    It took me about 4 years before i became "good" at goal setting .I think that is another information missing in most goal setting teachings.The truth that just like any other skill, it will take a few years before a person masters the art of goal setting.So stop feeling overwhelmed if you are just starting to practice goal setting, just like any art , it will take time to master.

      Discipline and will power are limited. They will run out. You need to tap into what's really driving your decisions, your values. When you do that, you won't need self-discipline and will power to achieve what you want. You'll also enjoy the process of your achievements rather than trying to will yourself to the finish line. Would you rather push through resistance and withhold gratification from yourself just to feel the temporary and fleeting pride of accomplishing a goal or would you rather tap into your natural motivation and enjoy the process of achieving goals so much so that the actual achievement is just as important and joyful as the process? Consider an entire life lived by each of these choices. Which one would you choose?

      @@jaquanallen4119 that requires connecting with a greater desire and a greater vision of what you want. When you do that, the necessary things you must do to get what you want that you don't like to do isn't a problem anymore. You want to do them because you can see beyond them. However, if you're greater desire or vision is based on status, pride, or impressing people you may will or discipline yourself to do things you don't want to do but the payoff in the end will be empty. Will power and discipline or a crutch. Connect with your true values and you won't need that crutch anymore. Leaning on will power and discipline will limit you and take you away from your true path.

    Goals are meant to be forgotten. I'm not saying that you shouldn't set goals. But you have to keep in mind that goals are only there to give you guidance. You use goals to create your own system of actionable things to do (progress) and forget about the goals. This will help turn you from being goal-orientated to process-orientated.

    You have to set the correct goals first, you can be very productive but if you chase the wrong goals, the ones that don't fulfill you will feel destroyed at the end. After finding the right goals, go for them! Amazing video!

    • @clararaymond
      @clararaymond Год назад +1

      @@mariancounsellor I think that 'wrong' goals can be things that are beneficial, yes, but not true to a person's cause. There are cases where people don't know what's right for them, because they don't really know themselves. From experience, I chased the wrong goals because I couldn't accept myself, and what I truly needed. In that scenario, goals didn't align with identity, and much later I learned that was very much true to me.

    i think the first “R” in S.M.A.R.T.E.R. should be realistic instead of relatable. most people can’t realistically lose 20 pounds in just a week, so instead if you make your goal more achievable and set it to at first lose 5 pounds in a week, then you’ll have the motivation to keep it up and eventually lose those 20 pounds piece by piece.

    • @successformula4u133

    Setting goal is like choosing the path you will take. Because having a path will give you a guide in reaching what destination you want to go. Motivate yourself by looking forward what was the reward you may have if you accomplish your goal.

    Apply the PDCA rule: Plan - Do - Check - Act (employed usually in business)
    Plan : define your goals with the SMART method in different areas of life (career, sport, health, knowledge, finance, etc.)
    Do : implement a plan to reach these goals -> execution of simple steps towards your goals
    Check : once a month or so, check your progress for each goal and check if you are still in line timewise
    Act : take actions with regards to your results in the previous step, e.g. if you are struggling to reach a certain goal, adapt your strategy or prioritize, implement something new.
    Repeat this cycle monthly.

    The way I see it, goals are good, but since things are constantly shifting, you're gonna have to constantly be changing how you approach it and what you do. Basically, it's rare that the first idea you get, will be the final goal result. Usually, you'll make many changes to your plan.

    Never really had any goals, or did goal planning. I got a degree in a field of work that I didn’t want to be in (I like history so I got bachelors degree in history, but the main career field is teaching (which I didn’t enjoy at all), or you go on to law school).
    If anything, I should be miserable, but instead I work a job I like with great benefits, at a place I enjoy working at, with coworkers I enjoy working with, and I’m married. I will eventually buy a house, and have kids. Don’t know when, but it will happen in time. Plus, I’m playing music in a band that I enjoy.
    Not sure what else I could want in life, and I didn’t really plan out my life or work more.

    Hello everyone i had a question and i want to have your help. Is setting goals like sleep before 11 pm , wake up at 8 am, do at least 30 mins sport everyday. These are daily goals. How can you set à deadline to Them

    • @clararaymond
      @clararaymond Год назад

      I don't think you can set a deadline to things like these, they are habits that are implemented gradually until it becomes part of your nature -- speaking from experience! So build up from where you are, like: sleeping 15 minutes earlier than usual, doing 10 minutes of sport/exercise, etc.
