    Future reference if you’re going to keep going into Toyota engine you’d be better off buying a bi hex socket from snap on. It’s specific to Toyota head bolts. The triple square can and I’ve seen it plenty of times round out the head bolts. Just my 2 cents

    "Even when they fail, they're reliable." I have a funny anecdote about that. I have a Mk1 MR2, with the good old fashioned 4A-GE. I made a quick supply trip to Walmart the night before an autocross event, and heard a strange noise, but didn't think much of it. Left bright and early the next morning as I had a 100 mile drive ahead of me, and that noise just kept persisting. Got to the event, registered, helped some with setup, then went to take a look at the car; my crank pulley was wobbling around. So I pulled off the left rear wheel and went to tighten the crank pulley, but it was still tight. Something worse was wrong. Put the wheel back on and decided my day of racing was over before it started and drove the 100 miles back home. At work the next day, I got the car up in the air and pulled the pan and the first main bearing cap. Lo and behold, my crankshaft was broken between the first main journal and the first rod journal, and it had gotten me down the road for around 230 miles like that.

    • @JaydenET
      @JaydenET 2 года назад +1

      I drove for 1000 miles with a rod knocking 1ZZ. Eventually it ran out of bearing to chew through and was just rod on crank, I just drove it home to where I had a motor sitting and turned it off and swapped it.

But My wife has an 03 Toyota MRS that I really really want to build into a track car. The MRS is total pain in the butt and we cant get it to crank. Something electronic is seems. The SMT transmission is miserable and I want to do a motor and transmission swap. I'd like to track it but my wife hasnt signed off on that yet. The other issue is that I dont know what licensing is required to run track days even if I can get the car going. I had only ever run SCCA rallycross.

    It would be really cool if you work with @FrankensteinMotorworks and 2AR / 2AR-FXE swap the MR2. I currently have a 2ZZ in my MR2 and the extra power is nice its only noticeable at the top of the motor. Personally I have been playing with the idea of 2AR-FXE swapping my car.

    I wanna see a G16E-GTS in a MRS for some reason. I think it would be a riot. Might even be able to carry over the gearbox and diff from a Yaris/Corolla

    ford sells the mach e crate motor that can replace a transaxle setup, would certainly make for a different swap than what’s to be expected

    2AR Camry motor, do something different. There's already tons of people doing 2ZZ (easiest) and K2X.
    Checkout Frankenstein Motorsports. Fairy cheap engine, 2.5 displacement and it'll get you 205whp work bolt-ons.

    I know it seems boring to do another K24A2 block/K20 head and oil pump, but if you want better track times, its really the only choice. 275whp out of a N/A 4 cylinder is hard to get out of anything else, and pretty easy to get out of a K24. I don't know if you will go that route considering you already have a RWD Honda with essentially a K series with the S2000, but either way, good luck with it. If you go with a Toyota engine, add a turbo lol.
