5:29 Will never get tired of Sir Alec Guinness's performance. His face says it all; the sorrow, the pain, the regret. That subtle glance to the side as if he had just come back from reliving a nightmare. What an actor. Edit: Yes, I'm aware that the whole clone wars and prequel thing didn't even exist or have the necessary context to at the time; it's probably why I wrote this admiration for Sir Alec Guinness in the first place.
And all of it, without actually knowing anything. It's only thanks to him, if 40 years later we can link his scene so well to everything that has been added later
And he didn't see or know a thing, there was no graphic material of what Obi-Wan went through. George Lucas probably told him something like, "Act as if you lost your best friend in a tragic way." There's a video called "Obi-Wan has PTSD" that reflects all of this much better, it's just incredible, it seems like Alec Guinness knew the whole plot from the beginning.
It's even better knowing that Alec Guinness had so many great suggestions to the script that George Lucas called him after the first showing for critics and offered him another point on the movie because all of his suggestions ended up being what the critics liked.
Kenobi lost everything. His master, his love, his order, his brother, even his own name. But no matter what, he pushed on throughout his series and was finally able to see things clearly. While Anakin is gone, his kindness and generosity was passed down in the form of his kids

@@BenAri18 There is more to it than that. His hunger for victory was always a problem, but against a defensive master like Obi-Wan, he would always have great difficulty. Obi-Wan's connection to the force was not as strong as Anakin's, but he was so disciplined in his defensive abilities that Anakin always had problems achieving victory against him. This led Anakin to make mistakes out of frustration, and left him defenseless against an opponent who fought with cold precision. Obi-Wan embodied what it meant to be a Jedi. It wasn't only about mastery of the force. It was about mastery of the self. In the latter category, Anakin was a very poor Jedi. As a Sith, Vader's lack of self control was encouraged. It meant that his final fight against his son would be very dangerous for him. At no time in the ROTJ fight, is Luke not controlling the combat. For Luke, it was his final trial, not to defeat Vader, but to claim true self control. Confronting Vader was about self control. Luke lost it, but regained it, and was willing to die if that was required. In a way, I'm happy that they have not had Luke and Anakin have any scenes post ROTJ. Wow, well-done. The way you paralleled the clips had a way of connecting Anakin with Vader. It draws out the tensions and motifs from multiple movies. It takes the new fight scene to another emotional level.
when Obi said - then my friend is truly dead - that was the first time ever that I really realised that wasn’t Anakin underneath the mask - and I always wanted for that to be Anakin, not Vader. I truly felt that. Hayden did a strong punchline with just two sentences.
Something must be said about Obi-Wan's emotional strength. I can't even imagine the anguish he must be suffering having to see his best friend just fall deeper and deeper into the very thing they once fought against together. The emotional toll they both carry toward one another runs so deep that every time they see each other, this pain inevitably climaxes into a tumultuous fight. But most impressive of all is how long he has to cope with this severe burden. Darth Vader lives a long life, and does countless horrific things over the years. With constant reminders of this nightmare, it is no wonder Obi-Wan secluded himself for so many years. In my opinion, it was just as much essential to his survival from a physical standpoint as it was from an emotional one. He surely needed that seperation from this never-ending horror to find some measure of peace again.
This is so impressive. The way you have cut each lightsaber swing to then connect with a completely different scene is absolutely masterful. It flows so naturally and seamlessly. 👏

