    Project looks great. A couple suggestions: Drill the counterbores first with the Forstner bit then drill the through hole. The Forstner bit point will leave a center point making it easier to drill through with the smaller bit. Second, wait until you put the finish on the board before you mount the handles.

    I love seeing anything using epoxy whether it’s river tables or lathe work.
    If I may… if you hold the gallon jug, flat and pour instead of pouring forward it won’t “glug” out of the bottle. It will pour a smoother stream and is easier to control the amounts without the “drooling” down the front of the container.

    Always a treat to see the beautiful Zoe show us her talent in woodworking. The Crafted Elements form is a really neat tool for the home craftsman that wants to get into Charcuterie board making using an epoxy filler. Thanks for sharing. After wiping on the mineral oil, it looked like the initial pour marks were still visible. Did they finally absorb and disappear, or would it be easier to use a sponge or rag dipped in a cup of the oil to not have those pour marks? The board did come out looking beautiful.

    • @recklessbehaviour01
      @recklessbehaviour01 3 года назад

      I noticed that too. Thought it would have been better to pour the mineral oil on the epoxy and wipe from there outwards.

    That is very cool! When you run it through the planer you should build an extension to the out-feed. When the board is unsupported past the feed roller, it will drop a little. This is called snipe. When you get snipe, the board tips a little into the knives of the planer. It looked like this happened. Of course you can sand the snipe out. The more that you sand, the more distortion in the surface. The goal is minimal sanding. Hope this helps. Keep striving for excellence...

  • @Elmaspinche

    Nice 👍. just never drizzle the oil either damp cloth or sponge. Never straight drizzle on, it'll leave mark. By the time it'll take you to smear it the wood has already soaked it leaving shadow. Happens in epoxy yarn/fishing rod eye threads n etc the color hue changes due to amount of absorption

    Superb work. Great choice in die colors.
    If you’ll sneak up on the last planer pass by only taking a few thousands of an inch. You may be able to reduce that snipe. It doesn’t always work on a two post planer. You can also try lifting the board as the last few inches come it. That doesn’t always work either. But, that might also be worth a try.
    An old woodworkers truck is to run through a longer sacrificial board will normally prevent it!
    One thing that is guaranteed... Slightly dull blades or slop in the bearings will make any planer snipe!
    Nice video.... thanks.
    FYI... I’m doing a series of videos on repairing a Victorian staircase on my channel.

You can clean that wood up beautiful and do some more beautiful wood craft............I have found some black walnut, Brazilian Rosewood, rainbow popular, African Mahogany, Zebra wood, Tiger wood, red heart and so much more.............Remember. Pallets are being shipped from all over the world.........Whenever a company shipped something heavy and expensive.......The will not use cheap wood............. I been riding around warehouses and finding these pallets........I call it pallet fishing, lots of 🤩

    You should finish the board off with 3M Scotch-Brite Abrasive Scuff Pads, in Ultra Fine, and Light Duty which goes down to 2500 grit. It will get your epoxy polished and take out the fine scratches.
