Just a couple of hours north of Hue, you'll find Dong Hoi, a small seaside city that you can use as a base to visit Phong Nha - Ke Bang, home of the world largest cave Son Doong. You can also stay in Phong Nha - Ke Bang which has similar landscape like Ninh Binh, and visit many wonderous massive caves there. Between Da Nang and Nha Trang, there's a small less touristic beach town, named Quy Nhon that can serve those who like to chill. We (family of 4 with two small boys) traveled Vietnam in the opposite direction (north down to south), visiting all places that you two went to, and a few more.
If you have a chance to go back to Vietnam, I highly recommend places in northwest like Hoang Su Phi, Mu cang Chai, Moc Chau, Mai Chau, Ta Xua, Y Ty, Simacai and others from August to early October. They are spectacular.
Hey guys, super helpful video! Going to Vietnam in January for a month and think we’ll steal your itinerary - cheers!! The Banh mi spot was the first thing I saved into google maps haha, we’ll let you know if we get that train too ;)
Just had to give Hue its due, it's certainly more than a 'one hit wonder' as there's more than just the Citadel (though it alone is certainly impressive). Check out the tombs of the Nguyen Emperors - plenty of tours will take you to the tombs of Minh Mang, Tu Duc and Khai Dinh (usually combined) or to the tombs of Gia Long, Thieu Tri, and Dong Khanh, plus you can self-visit the tombs of Duc Duc, Thanh Thai & Duy Tan. Wander through the Dong Ba wet market. Take a Dragon Boat cruise on the Perfume River (you can combine this with a visit to Gia Long's Tomb and Thien Mu Pagoda). Plenty of beautiful temples and churchs both in town and a short way out of town. Hue is also a good spot from which to take easy day trips such as visiting the DMZ, including the Vinh Moc Tunnels (very different from the Cu Chi Tunnels), visiting hot springs, check out Tam Giang Lagoon and more...
I’m going Hoi An towards end of December, do you think the weather will be very hit and miss In terms of rain? Thank for your video it helped me a lot.
Love your stuff and following you of course. Can you send or post the Google link to the "best Banh Mi" in Ho Chi Minh please. I'm in Da Nang now headed that way and have had a big hit / miss experience with the famous sandwich. Love the look of the pork crackle . . . drooling . . . and will post a shout out on IG just for you ;-)
Yessss!!! You won't be dissapointed by this one! We left the link to the map in the description of this video and the video we made about ho chi minh! I'm excited for you to try it!! 😄
I’m travelling on the 11 December, I’ve been told I don’t need a visa, I’m only there for 3 weeks?? Great advice and vid. Been downloading a few apps while watching 👏
Shame you didn't spend time in DaNang by far the best city in Vietnam, so much to do amazing beach low amount of tourists 30 minutes grab to Hoi An which is fantastic as you can head back to town as the masses of tourists hit. 1 hour to Hue which is truly amazing city Must visit
This is a great video. May I add Agoda? It’s an app. It’s pretty much all,I use. my wife Mai uses it as well as her family. Just ignore the specials. Last year before I moved here in Vietnam. I stayed in one of those cluster of building around Landmark 81. That was my first visit. And meeting my now wife Mai.It was a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. With a balcony. Living room and full kitchen for 45 a night. A great deal. And a great view. Love Da Nang, Hoian, Fansipan it rained when I was there. But still climbed it. Hue, Ha Long Bay, That’s all I’ve been to so far. Oh and the Mekong Delta Floating market tour. Da Lat is my next adventure. Thank you for sharing the info. It’s helpful even for me. That’s been here a year already. Again enjoy your videos.
That's so good! It's fantastic when you find deals like that! We do double check prices on agoda most of the time and there has been some, it's just not one we check first! Maybe it should be 👀 thanks for watching!
Hey guys. Thank you for trying to learn some words. As someone who has been and going back in a few weeks. It makes a big difference knowing a few words. It really annoys me when folks go and try to speak English to those who don’t understand. Then they try to speak slower in English like it’s going to help. I automatically stop watching the video after that. End rant lol
@@JordanandEmilythanks for the reply! Also saw my comment about the visa was probably deleted because I added the link. Sorry about that. But there’s a new evisa site that Vietnam just made a few weeks ago. Check it out, your link site will show you the link to the new site. Safe travels!

Loved Dong Hoi, small isolated but so peaceful and calm despite the turbulent past. Will try Qui Nhon next time. Thanks for sharing.
Ps- Forgot, we took the HCM trail to get there and boy...some hairaising driving experience there but the scenery were just beautiful natures....

It's always a little hit and miss but in December it should be considerably more dry! You should be absolutely fine! 😊
@ thank you both! Really enjoyed you video

From UK
we had a friend that was from the UK and she didn't need a visa we dont think! we'd still check Sherpa travel to be 100% though!
I’ve checked 🤞not on instagram but I’m going to find and try the Banh mi in Ho Chi Minh. Great video thanks
How is country doing after the typhoon yagi, everything is working perfectly?
Thankfully everything came back online super quickly!
You have to do the Ha Giang Loop. I did it in April 2024 and am going back again to do it in March 2025.
We NEED to! Honestly haven't heard a single bad word!
Shame you didn't spend time in DaNang by far the best city in Vietnam, so much to do amazing beach low amount of tourists 30 minutes grab to Hoi An which is fantastic as you can head back to town as the masses of tourists hit.
1 hour to Hue which is truly amazing city
Must visit
We loved all the cities mentioned! Will need to spend more time in Da Nang by the sounds of it!
Hey please mention which month you have travelled Vietnam?
we've travelled in September and May!
Do you need to get a special permit to fly a drone in Vietnam?
Not a physical one! Sometimes you need the unlock code for a region that you need to get through DJI though
Have you visited Mekong Delta? Is it worth it?
We didn't get into the delta unfortunately, our research made it look like it wasn't the place for us but it's always hard to know!
ok thanks! We will try it ;)
I look at safety wing insurance. It's incrediably expensive.
Really!? Our policy is extremely competitive!
For your safety never ever take the Grab motorbike , but take the Grab car instead .
Probably some wise advice 😄
What vaccinations did you have?
Dpt, tetanus and a couple of the heps I think!
Tks you cause travel my country, Your welcome. Good bless for you.
Thanks for watching! 😊
