As soon as I tried this on, I knew it was infinitely better than the ZF5. Took it out for a run and LOVED it! Kudos to Nike for finally giving that do it all trainer!
I tried only a few Nike running shoes to date and wasn't really a fan, but I bought the ZF6 and am extremely excited to try them on. The Kipchoge colorway looks fantastic!
Still running in the indestructible ZF3, over 2000 miles over the last 4 years. It is the most durable shoe on the planet. Not a single injury over those 4yrs over 2000 miles of running. Absolutely incredible! I haven't used my second pair of ZF3 I expected to switch to after the first pair were expected to wear out.
@EDDBUD they still feel brand new. The foam hasn't broken down and provide the same support and shock absorption. The upper Vaporweave with the one piece neoprene underneath is still in perfect condition with no wear. The only upper wear I have is one of my shoe laces broke from so many years of use and sweat and I literally just tied the two ends together in a knot no issue. The only outsole wear is the rubber that is smoothed out and a few places worn down to the foam. The carbon plate appears to have cracked on both shoes probably from the last 1000+ miles I have been running only on a 10+ mile trail run on rocks and gravel every weekend the last 2 years.
@@barrybenkendorf672 That's incredible. I went through 3 pairs of ZF3 pretty quickly as I stop using them when the left outer heel starts showing midsole.
So great to hear!!! That is awesome. I’m also still on my first pair. I have two other pairs that I purchased because I was so happy with them but have yet to use them. I call them my SuperMarathons!
I gave my pair their first outing today and I must say I’m impressed. The build quality is fantastic. On foot they felt luxurious. At one point I actually looked down at my feet to make sure I was wearing Nikes. Funny I don’t get along with the Vaporfly 3 but these feel like they were made for me. Maybe it’s the firmer SR02 outsole compound. They make a great training shoe and I feel they are going grind out a ton of miles before they wear out. I even started thinking about buying a second pair before I took them off my feet. The Kipchoge color way is fire. Sometimes you run across a shoe that really works for you.
Great to hear Nike have done well with this release. Musical interlude ... "At Last" by Etta James. It's one I'll be adding to my shoe rotation in the future for sure. It's $260 in Australia which is cheaper than the Sacuony Endorphin Speed 4 by $30, Hoka Mach X2 by $40, Brooks Hyperion Max 2 by $40, New Balance SC Trainer v3 $70!!! The Adidas EVO SL is cheaper at $240. If you prefer ZoomX over Lightstrike Pro it is agruably one of the best value trainers currently available. Great review Edd and good to see Nike are finally back on track.
Finally! I absolutely loved the Flyknit version and bought several pairs of them after trying (and selling) the disappointing v3. Have been eagerly waiting for each release to return to that winning formula and by the sounds of it, Nike have finally done it! I'll be adding them to my Christmas list for sure
Had a quick try today at the shop. Very impressed. Stable enough for a mild over-pronator. Felt nice as I picked up the pace and fine during my warm up. Short run but good lock down and very comfortable- so much better than fly 5.
Picked up the shoe yesterday and did a 10 mile PB, so definitely share your thoughts on it! Training for half marathon and feels a good long distance trainer with some tempo, enjoyed the review!
I picked up the Kipchoge colorway yesterday. I'm about to take on a maiden voyage! If this is truly just the start, as my pair says down the side, Nike is back!
@eddbud I just finished my first run. This shoe is awesome. Crazy versatile. Soft at slow paces and responsive when you pick it up. I hope Nike doesn't mess this up as they are back on track.
Really interesting review, Edd! Thanks for your lovely content 🙏 I’ve been looking forward to this one, because I really miss a more speedy Sunday long-run trainer, for my marathon training, to cut down on the miles in my invincible 3’s. I like the invincibles, but I just still feel like I would like some more speed for some sessions during the long-runs. Something that reminds more of the Alphafly 3 in style and feel than the invincible, but hopefully way more durable. I’ll very likely be picking up a pair of these Zoom Fly 6’s. Can’t wait to try them! 🤓🤙🏁
I thought it was all gimmicks until i put these shoes on and didn't notice a difference and then went back to my invincible 3s and noticed a huge difference in how hard i had to work to move the feet.
You bring up a great point about some shoe manufacturers trying something and then they seem to forget it and move on to something else. Sometimes those things they discarded were really good. One that makes me scratch my head is the angled laces which became popular for a while. Still see them from time to time, and from several manufacturers. But if it is a good idea, and effective, why not use it more often? I mean it does make some sense, as feet aren't straight, so why should the lacing system be straight? Just one example. Keep up the good work sir, and happy, healthy running to you!
Ah man im so tempted! - I've never ran in any of the zoom fly series, but am on the lookout for a trainer to train for half marathons where i'm doing longer endurance/speedwork. Feel like this could be the one?
I concur, 4 miles easy to start, looked at watch after first mile 7:45 easy would normally be 8:45.. followed by a few faster miles….I agree about the parts bin, toe box of a peg trail 4 with wider alpha fly base crossed with an endorphin pro 3 feel. A most enjoyable shoe.

I do dislike the painted midsoles on squashy foams especially. My Invincible 3s looked dreadful after just a few wet runs since rather than just some subtle creasing, there were patchy bare spots where paint had flaked off. I know they’re ultimately for running and cosmetics aren’t that important but it does make them look a lot more worn than they otherwise would.
Great review, pretty amazing score. I would say, the closeups of your black shoe kinda have a sloppy looking build quality, but I guess if that was true you would’ve called it out. Loving the forthcoming white colorway with flames, although my speed would never live up to the appearance😂
Thanks for the timely review Ed! They were just released today in USA, in the white/orange "Eliud Kipchoge" colorway. I'll soon see if they earn my favor compared to my beloved Prime X Strung (v1). Two concerns: I hope they're not just a go-fast shoe and I hope the sole isn't too flexible (longitudinally).

Thanx a lot EddBud! I loved Fly 3 and also Fly 4 is very good and durable (last pair has done over 1100 km already and it still looks like brand new :D). I did not buy Fly 5 because it mainly got quite bad reviews compared to predecessors. And I used more and more Vaporfly 2 and now 3 models last years. But because of your strong recommends I ordered a pair of Fly 6, I am really convinced. I believe that it will be my main trainer in future! Maybe it can be option for races also. VF3 is not the same as VF2 which I think to be the best all the time shoe for me :).

Great review Ed. If I may ask a question, do you think you can use this as a daily trainer and if carbon-plated shoes in general can be used as daily trainers? Hope you can help? Thanks 😁
I do think that these can be a more used rotation shoe. You would not want to perhaps use it daily but it’s great as a faster longer run or speed day option.