I knew that they had to meet more than once in fact this fight scene explains why obi-wan said what he said in star wars..."He's more machine than man twisted and evil"....this scene explains that because we see that obi-wan gave up believing in his old apprentice and friend.
Everyone takes Anakin’s/Vaders words so literal. But to be honest Vader saying “Obi Wan I am not your failure.” And “You didn’t kill Anakin, I did.” And he delivers it with a smirk… That’s the most Anakin like response. For all of his positives, one of Anakin’s biggest flaws was his pride. Anakin couldn’t live with knowing he failed saving Padme-and even more so, that he got played like a fool and fell for a lie. He’s trapped inside a hot metal suit with no legs, or arms…the only woman he’s ever loved is dead. He doesn’t know his kids are even alive, and he’s not nearly as powerful as he could have been if he never became so handicap. He can’t live with that reality though, so he projects by saying it was “ALL A CHOICE,” his choice-he as Vader chose the dark side and because of it he’s all powerful! He’s the leader of the empire yada yada. He’s gotta spin it because the Anakin in him can’t face his pride and accept he’s the reason for all he’s lost. He cant accept failure as a natural experience. For him it’s only winning.
“You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did” - Darth Vader "A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil. Helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
I love how clearly anakin and darth vader are 2 separate characters but what I find beautiful about the scene with his mask cracked is he's wrong anakin isn't gone he's in there and they both spoke here there was genuine pain behind "im not your failure" but as he continues his voice switches inbetween then you get "you didn't kill anakin" then vader spoke with pride "I did" to me that was anakins last ditch effort to let obi wan know that he (anakin) doesn't blame obi wan even he (vader) does, anakin was the chosen one in the end he ultimately fulfilled the prophecy so indirectly that its genius
This split persona is just a way for Anakin to don't blame himself for all his wrongs he did. Anakin lost anything he loved. His wife and child, the order that trained him, his titel was hero of the republic his mother. Obiwan is one of the last things from his past and he want him dead for this very reason.
I agree. Those words were both the nicest, and most heart breaking thing he could have said. I want to watch it a million times, while also never wanting to see it again.
Neither of them have ever been able to deliver a fatal blow with a lightsaber, to one another. They loved each other like brothers, that love is still there. I even think Obi Wan acknowledges that he will never have the capacity to defeat Vadar when he uses himself to inspire Luke to become a Jedi with his "death"
The fan stuff is always so good. It blows me away that we don't get this level of passion out of the people getting paid to write, shoot and edit Star Wars.
Best edit I’ve seen in a long time. Honestly, this simple five minute video was better than the whole of the kenobi series. For a Star Wars fan anyway.
OMG I really need to leave a comment. I found this video just recently and I need to say I LOVE how you edit the video flawlessly, and put the parallel scenes together. Their story is so tragic, and Ewan and Hayden are perfect as Obi wan and Anakin. I hope that you will keep making high quality Star Wars video edits
THIS is how it should look in the show. Great job! Pure masterpiece, really. Sometimes fan artworks are doing its job way better than, well, official stuff.
This video made me realize some of the issues I have with movies these days (being in my late 30’s). I expect stories to play out like epic classical scores, and that style is becoming less common. ..and all the ways in which. If that makes sense.
LOVED your flashback edit as Kenobi breaks free of the rock pile. Seeing the additional footage of him with Qui-Gon and preparing to jump up to Maul in TPM combined with the reminders of Luke and Leia added an extra significance and emotional weight that I personally like better than the original scene. Really enjoyed your edit, although if I may offer one small suggestion: as much as I loved the additional cuts and flashbacks, at times they were so frequent, they were almost distracting. Still, I really enjoyed it and look forward to your next project.
I don’t think the concept of Vader telling Obi Wan he isn’t the one who killed Anakin, but Anakin himself instead, gets enough attention. It changes the whole perspective of guilt Obi Wan is characterized as feeling post prequel era. It perfectly sets up how Obi Wan acts in the original trilogy when talking and dealing with Vader. Perfect retcon writing that is extremely hard to pull off faithfully, but they did it here.
why is this edit better than the final itself? I think I'm gonna have a chat with Disney on this one on how 1 man or a crew of men could make this fight better than a multi-billion dollar corporation could.
Excellent video and editing. It was absolutely incredible and brilliant. Thank you, got to admit, I got a little emotional. But then again, this story is gut wrenching.
AD edits never dissapoints. I was watching this and saw all the call backs to the Anakin and Obi-wan fights, and though AD is gonna kill it with another one. Keep it up!
They should have used a mashup more like this even throughout the show, the incorporation of more flashbacks from the prequels would have been so much more emotional and thematic!
This is the best star wars edit ive ever seen captures emotions from both sides on point refers to all the past leading to the present and translating the similarities its so amazing
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Brother, this is OUTSTANDING work on the action and music. I knew I just had to wait a few and you would have a video for us. Thank you for sharing with us fans. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I don’t usually comment on videos but I just wanna say your work is insane. I’m a big prequels fan and I had a few visions/ideas on what I wanted to see from the kenobi show that you executed perfectly, and better. I wish there were people like you producing Star Wars who actually care and know the material rather than the woke Disney writers and directors.
Honestly, I think this show is criminally underrated. Sure, some of the fights are clunky and there are patches of weak dialogue, but I don’t think a lot of people truly understand the deeper meaning of this series. At the heart, it’s a survivor story. Obi-Wan recovering from Order 66, and Anakin’s demons through his true transformation into Vader after the battle of the heroes on Mustafar. We get a better idea of the Empire’s brutality and the process in which Obi-Wan confronts his past, present, and future. The Inquisitors are a build-up and something to drive Obi-Wan. And Reva’s story gives us more information about Order 66 and her motivations to eventually fight against the Empire. Hope my points here make people really think about this series. By the way, great edit.

