Thank you very much for this video. I found it very useful as I am currently a semi professional artist and am soon to retire from my boring 9 to 5, when I hope to become a full time artist. I’ve just found you on YT. You’ve convinced me that Fine Art America is the place to display. The free website sold me. Others have mentioned FAA but no one else gave the details you did-Thank you for your review!! Let’s make Fine Art America the best and biggest POD site because they’re doing it right! More artists need to know about this-Thank you again. Now I know where I need to be!!

They are super awesome indeed, though they are one of the most expensive ones in terms of shipping (I guess no POD can be perfect, yeah?)
I have been looking for other POD sites that have this options of having your own store, while still keeping to the automated part of the print on demand process, but so far, the ones I've found, while cheaper, were terrible in their "custom website" options.
I am now in the last stages of my research on that, need few more days to see, but I do believe that eventually FAA will be chosen- and that will give us another tutorial on - how to set up your own domain with FAA + more customization options for that independant website :)

I do not want to be all over the place because the more you spread, the "thiner“ you become. All over the place doesn't cut it, you need to pick what's best for your own projects/character and dig deeper !

Yeah, they have a lovely selection of items... Though- looking back at them now - so many other print on demand suppliers offer jigsaw puzzles, and more unique items than they do. Seems like the last year- many POD marketplaces and suppliers changed- while FAA stayed static.
They do, however, have the option to sell the file of the photo :)

Thank you for your video. The problem I see with FAA is that their final image jpeg specs requirements for their gallery are vague and very confusing. It is clear that you should not resize your art or photo using photoshop, but since customers have options to order art at different sizes, sizing the art correctly is absolutely critical, and one size fits all is not the best solution. I have read posts were several artists complained that their art was too blurry when the customer purchased the image on a larger canvas and the sale was lost. FAA needs to do a better job defining final jpeg sizing based on optional canvas sizes available to potential buyers.

I mentioned it in many videos that I am investing less time in FAA, for many reasons, but mostly cause my style has completely changed, and also their shipping prices to the EU are insane, so I couldn't really test out anything from them.
I still find it to be an awesome platform for photographers, I just don't use it much myself.

I am sorry to let you down, but there haven't been many FAA videos here.
I was so into them, however, last year when I was injured again, and couldn't leave the house for a while, my desire for advertising photography kinda went out the window. Also- seeing the insane shipping prices to the EU that made it very hard for me to really see their quality.
I got a new camera a couple of days ago, and have been thinking of getting back into photography, so I might do in fact make a test run at FAA and order some products, even though shipping prices are insane, and maybe get back to the platform.

@@barbarag7831 Do you mean the news of them having the digital download option ??
I am not sure what you want to design there, but I can tell you that the people most worried about this are people that sell cards and invites, as they often see orders that are for several hundred unites... Something that doesn't happen with posters.
Also- today is the LAST day for people to opt-out from selling printables, so if that's what you're worried about I'd recommend joining Zazzle right now, and simply disabling that option from your shop.
FYI, FAA also has the option to sell digital files using their sister company pexels, just so you know...

Hi! I joined your Fine Arts of America group. I'm Gloria Brooks. I just found your channel here today. I'm getting so much value from it! Wow! Thank you for pouring out so much of yourself and sharing vast amounts of how to's! I started my Fine Art America page last year. To date, I"ve not done any marketing for it whatsoever. I did set up an Instagram and FB page for it, but, zero sales, which is understandable since I've not done any marketing. I have an online teaching business and have been very challenged with selling online courses (through my Wordpress and now Samcart) and digital products as of late for home and school K12 educators. I think I need to hunker down, get blogging and cranking out more YOuTube videos, posting to Pinterest and using my sales funnels, honestly. Anyway, that's what brought me here to you. Hello from, Texas. I'm also a photographer. I've been on FAA since 2020, but I've been pretty slack about pushing it. I focused on wall art and refused to list my images on the "products." You have me thinking I might need to open up to those as well. I may even look into going FAA Pro. I did Zenfolio for about a year and a half after retiring and used it as my website. Nice place if you are busy, working pro doing portraits, sports teams, weddings, or similar. Not really for the artist unless you are heavy into your self-marketing. I may branch back out to social media again in a limited way since FAA posts your new uploads to your media pages and gets you traffic to them. Oh yeah, I joined your group. Gotta keep the photographers represented as artists.
On a totally weird side note. Love your defined canines. LOL. Just a quirk of mine, nothing more. Might be the whole wolf thing.

