I bought one of these a few years ago for my first anvil at home and it has been great. Silicone a big magnet underneath the square horn and it will get rid of most of the ring. (If you don't silicone it, it was slide all over the place.)

That’s awesome! I was super impressed with it. Has held up great to abuse.
Yeah the silicone/ magnet would be an awesome fix for the ringing.

I have this one and just need a forge now 😬 so I can try making something out of steel.
I’ve used it to make projects out of thick copper wire without annealing to good effect, but the vibration whilst holding the work on the anvil takes its toll on the hand pretty quickly. Hopefully some tongs would alleviate this?
Also, the noise is deafening so I’ll definitely be trying the magnet trick as suggested here.
Hankering for the 132lb version but not sure if it’s overkill for a noob link me 😳

Haha I remember the noise was unbelievable.
Tongs would 💯 help your hands!! Even if all you have is pliers, better than using your hands.
Hope you can get a forge soon and start smithing!
