I have a lot of respect for Anonymous. Regardless of its origins or whatever “internal” conflict’s it may (or may not) have had, for a non-profit group, it’s done a lot more than most. They also find out and call out many people, problems and situations NO ONE else can or will.

They let me off with a warning since I was a tourist and going home to my own country at the end of the week. Worth it, good times.
I went to dozens of irl protests in San Francisco in front of the org. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had in that city. And I made life long friends with a number of fellow anon, and also saved one person from the cult (who later joined our ranks). Funnier still was that I had no idea what 4chan was at the time. I just knew enough about Scientology that it was a worthy cause. Don’t care if it feels cringe now, I’m still very proud that we saved one man from sinking the rest of his life into walking “the bridge”.
@@degeneratemale5386 I suppose I am- however now I can hardly recognize what anon has become so it’s difficult to admit. We had so much damn fun- blasting music, having a party, always winning. Of course the rift Kira describes was very real- and now the boards don’t tolerate any kind of efforts that seem “morally just”. Lulz won in the end. I went to a couple in Philly. They didn't let us wear masks the first time (there was a law against covering your face like that in public or so I heard) but the second time the cops allowed us to wear them since we were so peaceful the first time. In the second protest a bunch of us piled into a U-Haul and got dropped off in front of the scientology building. Fun stuff. They got zero business that day for sure. Hello to the handful of people who grouped up and went to Subway at some point during as well, I think there were about eight of us. It for sure feels like a cringe moment looking back, but at the time it was a hell of a lot of fun.

1 year in prison and $20,000 fine for doing DDOS? Wow, that’s corrupt. It’s a cult website. Nobody should go to prison for that. Maybe house arrest without devices at worst. I hope that guy learned to be a better hacker in prison.
Honestly, in my opinion, we as a society need groups like anonymous. If they get together to go after some one or another group, what made them do so? Yes the group isn’t clean or white knights but sometimes you need that dark knight to do the job that no one else will or could
The problem is that they're even less accountable than a government, church, or some other known entity, so when the time they too commit atrocities, and they will, it will be hard to correct their wrongs. When do they start destroying lives for "Wrong Think?" People with power inevitably misuse it.
True however it does also get in the way of the real heroes. Anonymous is NOT made up of military experts or soldiers or law enforcement and as such go outside the lines of what’s right and wrong and have NO jurisdiction anywhere on earth. They have no knowledge of law or how to properly apprehend a criminal. It’s also important to remember that despite some of the good they’ve done they ARE still a criminal organization and are actually cyber terrorists. They made money illegally for a while. They’ve done some good but it’s also impossible to say if these are even the real “anonymous”. There are literally thousands of fake “Anonymous” accounts and groups. The Facebook account isn’t even likely run by them. Just little fanboys playing at being heroes with no expertise in the matter. It’s dangerous allowing civilians to conduct their own law enforcement crime prevention. They could get hurt or wind up hiring others. I have some respect for anonymous but it’s not endless, they do cross the line sometimes and fall on my bad side. They will probably have Tia sneer for their crimes at some pint soon, having said that good for them to hit Scientology. Respect for that. Fuck that cult shit. Scientology should be left crippled and broke until nothing is left. Cults should be shutdown.

With the illegal treatment by governments to people of integrity like Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, and Chelsea Manning, entities existing under the blanket of anonymity are in many ways, essential.
I remember I was an assistant civil engineer on the Waters edge complex .... which is one block south one block west of the Scientology building in downtown Clearwater... If you've ever been to Clearwater, in order to get to Clearwater Beach, there's a road called alternate 19... and there are a slew of small motels up and down this particular stretch of highway from Curlew Road south to State Road 60.... over the years the church of Scientology has picked up these hotels, and I'm assuming when you become a member you move in to one of the hotels that's furthest away and as you work your way up, you move closer and closer to the main Scientology building.... Which if you have ever commuted early in the morning driving down, alternate 19 you'll see a ton of individuals dressed exactly the same black shoes, black pants, white shirt, black tie... working way further south... The Scientology building is only religious building that I can recall that has armed guards on patrol ... and this is prior to 2008... I was working on that building in 2006... I remember that day with all those people that were down in Clearwater.... to be honest, I thought it was a convention like comicon or something like that.... It's crazy to think that on that day, I witness history being made
I used to live on N. Fort Harrison right down the road from the org. I road my bike through there and across the bridge to the beach everyday because I worked on the island. I am OBVIOUSLY not one of them. They watched me every time I passed there and once asked me to take an alternative route. Crazy place.