I have been through, personally, MANY changes since making this video, and have detailed them in about 5 monthly goals videos. Not sure how I can comment all of them here as they are very long... but to sum them up- I was injured 2 years ago and when through a prolonged period of not being able to go and photograph anything, and even hating every photo I ever took before that injury. I haven't continued trying to sell photographs.
I also got an iPad to better help me work from bed, and fell in love with Procreate.
I also didn't have money to test-order FAA items, mostly due to their crazy shipping prices... I did make a test order recently and will make a video reviewing them. (again, a lot has changed in the past 2 years...)

Oh... FAA... I was updating on that in the past year and a half with my goals videos...
To make it short- I was injured in July 2021, and couldn't go out and photograph anymore.
So uploading these photos was such a downer for my mental health. Then I got an ipad and started making procreate designs. and as the channel grew I had the chance to also test a lot of different types of POD suppliers and platforms... and FAA was so expensive to test, as an item could be 15 dollars with 35 dollars shipping here- so i kinda left the idea of FAA.
I have a better camera now, not just my phone, and was thinking of coming back to it- but started with other projects.
I still think it's a great platform, and I know people who successfully sell their prints on their FAA website, but I kinda went a different direction.

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 года назад

That depends on how big your photos are, if you want your own domain/shop, or just to be at a marketplace....
I think that you can make a good shop using Prinitfy & Etsy for POD photography prints, you can also start with Shopify, or upload your designs to Society6.
There are just so many (that I really need to make a comparison video about).
However, you also have to remember that marketing yourself is key, as well as the audience. FAA is amazing for US buyers, but if you're audience would mostly be from the UK, for example, shipping rates would be insane, and it would be better to choose a different POD marketplace/supplier.

I think that my journey with FAA was discussed in a lot of "monthly goals" videos... In short- I was injured last year, couldn't go out and take photos, and was really down from even looking at my own photography. When I "came out of it" I noticed I can't really check the quality of FAA as shipping prices were insane to Europe, and kinda left that project behind.
I do have a better camera now, and was thinking to head back to FAA, but got so many other projects going on that it's not on the top of my to do list.
I have had endless problems with Printify myself... even test orders- 65% never came !!
And I have seen on the Printful Insiders' group that people were also complaining... Have you tried Awkward Styles? They are still small, but their printing quality is insane, and they are super responsive to questions and stuff like that on social media..
I made this review with them :

As this was a video made a LONG time ago, and a lot has changed since...
I don't use FAA actively anymore (spoke about it in about 10 videos since but in short: was injured and looking at my photographs made me extremely depressed... I ended up getting an iPad, as I was long hours in bed and couldn't sit well enough for being with a laptop, and started my journey with Procreate.
I now have graphics and text designs on teepublic, some digital art on Society6, and starting with Zazzle on a niche of journaling, and self love...
(Also in the early stages of KDP...)
In general- you can have the same designs (photographs, text based, graphic...) on multiple platforms. But- you might also wanna consider the quality of the items (some suppliers make better prints than tshirts and vice versa) - as well as the general audience of that marketplace.
If you're only a photographer, I'd focus on FAA, or even start an Etsy shop with external print on demand suppliers (or a shop on Shopify).

That’s cause they are the same platform.
When you sign in with one you automatically have an account with the other.
I’ve been chatting up with FAA on Facebook since the video premiered yesterday, and will be having a second video on them that includes the pixels thing (why they have it) as well as options only existing on that one.

What’s your marketing strategy, how will you find potential customers and lead them to FAA? Platform isn’t as important as how YOU will hustle to sell it to people. Got any plan?
Both platforms will not give you control of clients’ database, only your own website.

