Yes, that little lip on the spoiler is standard on the 850R. The replacement gear(s) for the odo are very cheap. But the job is what I'd say medium difficulty. You don't have the passenger airbag, so it will be a bit easier. But make sure you get all the screws out, and be careful when lifting the entire top part of the dashboard out. Do not flex it too much as it can crack. Just make sure you support it with both your hands well spaced. The side window demist vents can be a bit tricky to get out, do not yank on them. Work them outward, downward and towards you, and they should come out relatively easily. While you have the instrument cluster out, I recommend replacing the bulbs. Get all original OSRAM bulbs, if you don't want to be taking the cluster out in a few years time. That is what is in them from the factory. Also I noticed your gear knob isn't beige like it is supposed to be. The leather dye can wear down, but check if the car wasn't originally automatic.
Lovely car Scott, long may it live. The cruise control is fairly simple, slide the centre switch to on and use the +/- switch to set at the current speed. Increase or decrease the speed with the same switch, and turn it off by sliding the centre switch to off, or by pressing the brake pedal. Holding the centre switch over to resume for a second or so will resume the previously stored speed. The cruise control cannot be set at speeds lower than 35km/h (~22mph). All 850s as standard use a cable throttle (Bowden type cable), so you should feel the pedal move under your foot slighlty as the cruise control pulls the cable, providing the system is operational. Regarding the accelerator pedal feel, the internals of the throttle cable can break down over the years, causing it to snag on the outer sheath and leaving you with a stiff or sticky pedal. OEM RHD throttle cables have been discontinued for at least a decade, so a new one would have to be made by a specialist, or a LHD cable lengthened to fit. Disconnecting the throttle cable from the throttle body, hanging the end up at the top of the bonnet somewhere and then allowing some oil to flow down the cable can help to unstiffen the pedal.
Congratulations on the 850 I have had 3 of them. remember they are getting old and work needs to be done no matter what. Boost leak's and pcv are the most common. Sometimes the turbo crack.
Have fun with her, I have a Green 850R manual estate. I will not part with it also. There are vacuum buttons behind the clutch and brake pedal, sometimes they pop out and prevents the cruise from working. Based in Suffolk
That's nice!! I have heated seats, auto climate control, cruise, a/c, sunroof and spoiler on my purple 850 TDi (saloon). Odometer gears are an easy cheap fix - assuming you do it yourself. Cheap to buy the gears and there's plenty of videos online showing you what to do. There's videos showing you how to read the actual mileage of the car. Top of dash off and then cluster out I believe. The other comment mentions how the cruise control works. Nice car! 👍
@@scottr9785 Usually if it's in the middle (not all the way to the right) you just press set, I don't think it matters if it's the - or + or if it's been on and you want to resume push slidy thing to the left and it resumes. Does the car actually have it or has somebody just added a stalk for it? The gears are such a common issue, I'm thinking about just leaving mine if all this pay per mile nonsense comes in, (there's talk about taking mileage at every MOT) I think this feature might become popular on 850s... ;)
@@SuperFIFTHGEAR I’m fairly sure it does have it fitted as it has the brake position switch for it just below the brake light switch so might have to look into it more 🤔 yeah I can imagine it would be, be interesting to see what comes of all this tax stuff
Probably my 850R review you are talking about. I got a brand new accelerator cable now, but it was specially made and the company wont do them any more.
Hi Scott It's a common misunderstanding that the bumper plastic work is faded black.! It came out of the factory in Grey! If you want factory original, then all the trim should be grey. If not its its your choice. She looks beautiful. 👌 Enjoy.
I also had a heavy accelerator pedal, replaced the cable probably thanks to that same video, but the cable was fine and it was the cruise control actuator that somehow had a lot of resistance.

Interesting will look into them, I’m pretty sure like 90% it’s been a manual all its life but thank you for the insight
there's a really good video on the tube with the title removing the 850 dash
