I went to school and played on the soccer team with Lenny, the son almost 50 years ago, as kids, you could buy a large cheese pizza for $2.50 . As kids in the neighborhood, we use to go here every Saturday and Sunday, after playing street hockey in the nearby school yard all day against other streets in the area. The best!!!!
I lived near Bitondo's for years and ate their pizza weekly. They are way more known for the panzos (calzones) than the pizza. I've been eating there for 20 years. The pizzas are either amazing or meh. Either way it's a lovely old school place that literally hasn't changed one bit in decades.
I love this guy Because of him I drove from Hamilton to have some North of Brooklyn pizza but we have a place in Hamilton called Shorty's Pizza which is just as good. Bitondos is in an old Italian neighbourhood which is basically a Poruguese neighborhood now

I've been to Bitondos and did not like the pizza. I do remember it being dry. They are more famous for their panzo's actually. BTW, the reason the pizza is so 'tight' is because of the lack of sauce. It is over-rated in my books.

That's a solid score. Last time I had it I thought that there wasn't enough sauce either. If this was 20 years ago this pizza would be like a 9, as the pizza game in Toronto was very weak. But there definitely isn't enough sauce and there's also a weird taste in the pizza as well when I had it. 7.5 was pretty generous, thought he would've given like a 7.1 or 7.2. Still waiting for Conzo's review!!!!!!
I gotta chime in: 20 years one way or the other doesn't turn a 7.5 into a 9, or a 9 into a 7.5. Maybe 7 & 8-level pie is more accessible up there nowadays, which is cool, but a 7.5 is a 7.5 in Dave's world. 9's are reserved for "people should drive 3 hours to experience this" pizza, not "this is definitely where to eat if you live here" mid-seven pizza. Just my opinion, but I think the scale is the scale.

In some episodes he gives it to pedestrians and staff, in a few episodes he's given the rest of pizza to places like an auto repair shop. He said in one review a few years back that he gives the pizza away. I believe he's only thrown out a few really awful pizzas (on camera).

I went there yesterday. Unfortunately, they had a small fire (old electrical issues) but they hope to be opened back up before the end of April. I looked in and didn't see much damage so hopefully they'll be open soon.

I'm not sure if you're flying or driving. But if you're driving back to the States, make an excursion to Sebastian's Pizza in Woodstock Ontario. It's a different style pizza than you're used to. It's a thin crust. The dough is almost like a pastry dough, and the cheese is super bitey. That might have to do with the dariy industry in that area. I don't know how they do it, but they make an amazing pie. Edit: I forgot one more thing, they've been there for like 40 years.

@@aalves9453 It's a very legit question. A lot of places can't be bothered to try to figure out the exchange rate for you or deal with exchanging the money. Obviously if you're going to pay 1:1 then they'll take it, if you're dumb enough to pay par.

Went there once before an indie music show across the street at Monarch Tavern, their slices are disgustingly good! Not quite the best in Toronto, but for what it is its perfect for soaking up a tall boy!

Bitondo for me is very football style pizza and up Dave's alley. Solid pie, but can be quite dough-y. FMIF and Badiali are more new school NY style similar to Best Pizza or L'Industrie, very solid. NOB is amazing and would be right at home in NYC tbh.
If you like Toronto for its resemblance of Boston, you should check out its sister city. Halifax Nova Scotia isn't a big player in the big city scene, but it was one of the first in Canada.

If you're gonna keep doin Toronto, you should hit up some Toronto style pizza places. Toronto style pizza= Vietnamese pizza places that brush the pizza with garlic. Invented at Fresca Pizza and Pasta, but found around town.
Cash only is frustrating. In the Toronto area many places do cash only: barber shops, pizza and sub shops, Asian restaurants, and variety stores. So bring lots of Canadian currency.
