speculate is to assume.. and to assume anything without proof is usually asinine. Always try to think of how you have felt when you have been prejudged by others..
Came here to say this. He seems drunk...
batz capo try a sip of humble, my keyboard warrior....you will understand what the titled know.
It wasn't his fault he seems to blame himself understandable but the rig malfunctioned it said no pressure but there was how could you guys know you couldn't it was the rig not you guys.
Ryan Scherbluk we as the research team are responsible for whatever happens in front of our machinery so, that is why we claim responsibility and public eye for how things go down. Are you not responsible for the people that are beneath you?
Now we need someone in Hollywood to make a real life movie on the horrors, deaths , child labor, associated with the mining of precious minerals for the car batteries in the third world countries
Who was blamed for the disaster? Did the movie really give what happened that night justice?
The evidence was buried!
No offense but they don't look anything alive Kurt Russell would have made more sense playing Mike Williams
But I het it mark is the bigger actor at this point an mike is the main story
In incongruent part of this interview was this real man talking to two Hollyweidos. Did that second guy have eye shadow and lipstick on?
They look so alike…
Why didn’t Mike pull his STOP WORK CARD?
Walberg's feelin' no pain...
Not one of the +100 personnel pulled a “stop work”card!
Having worked as a safety officer offshore they are still taking enormous risks because of being too cool and $$$$$.
Wahlberg is half in the bag.
lostintechnicolor ' haha i reckon too'!
He is a hero
Which ones which? I can't tell, they're like twins.
Smullet90 how ??
0:23 do you think he was disappointed because he had hair
It’s so interesting to talk to people that have real jobs. How insulting
Mark is a good guy I hope he's not with the Illuminati just saying
I saw this movie yesterday for the third time. In my opinion the real catastrophe was a ritual 😔 the Date 20.04. is very famous by Illuminati, 11 dead people...all these Numbers..no coincidence. And these one scene, where a cross is burning with the american flag in the Background...i dont know...for me it looks like a ritual.
You don't become rich and famous unless you sell out.
@@milamia189 that’s not a cross, that’s a sailing tower. It’s existed for years even before America, maybe research a bit before jumping to conspiracy theories.
Is it me? Or does Mark seem high & uninvested in doing this interview?
Was mark drunk while doing this interview?!
IS Mark Wahlberg High or what?
0:50 only men died on Deepwater Horizon.
Women were on that rig as well. Triggered much, snowflake?
Is Mark drunk?
Jimmy died from cancer from this event.
