    Your presentation was perfect! You make everything so easy to understand and I feel like all the information is given to help understand the process. I'm excited about doing more wool projects. I have a kit I purchased over 40 years ago and I'm finally getting it started...the directions were not helpful and watching your videos made it so much easier to understand. It makes me want to purchase all the tools and go crazy, but first I'll finish this project and see how it goes. I feel like this is something that I will love to do. Thank you for doing great videos.

    I prefer having the applique on the left side of my mat because I'm right-handed, it works better for me!! I like the empty part on the right side for my coffee cup or a glass.. I just take the pattern pieces paper and turn it upside down on my light box and trace them..works for me..

    I am pretty new to all this and your videos are very good for a slow learner like me. Thank you! What is the difference between the finished products when using heatnbond light for an applique piece VS the freezer paper turning the edges with starch and then removing the freezer paper? I understand the main process for both. Does the heatnbond leave the finished product less flexible? And after the edges are turned with starch and freezer paper is removed, how do you apply the piece? Basting glue or pins? Love you guys- so much fun!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 года назад

      Thank you for watching! I reviewed the video and the part where Jen and Tammy demonstrate the freezer paper (starts at 11 min) they talk about the reasons they use freezer paper and heat n' bond lite. The freezer paper is used as a template to cut out the ovals. The Heat N Bond Lite is used on the applique pieces. We do not turn the edges on these mug mats. Jen sometimes uses the freezer paper on cotton applique pieces when she has to turn the edges. These mats are so adorable! Happy Sewing! ~Leah

    I love the look of the wool and this design is so cute. I would like to make this one for a baby gift, but is the wool washable? Do you have any suggestions as to how it could be used, perhaps as a picture to hang on the wall, or something that would not be used like the mug mat? Thanks

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 года назад

      Hello Mary! We do not pre-wash our fabrics. We recommend with wool, that if you need to wash it, that you carefully hand wash it then let it air dry. We do use these as a mug mat but if that is not how you would like to use it, some options, in my opinion, could be a wall decoration or a decoration for an entry table! -Leah 🙃

    I love this one. I hope that the kit has enough fabric to not have to fudge to get the pieces to fit the design. Some of them I got last year I had to work pretty hard to get all the pieces to fit on the fabric. Pretty sure this is going to go on a plane with me when I am traveling in a few months. :-D

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  5 лет назад

      It sounds like a great plan to take this with you traveling!! :) Yes, each kit should have pieces that are big enough to get your shape without having to do too much maneuvering. We don't include too much extra wool (to help keep the cost of kits down) but we like to make sure you have enough! :) Thank you for watching! - Morgan

    So I'm not sure if I missed something but why doesn't the Heat N Bond stick to the applique paper? Do you peel the backing off of the Heat N Bond before you iron it to the applique paper or after? I apologize if these were addressed in the video?

    • @missybailey7364
      @missybailey7364 5 лет назад +3

      Kathy Schwable I’m not sure if I can help, but the heat n bond is double sided. Trace the applique shape on the paper side. The shiny glue is on the opposite side. Iron the shiny side to the wool. Once cooled, cut the shape out along your traced lines and peel the paper backing off. Now you can fuse the piece to the background. Sorry if I have made this more confusing! Hopefully it helps.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  5 лет назад

      Great questions Kathy! The Heat N Bond does stick to the appliqué pressing sheet, but after you allow the pieces to cool, you can peel them off from the appliqué pressing sheet. The sheet has a sort of film that helps separate the pieces.
      Now you can take your fused unit and apply it to your background.
      Does that help clarify? - Morgan

  • @claudettemonty4077
    @claudettemonty4077 3 года назад

    The thread you use for the duck manually is it the same size of thread that you used on the little house with the blanquette stitches with the sewing machine??? The thread that you used to stitches the water, do you have other colour than that 4 one. I would like to do all the embroidery with a big thread like that one. Thanks.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  3 года назад

      The applique thread set we sold with it is to machine or hand stitch around the edges with a blanket stitch - 12 wt thread. The embellishing thread set is different and it used for the hand stitching and is a different type of thread. You can use any thread you'd like, even embroidery floss! - Yajaira

    Can you use the machine to do the stitching on that mug rug? Thank you very much for sharing. I was curious if the light boxes were led lights? How long do they last? I could not find the price for the kits?

      Hi Donna! Yes, you can use the machine to do the appliqué on these mug mats! The Wafer Lightboxes use dimmable LED lights. We've been using ours daily for a year and haven't had an issue with the lights. The kit pricing and info is listed here on the website: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Wooly-Mug-Mat-Series-March-Kit--P71601.aspx

      Hi Pat. It could be a setting on your printer that's doing that. I tried it at home and it worked properly for me. Make sure it's set to 100% and isn't on a landscape setting. Then it should work. Let me know if you have any other problems with it. - Morgan
