I suspect you are only saying that because it’s from your home country. A lot of tech to reach 0-100 in 7.9secs. This looks like a GTA5 car. Not bad but definitely inspired by Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes. But cool, route for the home team
@@omostim2385 what matters most is the heart of the car. the dmi is an industry leading tech, not to mention the battery and bms of byd is world leading. what audi or vw has can inspire those?
"7.9 seconds is damn slow" Like seriously? I find the sweet spot being 7 and 8 seconds, feels just fast enough to give you a smile, and never scares other people when you floor it. If it was 10 seconds, okay yeah, then we are hitting "Feeling damn slow" 5-6 second feels fast, 3-4 seconds is damn fast and getting close to neck breaking.
If every other EV is getting compared w/ Tesla , then yes everything else is "slow". It's a human thing , comparing a certain product to the (somewhat) equal product of the most succesful producer. In such a case i tend to see price & value , stats where that succesful producer never can reach ...
When these fantastic Chinese PHEVs and EVs can get imported into North America? The EVs and PHEVs suck here. I waited 12 months for a regular hybrid suv and, before that, waited 24+ months for PHEV(Rav4 Prime) but Toyota dealership cherry picked customers and I didn't get one after the long wait...Ridiculous.
Yooo I've seen this car today! What a coincidence 😅 Now I understand why everyone says these Chinese design cars are like nothing else. Don't know if better and prettier or the opposite, but definitely they have their own ambience/vibe in the streets
A Sydneysider here. Sometimes I wish we switch to LHD so we could have access to most of mainstream models or minimal delay in new models launch. Again that’s just a pipe dream 😢
If 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds is “pretty darn slow”, then you have been driving too many dual motor EVs and lost perspective. 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds would only ever be required if compensating for a lack of something in areas not related to the vehicle.
To clarify, I don't mean that 7.9 isn't usable for a daily driver, just that it doesn't feel in the least bit exciting. I firmly believe that most consumers need an affordable and reliable EV way more than an expensive rocket ship that does 0-100 in 3 seconds, so I'll try to do a better job of reflecting that in my future reviews.
Seal is a pure EV platform using BYD's latest e-Platform 3.0, and is based on a RWD drivetrain. Han is still on a development of BYD's older PHEV platform that is FWD biased. Seal should perform better and is more modern overall, but Han sells better because not only is it better value for money, but also the PHEV version has huge range.
Han has more "traditional" looking while Seal is "too modern" for some people. There are similar complaints with Yuan Plus (a.k.a. Atto 3). Not everyone likes the curvy interior, the round doorknob and the "guitar strings".
Tren133 has explained well about the technical difference. From a normal consummer's point of view, Han is bigger and more of a family car while Seal is very sporty and easy to drive.
Your car presentations are generally interesting but always suffer from lack of volume level equalization. Specially noticeable on 5:23 this detracts a lot from your reviews as they make it very hard to understand what you're saying.
Hi there, there seems to be news of byd in china experiencing high levels of customer dissatisfaction and returning models ….have you heard anything about this to corroborate ?
Dissastifaction and complaint: yes but hugely exaggerated. Most of the data come from a non-governmental website. There is almost zero integrity check on this site. It is recently comfirmed that BYD's PHEV model may activate its engine even in EV mode (interval is estimated to be a few days to a week in summer, and might to be longer in colder weather) and burn some fuel (estimated to be 1-2 kilmeters worth of fuel) to generate electricity. There is a long story after it. However, the complaints are usually related to recent events and would drop in 1-2 months even if nothing is done. It has been over a month since the issue was comfirmed, and complaints have significantly dropped. BMW 3 series and Toyota Corolla have returned to the podium. Returning: huge no. BYD's sales is still steadily climing. Meanwhile, some NMC battery vehicle are in problem because in a few months a VW ID.4 and a Nio EC6 bursted into flame balls after crashing with high speed (estimated to be >120km/h - I don't think anyone could survive even if they didn't burn). And everyone knows that BYD only use its own LFP battery.
@@deepseer To my understanding, the engine comes on to burn off evaporated fuel in the fuel tank to prevent evaporative emissions. Higher rates of evaporation happen in warmer weather. It does this by design. The most likely "fix" is to let customers know that this is normal during delivery so that they expect it when it happens.
People don't want PRC brands because of (1) poor build quality, (2) the lack of a decent dealer network and (3) because these tofu cars come with extreme depreciation.
