bear in mind, that what you see on the TV/output is "better looking" than the blown up, pixelated image you see inside the VR headset.

Some people have issues, they don't know how to play games. It's horrible to look at.
+Ganjaseed This video isn't a direct cut from the Vive, the field of view has been reduced substantially (I assume to reduce the fish-eye effect), and it's possible they cut the upper half of the video instead of the center.
+Loshan T You have no excuse in VR - the view controls are the same as real life. In this case though, the issue seems more likely to be how they cut the video from the Vive.

Considering how much effort goes into 3D models, such as the ones used in this demo, it is unlikely that they were cobbled together _only_ for this demo.

Luckily I've been fortunate enough to play this demo myself in a Vive demo unit, and it is an awesome showcase of what the technology is capable of. Can't wait to take one home! :-)
Anyone watching should just find another demo that someone else did. This one is terrible, can't see half of what's going on, and makes ya dizzy.

I feel like whoever was using the VR really didn't give themselves enough space in the real world to move around. This is super disorientating when you watch something like this. People like NODE have loads of space and it doesn't make you feel sick when watching it because they're not confined to a small amount of space unlike this video.

no, it's a good FOV. I do not like high FOVs because they make my eyes pop out (and i've got no eye problems).

Having watched this demo a lot of times, this is the worst showcase I've ever seen.
I liked this demo but why on earth is the operator staring at the ceiling for more than half the video!?!? I couldn't see anything that was going on because this guy is either Amazonian or has a neck cramp that makes him look up the entire time.

I'm telling you right now. This is a test platform for mechanics that you WILL see in Half - Life 3 when it is eventually announced that it's going to be a VR exclusive or something. They are waiting to make it as ground breaking as possible.

+Hugo Bareiro Seeing as how valve just started pre-orders for their own VR headset, it would make sense. Half-Life 3 has a tremendous amount of hype surrounding it, make it a VR only product and you increase VR sales because people will want to play HL3.

I don't think so. Valve always gave the common pc players what they want. I'm 100% sure that HL3 will be playable with keyboard+mouse+monitor AND there will be an option to play it with VR.

***** If you don't think that Valve has been hanging on to Half Life 3 for VR then you are not in touch with what Valve aims to do when it releases a Half Life title. Which is changing the industry standard. They won't release HL3 until they can make have as big an impact on gaming as HL1 had and HL2 had. Sure, it MAY end up being playable on regular rigs, but I highly suspect it's going to be VR focused.

This demo is really cool the first time around. Then you can go back and play it again and notice tiny details you missed before. After that, well, there isnt much to it. This is absolutely intended to be just a primer for first time VR users. It does an excellent job for what it sets out to accomplish.