At one point 2/3 of the my friends were people I'd met through the Chanology protests. A few of us kept them up monthly for 3 years. I went on holiday to a city I'd never been to before, thousands of km away, and randomly ran into a bunch of anons who were handing out flyers. We all spontaneously decided to move from the city to the street outside the local Scientology building. I wasn't there 5 minutes before a Scientology guy in a suit came out and greeted me by name lol. These days their main tactic is to use their front organisations to recruit vulnerable people because we ruined their reputation so thoroughly. So they try putting brochures in all the nearby shops for their "Drug Free World" front which just funnels addicts to their Narconon front.
They lost that war though. EU already signed, and every company that imports to/operates within the EU has to comply within.. i think it was.. 5 years? I forget exactly.
@@DaMoniable Much as I hate to admit, Scientology won't operate in countries that value ideologies more than human rights so they can only exploit freedom of speech. its so facinating to me what people are willing to do if they know they are 100% anonymous people behave only because of consequences and being judged by others but watch a protest with thousand people all dressed in black, all of them are suddently a billion times more courageous, numbers and anonymity does that. and its incredible and horrifying at the same time.
It's more the case for individuals acting alone. Once you have an individual in a group, especially if all members of that group are united through their beliefs, intention, and at least to some extent dress (e.g. a mask), the individual can be lost and subsumed by the crowd. As soon as they are a member of a crowd, they will conform to the crowd. I'm actually not sure which is more powerful for getting someone to do something that they would never normally do - give them anonymity, or give them a group to conform to. Both are very powerful
That’s why big churches become a cult. Then split and become big again only to become a cult. The bigger an organization gets the more corrupt it becomes. Out Government leaders and police departments prove this. They always became an organized criminal enterprise. Always.
heck yeah. I went to some project chanology stuff! My organizer was a real nice dude, he rented a UHAUL to unload us all in front of the philly building (so they wouldn't see our license plates, edited to explain that, since people might not get why that was a thing) and bought masks for everyone. My parents still got threatening letters though, p sure we had a plant, they were really persistent about getting into our IRC chats and sneaking into social connections. Those old music videos of the protests using Still Alive are so corny but they get me all up in my feelings, it's the last time 4chan felt like fun.
I remember an original anonymous in 2012 2013 when he was supposedly arrested by the feds but his real name never came out. Very odd. Probably got a deal to work for the feds rather than prison.
I cant find it anymore but years ago i read an article about some south american teenage boy hacking some embassy in the us (seemingly out of boredom lol) and secret services worldwide being all about him - but not to prosecute.
The irony of the "V" mask...L.Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, and Alan Moore, the author of "V" for Vendetta, were both disciples of Alester Crowley.
L. Ron Hubbard never met Crowley as he never went to england. Alan Moore was born in 53, crowley died in 47. No clue how you could claim they were disciples.
Barbara Bush was Crowley’s daughter. Isn’t it odd that her husband was a Skull and Bones member? Not an accident. What is unseen is scarier than you could ever imagine.

What still fucks me up so much about the whole LulzSec thing is that I was actually "friends" with one of the guys who got arrested in relation to it, Ryan Cleary. It was like 2006 and he was selling cheap web hosting, so I bought from him, found out we lived pretty close to one another and ended up talking to him on MSN. He had an insanely warped sense of humor, would send me pictures of severe animal abuse because I was a stupid 14 year-old and let him know how much it bothered me. Showed me how to use basic SQL injections and exploits to get admin access on random internet forums and fuck with them. Then, 2011 rolls around and what do I see? His fucking name in the news. Arrested for being a part of Lulzsec and for possessing huge amounts of CP. Utter insanity.

