I made quite a few of these, they are great. I had some extra, so I folded the narrow end about half way up. I stitched close to the folded edges, added a cam snap to the flap and made adorable giftcard holders. Thank you!
I especially love the idea of putting two themes on one mug rug! I’ll be doing one side Christmas fabric and the other Halloween. Can’t wait to give them out as gifts!
I just made some of these and they turned out great! They are very easy and quick to sew together. I am an "intermediate beginner" and I made these from start to finish within an hour an a half! I'm planning on making several sets to have on hand as gifts. Thank you for sharing this! Your video was easy to understand.
So glad to have gotten to see the video. It's been a while since I have done anything with quilting, and this would be perfect to get back into quilting and to use up a ton of materials I have, smaller size pieces that I have leftover. Thanks for the showing me just how easy, fun, doing this would be. I think too going to one of the thrift stores and buying some nice mugs, get some clear wrap paper and a twine ribbon w/ a handmade card would look nice, not tacky to give to someone or to sell at consignment shops here in my town would be nice.
So cute and easy for a beginner with zero confidence! I do have charm squares that I purchased for some reason last year - now i can use them. Thank you!
I made several site of 4 for my daughter coworkers, and they all loved them... Thanks, I will enjoy doing this in the future, not just in Christmas material
I LOVE IT! using scraps is something I look out for, I'm going to start cutting charm squares! your technique is so easy to follow and I love the idea of making them reversible for holidays! thank you so much!
love this..seeing as all my volunteering and such has been shut down due to coronavirus..i have material which I can do these with...but I love tea so I will do tea rugs...
You have inspired me to make several sets of these mug rugs for friends--great thing to do on a cold winter day! I made my first 2 right along with your video--easy peasy!! Thank you!!!
This is so funny cuz i did this all cuz i was testing some decorative stitches out, so i did it on a sample/swatch of fabric and batting then when i was doing the binding by machine i put it on the sample to test stitches so i have and it was just laying there by my machine and i came in one day with a cup of coffee and put it on it and now its a part of my sewing area, only 2 sides are bound but it serves the purpose and realizing it been there for 2 yrs.. guess i better start watching what im doing cuz it could be trend setting.. lol
I made these and everyone loves them. I keep them on my nightstand with my water and pills on the edge in case I need them at night without shaking the pill bottle and waking up my husband.

I am confused by the last steps. From the point at which you say to match up the seams, is the next step to pin the top and bottom together with the batting on top? That is what it appears to be. I should be able to visualize how it will look once turned but my brain just won't go there. I guess I will baste the pieces together until I get it right.
+Susan Williams you're right. the batting is in place when pinning at the opening points before stitching. basically, you stitch all three layers. the two fabric sides are right sides together and the batting is on top of one of the wrong sides. when you turn it right side out after stitching around, you go between the two fabric layers and it will catch the batting putting it in the inside.
Do you have the directions written down that I could get? I would like to make these but need more instructions. like what size batting, what seam allowance did you use, etc.
This would be a good video if it wasn't peppered full of verbal-bad-habits. Difficult to listen to people try to explain anything when you have to constantly filter out the verbal-rubbish. For example, one horrible habit that she uses repeatedly is to start a sentence, then switch her train of thought and begin another new sentence, without ever completing the first thought. Horrible!
When people make such "Horrible!" comments, I sometimes check their channel to see how much better they are than the one they are criticizing. My, my, not a single video on your channel, Cheryl. I can say that you do make a great sidewalk superintendent. You've presented no evidence that you can do a better job than trying to supervise from the sidelines. Think about it...............................
I have only recently wandered into the quilting corner of RUclips and I have to say I am absolutely flabbergasted at the quantity of critical and borderline mean comments. Every time I see one of these, I make sure to leave a thank you to content creator.
Thank-you for this demonstration. I totally will make these. I will make mine a little bigger, but I learned how to put this together from your video! And I also get how to create a pattern and just go for it! Thanks for showing the basics here to get started!!!❤️
Enjoyed your very nice dialogue and demonstration. Warm, meaningful, helpful. Thank you.

These are adorable little gifts. Thank you for sharing your talent with the public.
I made 50 of these for an open house event. Everyone loved them. A great way to use your scrap charm squares and batting.

Can you use felt for the middle
Hello Teresa,
Yes, you can but using different fabrics may make it uneven surface.
I made these and everyone loves them. I keep them on my nightstand with my water and pills on the edge in case I need them at night without shaking the pill bottle and waking up my husband.
i will very good thank you
Love the idea but they are not laying flat. What would you do to prevent that
Thanks alot dear I like your way of explaining but can we do quilt out of these square?
Can u make the bag to go with it?

I would call that a coaster as mugrugs are usually larger,
Good comment. Thank you!
In what order do you lay all 3 pieces??
what is the size of charm squares?

what size did those end up?
+Melatina77 Hi. These come out to be around 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".Hope this helps!
National Quilters Circle Thank you.
what kind of padding you used in this??
You can use cotton quilt batting or pellon fleece.
Why show us one mug rug at the beginning and then make another type? I don't understand. I wanted to make the first one that you showed
That is a very good idea but those are a bit small for a mug rug.

very cute idea... and stash buster... not just for Christmas.... but look at the camera a little more so we can see your beautiful face

Nice info but I'm more of a 'get to the chase' kind of person so the long lead in made me wander away for awhile. Too much commentary.
Just fast forward it.
Too small for mug rugs
Great for coasters tho

I'm interested in the instructions.... Not the replies.
Too small 😣...
So tiny
This has nothing to do with making a mug rug. It's just blather.