I did” - Darth Vader
"A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil. Helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
However....Anakin came back and killed vader.
It's heartbreaking when even tho it's darth vader its still anakin inside a suit suffering.
Your comment is also genious
This split persona is just a way for Anakin to don't blame himself for all his wrongs he did.
Anakin lost anything he loved. His wife and child, the order that trained him, his titel was hero of the republic his mother.
Obiwan is one of the last things from his past and he want him dead for this very reason.
I agree. Those words were both the nicest, and most heart breaking thing he could have said. I want to watch it a million times, while also never wanting to see it again.
@@Zozo806 yeah, he wants to destroy the brother, Obi-Wan, who had failed and left him.
This is the best edit I've seen on RUclips enough to make a grown man cry
Will never stop
this is literally the best edit i’ve ever seen thank you
The most important thing is Obi-Wan still had the High Ground.
Then he took the high ground and shoot on Vader's face 😂
Easily one of the coolest videos I've ever watched in my life!!! Absolutely epic
this was clearly the best Kenobi edit ive watched!! I loved it! keep it up!
Amazing! They hit hard separately but together like this is another level!
Wow. I feel like I just went on a roller coaster! Excellent. Thank you 😎
This is not only one of the most beautiful edits I have ever seen, but also fits perfectly with Ahsoka’s relationship as well.
True!
The few seconds of Alec Guiness add so much power to that specific scene of Obi Wan letting Anakin go.
"He betrayed and murdered your father"
It really points out how obi wan embodies hope when there is none
that was a enjoyable watch. the blend of the music, current and past scenes.
Why weren’t you hired for this part. That was absolutely touching and perfect.
Oh my God, I love whoever made this video. Thank you! 😊
Haha thanks so much! Be sure to sub :)
Amazing job on the transitions from using the older fight clips!
True legends are still waiting for this project to be released
This was very well done! So much emotion in 6 minutes
I do not have the words to explain how great this is. Good job! Phenomenal edit :)
why is this edit better than the final itself? I think I'm gonna have a chat with Disney on this one on how 1 man or a crew of men could make this fight better than a multi-billion dollar corporation could.
Fantastic video edit!!! Now the retconning is complete when Obi-Wan tells Luke that Darth Vader betrayed and murdered his father.
They really should have used one of John Williams’ themes in Obi-Wan’s final duel with Vader.
There is always an amazing person on this planet to make beautiful videos like this. Nice edit bro cheers.
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent video and editing. It was absolutely incredible and brilliant. Thank you, got to admit, I got a little emotional. But then again, this story is gut wrenching.
Thanks :) big tribute coming soon
AD edits never dissapoints. I was watching this and saw all the call backs to the Anakin and Obi-wan fights, and though AD is gonna kill it with another one. Keep it up!
🥰
This is gonna be TIMELESS, first screen interaction between these two.. and Darth speaking with his face showing? Can't get better than this :)
Amazing job on this one buddy!!
They should have used a mashup more like this even throughout the show, the incorporation of more flashbacks from the prequels would have been so much more emotional and thematic!
This is amazing. Bravo! I had chills and tears in my eyes. Incredible work!
*"I've been looking forward to this."* - Count Dooku
Tetsuo vs Kaneda vibes! Chills! So well done!
Man! Thanks for time and editing! Made macho tears to come. 💪🏽👍🏽
Wow, you are truly talented!! Amazing video!
MASTER PIECE, thanks for sharing mate!
The chills. Great video man.
This is the best star wars edit ive ever seen captures emotions from both sides on point refers to all the past leading to the present and translating the similarities its so amazing
Kenobi show might not be perfect but it brought some of the greatest Star Wars moments ever to live action. Much appreciated
This is brilliantly well made and perfectly timed with the song.
A surprise to be sure but a pleasingly-well made one.

Brother, this is OUTSTANDING work on the action and music. I knew I just had to wait a few and you would have a video for us. Thank you for sharing with us fans.

"Have you come to destroy me, Obi Wan?
Are you ready?"
Gold.
Gotta say..this is better than the actual show!
Very good work! I love this. This is the best so far.
The best one yet!! Literally was looking for someone to make vid like this with all the flashback scenes 🔥
Despite Obiwan’s mad PTSD he abided by the code and did not put Anakin down (again).
Wow, thank you!
The brutality of this one man. Cuts deeper than vaders mask
Amazing. Great choices of editing!
Another piece of art from this channel Ad_edits you rule
Much love 🥰
So crazy to be seeing and edit of this quality right now. Great time to be a fan
FINALLY!!! They actually use a lot of force skills! Instead of only fighting with the swords like in previous movies.
I have absolutely no words. THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING
Great edit my friend. You did pretty good job right here.
Just a really great job, fantastic, well done!