Between chanology and Lulzsec there was a whole bunch of other Ops that grew Anonymous into a MOVEMENT, the first Op Iran being one of them, it's where the playbook to Anon Ops was really hammered into shape, replicated even today in other Ops. We got "blessings" from The Pirate Bay for Iran Ops when they changed their banner logo to bring attention to the cause, calling it "The Persian Bay." The conspiracies that spun from that gave us a good laugh when people claimed the TPB was in FULL CONTROL of Anonymous; we let them run with it for the lulz! The first Op Iran was the defacto op that really shifted Anon to take up more political causes involving injustices! There is a lot to skim in a few minutes but thank you for giving our stories a spotlight; too many people want to begin in 2011 / 2012 but for us in the trenches it was all 2008!

There was a rumor going around Hollywood back in the early 2000s and late 90s that Tom Cruise was gay or at least Bi- because they were some rumors about him and Val Kilmer hooking up during Top Gun. So it wouldn't surprise me if they probably used that to blackmail him into being their pet.
Tremendous videos, these are very addictive and really well produced. It's amazing how something with some clout like this sprouted out of 4chan of all places.
It's funny how lots of people (especially those who should know better) still don't understand Anonymous and confuse the concept with the people. I absolutely agree with everything you said. It’s sad (but not too sad) but true (so very true). I always saw the world very much thru the lens of predator/prey, like people are fundamentally wolves OR they are fundamentally sheep (or tigers and squirrels if you prefer). At some point in my teens I extended this metaphor to include an archetype that protected & preserved other creatures rather than exploit and consume them, a character-type analogous to a shepherd. After my first kid was born, it dawned on me that there are not altruistic shepherds-that’s actually one of those like jumbo shrimp. Or maybe it’s more like the old Hollywood trope about the hooker with a heart of gold, or the maverick politician running for office- they’re a myth, they never existed, like Andy Griffith’s America. See, shepherd is a job not a core character in your life’s play, and certainly not any actual person you’ve ever known. People are too dynamic for such a flat ideal to be applicable. Worst yet, the only reason anyone has ever spent weeks in the wild keeping 1 eye on dozens of animals, and the other eye on dozens of other animals (for very different reasons) is so they can feed on the animals under their care in a slower way, more like a leech, so you don’t eat it all up and have to keep hunting over and over. A sheep that can’t be sheared or milked, is dinner. So shepherds are actually just the greediest wolves of all. I lived for 15+ years under this flawed premise that the shitty world was what caused good people to turn shitty eventually. But now I have a pretty good idea that it’s all the shitty people that make the world so incredibly shitty, they literally blot out the less shitty people like an eclipse ( like a cosmic double whammy of shitty causality inevitably concluding in shitty effects that ripple thru space/time like throwing an existential rock into the open sewer that is our reality. It’s been a decade since I cut ties with everyone but the 3 friends I felt I still had. Within 3 years of that 2 of the last 3 had died. In a very real way all friendships are destined to end the same way- 1 friend dying and the other living long enuff to see their 1 constant abandon them, arguably when they’re most needed, to continue living the only way anyone can after such a loss: by carrying on best we can, by surviving which literally means barely living thru something. Believe me being alive is hardly living. It’s more like “livin” (in that it’s not quite “living”). But I digress. All I wanted to say really was you’re not alone, and thanks for the truth.
The mask is NOT the “V for Vendetta” mask. It’s a Guy Fawkes mask. You know, the reason for the British poem that started, “Remember, remember, the fifth of November…”
i was about to comment the same thing, but I just looked it up. this specific mask IS from V for Vendetta. It was designed by an illustrator for the original graphic novel. Historically, people did wear masks imitating Guy Fawkes' face as a tribute, but this specific depiction came from the book/movie.
LulzSec both did a lot of good and a lot of harm. Among the good they did, was leaking lots and lots of evil from both major corporations and national entities alike, which even reverberates to this day in the growing disdain for big corporations and politicians constant games that completely disregard the wishes of their populations.
They just need to stop fighting among themselves and put their differents aside and go back to the good they were to hold company's and authoritys responsible for their actions. Please pull together again and help people and the world

