I like to reset my eBay store every year around this time. The key is to put eyes on the items. This eliminates selling stuff I don’t have anymore and finding unlisted items. Also each day I like to delist the items ending that day and sell similar. Great vid thanx
I do believe that if a buyer frequently cancels orders, it can affect them negatively. It seems years ago I had gotten a warning. (My bank account had been compromised, and I had to cancel a few purchases. They were legit my orders, but my account was frozen with my money in it. )

Its no trouble if you say the customer wanted to cancel, but im sure those would build up too over time. I just left Dave a message telling him this too. It's such a crappy status to be in because your everyday common listings never get seen.
Some sellers do not allow buyers to purchase from them if they cancel "X" amount of times, its under Buyer Requirements I believe. So, it could effect them when they want to buy something later. I don't believe eBay cares much unless its excessive.
All you need to do is sell everything and start fresh with a sku inventory box system. Your a great reseller. You just need to be organzined and you will be great.
Dude. You've GOT to make an Inventory Audit a priority, before much worse happens. Yes, you would have to close your store for a week or so, and would lose that income. BUT.....if you continue on the path your on, your going to get a deactivated account, AND lose all your listings. Meaning there would be no way to relist them (even under a new store name) without rephotographing everything. Pick the lesser of two evils here, bite the bullet, and get your inventory balanced asap. Plus...it would make some great content (just imagine all the click-bait titles you can create :-) )
You don’t have the item that is the reason you should select. The buyer didn’t want you to lie about your reason so clarified with you. No a buyer doesn’t get a ding but that is not an excuse to use an incorrect reason. Glad you did the right thing.
Below-below standard is account suspension. You need to be careful getting too many out of stock defects. But you also shouldn't lie about the cancellation reason like some people are suggesting. People were getting suspended for doing that a while back.
I think you need to stop selling from your listed inventory. Just unlisted or at least unlist first before you allow yourself to sell on another platform

Why don’t you delist the items before you run an auction? I assume that most of the items you run on auction sell. Then after the auction just sell similar on the few that didn’t sell. That would also count as new listings.

We all make mistakes but as you find them you are correcting them, we all find mistakes in our listings from time to time, and maybe just a typo or tired but time to write it off and move on.

I see people complaining about getting dizzy watching you. Have you seen those selfie stick type cellphone holders? It might help stabilize the camera on you, & the background moving won't be so hard to handle
Dave, the "problem with buyer's address" is the proper weasel method of getting out of out of stock defects. You first offer the buyer a choice of a refund or alternate item. If you don't hear back from them then you KNOW that they also aren't going to do anything when you cancel for address reasons.
@@cassfonnesbeck8057 it’s an additional expense that’s not necessary. If you’re doing hundreds a day yeah sure go ahead and make things a little easier but it would still be an added expense. On the plus when I put the label on it tapes the box better for protection and protects the label from getting altered.

Have you ever considered stopping the eBay/crosslisting thing entirely, just make videos of you going out to sales/flea markets pointing out deals but only buying what you know can sell with live selling and then your cooking and amusement/eating videos will bring in the real revenue? I think that’s why it doesn’t seem like you have time to list, fill orders or even care that you’re below standard, because you don’t like doing that side any more? Wouldn’t it be great to just concentrate on the stuff that brings you joy (yes, and also happens to being in revenue: like cooking videos and love selling) instead of the rest which seems to just be giving you headaches? Dave, I was in the same boat as you are in right now with ebay and it took 1 full year to get out of the red headed step child seller status and it was all because of canceling orders because I didn't have the item because I sold it on whatnot and forgot to delist it. That woman telling you to do that is in some kind of trouble herself, probably due to being a habitual order canceler or something like that. Do NOT listen to that lady, she is dead WRONG! I want you to know that I just pulled over as an emergency stop to tell you this because I hate seeing you in the below standard category. But what you are suggesting is wrong. Saying a buyer asked to cancel when they didn't is against ebay policy. There were videos put out last year by some sellers who got suspended for saying buyer asked to cancel when they didn't.

He contacted HER asking if it was ok to cancel because he no longer had the item. She agreed. It is NOT a buyer request cancel, it is an out of stock. You shouldn’t never put buyer request unless the buyer contacts you.
And of course eBay can read their communication, so if Dave entered it as “Buyer requested to Cancel”, and the woman got upset and contacted eBay, it could be one of final nails in his store’s below-standard coffin. (That sounded worse than I meant it to…)

He could also prop the door to the garage open at night so heat from inside the house warms the garage. Too many solutions to keep saying the garage is cold. You can spend funds to go to an amusement park and spend the night but can’t fix your heating issue. C’mon quit being so flaky
Dave - don't waste your time calling eBay seller help. They give terrible (usually wrong) information and there's no transcript provided (like with chat seller help). The last few times I tried to get a live chat agent, it wasn't even an option. There is an option to email (much slower response), but I find that method to at least be accurate and of course you have a record in your inbox and sent box of the communication.
eBay basics aren’t that hard lol. If you sell any quantity you can handle a cancel here and there but at Dave’s current rate the dings definitely add up.

You absolutely get dinged as a buyer for canceling, it probably takes a million before they do anything but it does affect your account.
If you're ever in a pinch, the UPS store sells labels. Well, at least in my area... It can't hurt to try.
My Walmart even carries thermal shipping labels now!
