Surprising as it may sound, Benedict Arnold was second only to George Washington in saving the American Revolution by way of military accomplishments. His effective delaying tactics against the British on Lake Champlain in the summer of '76 foiled the British capture of all of upstate New York. His earlier involvement in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga enabled the artillery pieces to be brought down to Boston which directly caused the British to flee the city. Arnold practically single handedly thwarted the army of St. Ledger from reaching Albany from the west, just before the 2 battles at Saratoga. At Freemans Farm, the Americans - under Arnold - were routing the Brits and only needed some more reinforcements to win the battle, but Gates turned down Arnold's request and fired him. 3 weeks later, at the Battle of Bemis Heights (2nd Saratoga), Arnold charged into the fray, rallied the troops, and captured the pivotal Breymann Redoubt. This defeat at Saratoga directly prompted the French to enter the war and provide crucial support to the Americans. This never would have happened without Arnold's efforts.

Scruby, And *you're too lazy to learn the difference between the words *to and *too... or to use proper English. By the way, what's a scruby (skrew' bee)??
Arnold was actually injured at Saratoga, if he had died there, he would be remembered as a hero, not a traitor.
