As a Portuguese man, it's been disappointing to see Ronaldo's performance decline over the past two years. It's unfortunate that no one is willing to tell him that his time has passed. It's frustrating to hear people insist that he is still great and that he should play based on his past achievements, which I find quite sad to hear. For the last two years, it feels like we've been playing with only ten players on the field. While he is undeniably a legend, it's sad to see his reputation in Portugal suffer. Ronaldo you are hurting the team, THE TEAM, this is not an individual sport. You can't run, press, dribble, shoot, or head effectively anymore. Only your passing remains decent. Jota and Ramos deserve more opportunities, and I feel sorry for them. When Ronaldo is on the field, the team tries too hard to play to him, and it just doesn't work. Apart from that mistake against Slovenia, the only 40year old that still deserves to be on the starting 11 is Pepe.

As those Portuguese lads all stood arms around each other watching each penalty, Ronaldo is stood by himself, arms around nobody. Ronaldo pretty much missed a tap against France, cut back from Concecio and he couldn't adjust his feet. It was a better chance than it looked. That's what happens when you get older. You slow. Less alert. Jota scores that. Ronaldo nowadays can only score tap ins and penalties (if that) and Ronaldo stop with the free kick sh*t you ain't as good as you think u r at them. He's lost everything, his spring, his explosiveness n that's fine, happens to us all. But his and Martinez's refusal to accept that has cost them.
TBH, Ronaldo even in his prime, all could do was score goals, if he aint doing that and he's nearly 40 ? What's the point of him being there ? I've always thought the Messi - Ronaldo argument was silly. To me it was never close. Messi is way ahead, and his world cup win has put him in GOAT convo with Diego and Pele. Having said that this was a game Portugal shud av won. Too many missed chances n both sides were too scared to lose. But Ronaldo just go.

Ronaldo's mission was to allow the creative midfielders to shine, Fernandes, Bernardo and Felix were in miserable shape and neither properly fed Ronaldo nor used their creativity to change the game. With a second striker like Ramos playing along Ronaldo, everything would be different, Portugal would lose full control of the midfield but would score much more goals
