Improve my writing this year • Write a book before June. Does not have to be published (Can be a self-help or fiction.) • Write at least one short story per month. • Brainstorm for at least 10 ideas weekly. • Get an article published each quarter. Go on websites and see what is available at different sites. • Write better journal entries. Pay attention to the words and punctuation.
I love the emphasis on not judging what you write down for the goal brainstorm start. Two of my goals for 2020 was to learn calligraphy and learn how to make homemade Mac and cheese. Like sometimes it’s simple goals that can be knocked out fairly quickly that brings you the most joy.
Such a helpful video, Matt - thanks! After going through all of my ambitions for the year and breaking them down, I realized that there is just one thing I want to nail this year - the pivot! I had great plans last year and the constantly switching schedule and stressors of managing online school left me floundering. Being more skilled at pivot and change would have helped make the year a success despite the chaos. Thanks for inspiring the awakening!
Loved this - straightforward with no bells nor whistles! I found some of my "system" goals were getting too overwhelming re the time, so your timely comment was a great reminder to go back and start with a couple of new ones and build up over time! Thank you.
Matt I’m passionate about achieving my goals this year and about Bullet Journaling so I’m following you closely. I can’t wait to start checking off boxes along with all the people from this community! Thank you so much for guiding us there! I’m heading straight to your podcast (Great stuff to listen to while driving my toddler to school). Cheers for an amazing 2021!
Thank you so much for sharing your bullet journal advice! I am getting ready to start my first bullet journal and was getting completely overwhelmed by watching all these beautiful spreads that look amazing, but also way too time consuming and not always that practical.
For years it has all been static on goals (just struggling to get through) but this year I have forward momentum so great to g9 through the exercise - thanks
This comes at a great time. I am setting up my 2021 planner today. And I want to do a goals page. And I have vague goals in mind I just don't know how I wanted to break them down so this will help me set them up more SMART goal like.
Ahhhh thanks for the exciting example of your idea about your journal and moving into it becoming a Kickstarter 🤞! That helped to really put things into perspective. I see what you said about only planning out a quarter max in advance. It overwhelmed me to even think about any further than a month. Now I see how it's done and it makes so much more sense and is far less overwhelming. Thanks Matt!
2020 has been a shitty year for like many others. I want to make 2021 count and have a new planner ready to go. I was also looking for some direction so watching YT videos since two days. Yours my friend is the best, no-nonsense and practical. Thank you. I will be re-watching it again to do my own goal planning excercise for 2021.
My main goal this year : i'm beginning to work as psychologist. Thanks for your videos. I think psychological questions are important too when u set new goals : why haven't i done it before ? what are the reasons to set that goal ? what are the fear i have about it ? how will it change my life ? do i focus on this goal for me or for the others ? how will i feel if i achieve it ? and if i don't ?...
A couple of days late due to other commitments but now i'm planning and setting my goals along to this video. Have a good year ahead Matt & random internet strangers browsing through the comments! 🍻
I'm really interested in this new and exciting topic that I just discover, thank you so much for uploading and sharing this videos, I'm hoping to get started very soon on my own bullet journal, I'll be tunned for upcoming videos!
Almost all my goals are system goals. I'm coming to realize that this is why I feel like I don't have any time to get things done. So much of it is continuous. (self-care & exercise, music, religious leadership.)
Really appreciate your videos they have helped me tremendously. I do suggest that you give a few more seconds of screen time viewing the pages of the BuJo Thanks GG
Thank you SO much for breaking down goals and helping me understand them really well! Would you do a separate list for personal goals, or integrate everything into one master list? Thanks again!
love this! too many art goal lists and not enough actual plan content out there. How would you recommend keeping an eye on bigger (3/5/10 year) goals? Just break them into multiple QMWDs?
Thanks, Matt. Useful into. You kind of rushed through the Quarterly/monthly/weekly process. I’m guessing that’s detailed in another video? One goal I have for 2021 is growing my RUclips channel to at least 1,000 subscribers, currently only 149. Do you have a favorite course for that? thanks for all you do!!
My goal is to stick to one system and keep using it. I see a BJ video and then use my BJ for 1 week, then I Think „oh if I used Notion I’d be 200% more productive“ and back and forth
Hi Matt. Tanks very much for what your doing! Keep it up! I'd like to ask you how would you go about a log term goal say 7 years? Would you break it down in 7, and then further break down the first year and the months, weeks, days, or you would have mile stones for each year? And secondly, in that goal I'd have more than one category, ex: business, investing, productivity, how do you organise everything so it makes sense and you can create a decent workflow? Much appreciated
Hi Matt! Thank you so much for your clear and simple videos and recommendations. One thing I am not clear about however, is regarding the estimated timeframe for goals which in my case are mainly system based goals. Could you please elaborate and clarify?
Matt, do you set up goals for your personal life along with your professional life (e.g. fitness or savings)? If so, do you approach them in the same way? Or is this something you would place under a “habit”?
Quick tip when. Editing keep an eye on the audio and make sure it barely goes into yellow if it does lower the volume a little bit. Over all good job tho

