This may be the best movie of my lifetime IMHO. I'm 60 now and doubt anything else will come along to change that by the time I'm done.
He should have won the Oscar. I didn't see what was so special about Kevin Spacey's perfromance in American Beauty, any number of actors could have played that role. Richard Farnsworth's non-verbal performance in much of this movie was spectacular
Agreed, Farnsworth will be remembered long after Spacey is forgotten!

After Robert Farnsworth was diagnosed with inoperable cancer, rather than suffer for weeks and put his loved ones through an or deal, Mr. Farnsworth went to his favorite restaurant, had a steak dinner, paid for all the other patrons meals and bar tab then went home and took his own life. He was a brave man and a superb actor..

I know she wasn't in the film, but I always enjoy interviews with or seeing Sofia Coppola on film; she is just gorgeous!
She's very attractive in an unconventional kind of way.
You can just tell that all the players (in front of and behind the camera) where engaged in this movie. That is really what made what could have been sentimental or just boring a truly beautiful and moving film.
It is one of the greatest movies ever made

the project wasnt finished and he might have not known that the outcome was a box office hit as we know it to be so yeah, for him as an actor it was just another day at work.

He didn't know what It was gonna be though since It could have been a TV series or a movie at the time.
I think this made me fall in love with Sofia Coppola
