- This is a really cool build, I was inspired to make this flickering flame lantern after watching a video of@Adam Savage’s Testedbuild a prop lantern. They look like an actual candle flickering. Powered by 3 AA batteries.

Elegantly simple build. Well done Andrew, thank you.
This is such a nice straight forward project with such a great result. Thanks for sharing, this is definitely something I'm going to have to try to recreate. Love all your stuff!
Very nice. Because you have frosty lantern windows, you can remove the inner frosty cover and get more overall light output.
Realized that I forgot to post the STL files to Thingiverse, link is now in the description www.thingiverse.com/thing:4600563/files
dead link
@@kobolila-yt thanks will check and update

@@AndrewWorkshop this is working; previously I got a msg that said that it couldn't be found and that I had "reached the end of Thingiverse" :-)
Extremely satisfying
Seems like a good build for halloween, also *but it actually works* lol
If you want a more bubbled, antique looking glass, run a couple of layers of mod podge with a drop of white paint in it on the inside.
Hello! Those look GREAT! 🔥💕👌🏾 I just made some of them…ls there any way possible, they can be put on a timer, also using a remote control? If so, how would I do that? Thank you! 😇
Really cool!
You are only supplying 4.5 V through the 3 AA batteries and the lamps require 5 V no?
Great man.
Great job 👏
Love it beautiful
I did something similar, but potted it inside a foam jack-o-lantern on top of a scarecrow for halloween.
Any idea of how long they will "burn"? I dont think they would use so much power but would be interesting to know sens I'm working on my own now after watching your video. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, have you found out yourself?
I attached one of these to solar panel and put it in an outdoor lantern. Looks great but defaults to solid (non-flickering light). Any one know how to disable that function so it will only flicker?
the project that im building requires that I only use the flame effect of the bulb. the bulbs linked to this project that are still available are multiple modes. anyone know how to make it always use the flame effect when it is turned on? my application is not practical to cycle through to get the one you want.
*Would be wonderful if you added a dc motor controller to adjust brightness.*
How long do the batteries last?
Excellent... 🙂👍👍
Unfortunately, most flame bulbs now directly mount the flex pcb to the transformer board. It makes it a little more difficult and I have had no luck finding the old style bulbs.
Good job man, absolutely gorgeous. Would You be interested in selling your 3-D printed battery base? Some of us don’t have a 3-D printer at home.
Great project. Have you established how long 3 AAs last, yet? I'm thinking an 18650 might be my avenue, since I have several of them. And depending what lamps I find. I've never bought these flame bulbs, but this is def. a project I will make. I'm thinking of a Christmas gift for someone... ( AAs the gift units.) Thanks man, great mod!!
I made these as gifts and AA batteries were the simplest so they (elderly) didn't have to deal with charging. Using a flat USB power bank or 18650 would work really well too, then you could just charge them up. Good luck and thanks!
Now all I need is a few hundred dollars to but a 3D printer
Toop
I want that so bad but im kind of broke😩😂
In my opinion both the orange and the large amount of flicker makes these look fake
Yea but you have to keep buying batteries :(
That’s not so bad, l think that’s a better alternative, if than a higher light bill..😂
@@pinkgypsytees Batteries are significantly more expensive than electricity service, and produce more waste to the environment.
