All well said. The 3-way color balance tool is also useful for adding back subtle amounts of color to images you've converted to b&w (via Capture One's 'native' b&w conversion-not by simply desaturating the image). This is far more 'granular' than using the simple split-toning sliders. I would love to see them add a way of picking a specific hue from a 'color mixing' panel - that would make b&w split-toning even more precise.
@@ScottWilliamsPhotography I've hoped someone more adept than I am might create b&w split-toning presets using the tool. So far I haven't been competent enough to make-naming only one-a combination of shadow, midtone, and highlight adjustments that produce tonality similar to what I used to do in the darkroom, namely use selenium toner on Agfa's warm-toned Portriga-Rapid paper. I wouldn't mind paying for a well-made set of presets that use the advanced color balance tool for b&w split toning. As good as Capture One is, other raw converters' split-toning features are much better designed (Exposure X5, for example). Maybe some day Capture One's API will be improved to the point that someone can make a full-blown split-toning "plugin" for the program with a good user interface. Then again I might have better results by doing the split toning in a different program entirely-like Affinity Photo. But alas I don't know how to use it yet. :-)
Nice video Scott. I have only played around with the previous version of C1, but still find Lightroom V6 quicker in editing a large number of pictures. The function I use most is synchronize, and with LR I can apply this to a dozen or so pictures in a couple of clicks, which really speeds things up. Does this version of C1 allow you to do that ?, as in the previous version it was a bit clunky.
High dynamic range adds a highlight/shadow curve to your image and then uses some type of unsharp mask filter to increase definition. It also looks like they add a little saturation. The levels tool re-scales the inputs or outputs. It brings the white/black points up or down.
Also the levels tool is equivalent to setting the black and white points with Black and White sliders in some other software. The Black and White sliders in the Capture One HDR tool are not the same as that. They are more like the highlights and shadows sliders, but restricted to a narrower range of tones - just the very darkest and very brightest.

Cheers Mike. That is a very good tip.

Thank you for this walk through some of the main and excellent features of Capture One. It´s my one and only RAW-Editor.

Hi Robert. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thanks Scott, nice video
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much Scott. Can Capture One do the BLENDING of photos stacking? If so, can you do the video on this, please.
You are welcome Paul. Capture One does not do stacking. I use Affinity Photo for that type of thing.

I believe you can just Copy/Apply adjustments?
I batch hundreds of images with that.
It really is quick and easy with Capture One. Select you images. Click the copy adjustments icon and then the apply adjustments icon.
Me too 👍
@@ScottWilliamsPhotography Thanks Scott.
Thank you Scott!
You are very welcome Meyou 😃
O man
How can I tell u thanks 😘😘😘❤️😁
Most welcome 😊
What's the difference between using the levels vs the black, white, shadows and highlights (High Dynamic Range) sliders.

Excellent video as always! As a Sony user I was wondering till what date is that coupon valid? I am planning to buy C1. Thanks!
Thanks Saurabh. The code is supposed valid until the end of march.

Hi Scott, I was really interested in Capture One's customisation and was wondering if the browser can moved to a second monitor.
I know on windows you can put the viewer on a second monitor so you have more room for the controls and browser.
How much is the capture one pro app & where do I get the discount? I downloaded the capture one express for Fuji & like the program.
Check the links in the video description.