Hi Matt, do you make a list of the monthly and weekly sub-goals before going into the respective month or week and writing down the sub-goals that you want to hit? If not: How do you make sure that your sub-goals do actually add up to the monthly milestone / quarterly goal? Thanks so much!
Excuse me. Pause? I need a weekend, a holiday, a springbreak, an endless summer, a hibernation lockdown until.. to find those expressible goals of mine. Make that goal finding process a video: "The goal of finding goals"
Do you use a single journal for work and personal, or do you use multiple journals? Having a hard time figuring out how to integrate business and personal in one.. but even more trouble running separate journals..
Share one goal you have for 2021!
Be more efficient managing my finances
Apply the 12 week year to my plans
Convince as many as possible to get the COVID vaccine. This is not a joke.
developing a weekly writing habit for the books I want to write

This is the real bullet journal... what I ever wanted to watch...
I love how detailed this video is! Great explanation of each step without the bs and fluff :)

I've often wondered how Matt sorts his book shelf and I'm completely convinced it's by COLOR and not topic or author.
I agree, that was my first thought the first time I watched one of his videos
I noticed that, too!
He now has a video about his bookshelf and why he sorts by COLOUR!
Watch the video he made on your topic.

Love your stuff, Matt.
I’ll totally buy your journal when it’s launched.
Happy New Year!
I’m so looking forward to the the journal , it Moved me to decide to subscribe to your channel !
Hi Matt. Thank you for the great video. Perfect timing on the goal setting. It works in well with the vlog on the other channel. ❤️
A lot of good goal planning info in a short video. Will need to refer back to this one. Also, started listening to the podcast. Happy New Year
Great video as always! Very helpful for setting up for 2021
Thank you SO much for breaking down goals and helping me understand them really well! Would you do a separate list for personal goals, or integrate everything into one master list? Thanks again!
Nice video, perfectly timed Matt. Happy 2021 to you too!

I have to pause the video for the outlined format of goal setting. Excited to do this in my BuJo.
Show it to us when you are done. 😉
Very informative vid! One small request, can you make your podcast available on Google Podcast?
It should be live now!

Thanks Jon! I went through it a bit more last year too, starting here - ruclips.net/video/9-To1zxNt5k/видео.html
This is super cool I’m gonna do this
Excellent video
Hi Matt, do you do something with the roles in your life, and take goals or habits from those?
My goal is to stick to one system and keep using it. I see a BJ video and then use my BJ for 1 week, then I Think „oh if I used Notion I’d be 200% more productive“ and back and forth

One goal is to fully fund my emergency fund!

For the system goals: do you set them up quarterly, monthly and weekly like the outcome goal?
*ANYONE READING THIS - YOU CAN ONLY ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!*
i watch soo many video about goals setting and try to write it but I still feel lost I don't know how can I do
is a weekly milestone a good thing to have
I'd like a pocket journal. The regular size doesn't fit in my purse.
Nice video
First we needa know how you draw so good 😂😂
I'm back matt
Suggestion: Buy a new microphone to raise the bar of the videos
It'd be fine, just needs to set the gain levels a bit lower, and maybe compress a bit in post.
