Nice to hear you, see u again our dear gurus. What is fantastic combination between British English and American English. The sweetness of british and the deliciousness of american. You are doing amazing job, thanks a lot. 🙏🙏🇸🇪🇸🇪
Wow, I learned so much today, and in only 8 minutes. Ok, I watched it twice, so it's 16 min. The only one I already knew was "spill the beans", except for story behind it. BTW, the stories behind each idiom help me remember their meanings. I think that's why Jesus used parables to teach. We all love a good story. You guys can teach and entertain at the same time. I wish every teacher in the world was like you. Love you!!! 🇧🇷
I love Jay's blue ruffled jacket and triangular hat from the 1800s. It just goes to show that if you keep clothes long enough, they'll come back into fashion! :)
You are awesome! Thanks so much for your creative and funny videos. Great ways to teach English for sure. I teach English and recommend your videos to my students. Please keep on doing this! 🏅
When I was a little baby I had a silver spoon (and fork) for my meal. Yesss, my family had those fancy traditions. *Idiom* then is an old sentence used for some specific situation. In Spanish it would be *refrán* or *dicho* it's funny 'cause Idiom in English sounds like to _idioma,_ what means language. We use to say here in Chile when we feel very hungry *I would eat a horse* , a Gringo friend of mine Jeff told me they say same idiom in the United States. Hahaha. When you have work until midnight we use to say _I borned my eye lashes,_ similar perhups to English and thinking in a candle on the table when electricity not available. Thank you so much for the way ytou both teach, very histrionic and full of love. 🥰🇨🇱
Yes Ahmed. This is Jay writing back to you. We are hearing that from a lot of our viewers. As humans, I suspect we have much more in common than we have differences.
I'm very happy to find this channel, okay I'm from Indonesia and nite to meet you 😊. Now I have a question, what's about spill the tea? Thanks a bunch.
it's been a while since I last come to your channel and I'm glad that you're still making wonderful videos. How are you holding up? I hope everything is great for you both.
Javi, we're doing very well. Thanks for asking. The pandemic restrictions are ending here in Philadelphia and we're starting to get out and to see people. Take care and be safe.
Funny how the same expression has a complete different meaning in another language : getting on his high horse is literally "monter sur ses grand chevaux" in French but means getting easily angry and not feeling superior.
That's so interesting, Bruno. Thank you for sharing the way the same phrase in French has a different meaning than it does in English. And thanks for watching.
Excellent information Dr. Ahmed. Thanks so much for sharing that. We're hearing about many similarities from viewers all over the planet :-) Thanks for watching our video.
Aryan, when these idioms become part of the language, we just hear them used in context all the time, so native speakers don't have to remember them. But we hoped giving you the stories behind each of them might help you to remember :-) Thanks for watching.
You made me realise that even after living in England 24 years, I’ve still been misinterpreting the meaning of ‘putting your best foot forward.’ I didn’t know the British meaning until now.
Do not be on your high horse / Get off your high horse = ලොකු වංශයෙන් spill the beans = කට වහගන ඉන්නෙ නෑ කියා හළනවා She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. ධනවත් පවුලක ඉපදී
Hands down, being born with a silver spoon in your mouth will always provide you with higher chances to succeed than if your father is a coal miner, curiously enough. 😁😁 (BTW, I am a coal miner's daughter)
Hi Mel. I think what you say might well be true, BUT we all have the power within us to succeed and to overcome obstacles. We need only the opportunity to exercise that power.

I love Jay's blue ruffled jacket and triangular hat from the 1800s. It just goes to show that if you keep clothes long enough, they'll come back into fashion! :)

Great video this week, Vicki and Jay
Yes Ahmed. This is Jay writing back to you. We are hearing that from a lot of our viewers. As humans, I suspect we have much more in common than we have differences.
The Portuguese for behaving in a snobbish way or attempting to be superior toward others is “getting on the high heels”. Fantastic video!
That's such a great phrase, Claudio. Thanks for sharing that and thanks for watching.
I'm very happy to find this channel, okay I'm from Indonesia and nite to meet you 😊. Now I have a question, what's about spill the tea? Thanks a bunch.

Amazing video ....in Iraq also we say (born with a silver spoon in his mouth) and (be on / get off your high horse) with the same meaning
Excellent information Dr. Ahmed. Thanks so much for sharing that. We're hearing about many similarities from viewers all over the planet :-) Thanks for watching our video.
I always wonder how do English people remember all of these! Its very hard actually .... Its very skillful
Aryan, when these idioms become part of the language, we just hear them used in context all the time, so native speakers don't have to remember them. But we hoped giving you the stories behind each of them might help you to remember :-) Thanks for watching.

Ales, this Jay writing back to you. I didn't know that meaning either until Vicki explained it. :-)

In German it is a golden spoon.
Yes, we've heard that Tom. Thanks for sharing. So interesting.
Horse's races are often cruel
Yes Thiago. We've certainly seen a number of horses severely injured in races in America. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching our video.
Do not be on your high horse / Get off your high horse = ලොකු වංශයෙන් spill the beans = කට වහගන ඉන්නෙ නෑ කියා හළනවා She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. ධනවත් පවුලක ඉපදී
Thanks for doing these translations, Chitra. Much appreciated.