And look how the news media now. Many of them are dying, including CNN.
To be fair, around the same time politicians were pushing the narrative of "killer games" leading to school shootings.
That’s hilarious 🤣
News media: Cyber terrorists hunting down peaceful civilians.
Im Sorry for people who are trapped inside this Scientology cult
I went to dozens of irl protests in San Francisco in front of the org. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had in that city. And I made life long friends with a number of fellow anon, and also saved one person from the cult (who later joined our ranks). Funnier still was that I had no idea what 4chan was at the time. I just knew enough about Scientology that it was a worthy cause.
Don’t care if it feels cringe now, I’m still very proud that we saved one man from sinking the rest of his life into walking “the bridge”.
Why would you feel embarassed about doing some good? Thats just weird. Scientology is still a thing, its still an evil and abusive cult.
It’s not cringe, it’s doing good. Be proud of this
@@degeneratemale5386 I suppose I am- however now I can hardly recognize what anon has become so it’s difficult to admit. We had so much damn fun- blasting music, having a party, always winning. SFPD stopped showing up to deal with us because we were always above board. Of course the rift Kira describes was very real- and now the boards don’t tolerate any kind of efforts that seem “morally just”. Lulz won in the end. (And speculating because I haven’t dared even look at 4chan for my own mental health in years).
Fun stuff. I feel a bit bad now, as we were in front of some store (we were across the street from the Scientologists) and the manager kept coming out to tell us to leave. They got zero business that day for sure. Hello to the handful of people who grouped up and went to Subway at some point during as well, I think there were about eight of us. It for sure feels like a cringe moment looking back, but at the time it was a hell of a lot of fun.
I went to one in the UK but they weren’t as big as they was in the US and met some off my closet friends at those and still talk to them daily.
Anonymous has always fascinated me for some reason. I love watching videos about them. Thanks for your hard work as always Kira!

1 year in prison and $20,000 fine for doing DDOS? Wow, that’s corrupt. It’s a cult website. Nobody should go to prison for that. Maybe house arrest without devices at worst. I hope that guy learned to be a better hacker in prison.
"Anonymous has decided that your organization should be destroyed."
Well shit....
😂😂
I stand with Anonymous on this 1 as well as most issues👍Keep up the good work through revealing the truth and exposing the real evils out there
Honestly, in my opinion, we as a society need groups like anonymous.
Taxi guys have a union. Shopkeepers have a union. Even beggars have a union. Only we common citizen - who pay the BULK of Taxes dont have one. We are fooled into thinking that the Government we vote into, is a Fiduciary and represent us. But they are the BIGGEST Pimps, fed by these other "Unions"
Wish the hackers and public would keep the same energy with much more harmful larger religions/cults than scientology though.
It's generally what media are meant to do, but they lost their independence decades ago. America's hatred of government services as opposed to for profit services is a big reason for their loss of independence worldwide

The importance of white hat hackers is higher now than ever before... wish them all the luck possible and that their ranks grow...
Gray hat.

Scientology still stalks my parents even though have been dead for several years. My parents met at a scientology event, but were told they couldn't get married because my mother was older than my step father. Both left the origination but were stalked with request for fees and payment for more than 20 years. Still this day, with both of my parents gone I receive money requests for money

@@JoeDavidson-b1e it's really weird... So they try putting brochures in all the nearby shops for their "Drug Free World" front which just funnels addicts to their Narconon front.

people behave only because of consequences and being judged by others
but watch a protest with thousand people all dressed in black, all of them are suddently a billion times more courageous, numbers and anonymity does that. and its incredible and horrifying at the same time.
Anonymity ironically reveals a mans true face.
@@jaspal99 lmao yes 100% agree
Always.

The irony of the "V" mask...L.Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, and Alan Moore, the author of "V" for Vendetta, were both disciples of Alester Crowley.
your getting close
L. Ron Hubbard never met Crowley as he never went to england. Alan Moore was born in 53, crowley died in 47. No clue how you could claim they were disciples.

Scientology has never regretted anything. It's not on their play book.
It almost seems like the underground world described in ‘FIGHT CLUB’. Interesting!
