My husband was a supervisor for USPS until he retired. He asked one of the carriers what was going on. It appears that they are cutting mail, parcels and letters to be able to get back in before the truck leaves that evening. Meaning everyone's mail is getting to them late.

I attempted to file a missing mail report, only to get an error message over and over! Finally I did this and it worked (select Unknown for package content to bypass the error).
DAVE READ THIS. If you contact ebay you can get the time extended before you have to refund the buyer (if the package is still moving). If the package is lost, then USPS will refund you for it. Sometimes you have to refund though and then it gets delivered shortly after and they will not. The USPS missing mail thing on their site IS WORKING, I'm not sure what you are doing wrong there but it definitely is working because I have been putting in quiet a few of them. I usually do so as soon as the buyer contacts me and the package usually starts moving a day or so later. Hope this helps.
I had mailed out some ceramic christnas trees and one of them arrived broken, I had mentiond tht ground advantage was suppose to have insurance so she took the packge to the P.O.to try to get her money back. They told her since the package was opened they coulde not pay out. I was shocked, if the package was not opened how would anyone know if the item was damaged. that is just crazy to me

I’ve never refunded due to shipper losing package. I’ve never opened a case. eBay always let me keep my money and refunded the buyer on eBay’s dime. Just have to call.
Most of my sources live hours away, it's not that much of an inconvenience. It's not like you are meeting with them every day and if they can provide you with inventory say once a month, a tank or less of gas is worth the drive.

Currently USPS have lost a 48 x 6 x 6 package with a $200 golf club in it!!! How do you lose a package this big and unweildy? Feel your pain.