I have a question that can we use photography pictures on this platform from free sources on the internet like Unsplash or any other?

    • @jimg9820
      @jimg9820 3 года назад +3

Seems to be quite a lot of public domain "Old Master" type paintings on there, so I guess you can. Though I think the terms on Unsplash are that you need to "substatially" change the image to use it for commerical gain.

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  3 года назад +3

Free photos- doesn't mean free for commercial use, and even commercial use approved images would have terms on how you can use them, if you need to make changes to them, and where you can sell them on.
"From the internet" - NO. The internet holds ALL photos.
Specifically Unsplash- you cannot use photos commercially without making significant changes to them- it's in their licence page

Are there any protections for uploads to Fine Art America? I am a portrait artist displaying my art in pencil, charcoal, and colored pencil. Many friends and family have concerns that my work may be copied and resold. Do I need copyrights or trademarks to protect my work?

    • @MeyTribe

Your art can be copied on ANY single platform you place it online. There is no protection from someone looking at what you made and recreating it... The only way to fully protect art, unfortunately, is to never post it anywhere online, not even social media.

I have actually updated on my FAA store in several of my "goals" videos, mostly that I left FAA.
That shop was for photography, and few months after making this video I had broke my coccyx and was paralyzed for a while, and seeing these photos It broke my heart and I took them down.
I also couldn't test order the quality after I got better, due to insane shipping prices from FAA to Europe, and am currently thinking to test them out now that I can afford it better, plus have a camera for photography and not my phone.
So, I left FAA, I might be back and will update if so. (sorry, it's just a very old video... I still love their platform a lot, but gonna wait a bit to test it more to get back to it... as in the meantime i found awesome websites with amazing quality wall art and prints)

I don't really do those. Knowing that someone else makes money or not- has no value to anyone but themselves. Cause you also need to have their EXACT marketing strategy and art.
I have also mentioned in several videos after this one that I am still trying to figure out what to put on FAA, and still not marketing it as I don't market anything I haven't checked the quality of.
I will most likely focus 2022 on Society6 and Art of Where - as I have tested their items and they are in super quality :)

@@Style_Founder well, if you plan on selling graphic designs on FAA website - I say don’t bother…
If you plan on investing time in the option they give you for your own website + do marketing + have most of your followers from the USA - I’d say go for it.
I know people who make a lot of money with FAA and people who make zero. That’s why I’m saying knowing how much someone makes means nothing to another - unless you have their exact marketing and designs.
If you’re looking for that info cause you don’t want to do marketing - take your designs to multiple platforms - redbubble, teepublic, Society6, zazzle, and Amazon . Not FAA.

You have to promote yourself no Matter in which marketplace you’re in… having organic traffic that comes to a website doesn’t mean you’ll get to see any of it coming your way … (same with redbubble, Etsy…)

What happens if you decide not to go on with the Fabrica subscription next year p. ex.? I think you have to delete your design, aren't you? Because you're really "hiring" their design. You can keep it if you buy it or get a lifetime subscription. Am I right?

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  3 года назад +2

Yup. That's why it's so cheap.
You can also just use the 90% sale they have now and buy POD items separately and have their licences full on without the subscription.
I think it's all about how much you see yourself using the platform and it's graphics. To me, paying that amount monthly for all of it's options is not such a big thing. And honestly ? People can use like 400 POD ready shirt designs with it, and even if they pay for 5 years it would still be cheaper than buying from designers.

@@MeyTribe @yeye99950 I've just checked the licence section of Creative Fabrica and, actually, the subscription license allows to "Keep selling products after you cancel your subscription. For example, you are allowed to keep selling existing "Quotes / Banners / Shirts / etc" that you created while you had an active subscription". But you CAN'T "Create new designs when you stop your subscription. For example: once you cancel your subscription, you are not allowed to create new "Quotes / Banners / Shirts / etc." and sell those items (this limitation does not apply for craft files. You can keep using craft files forever, even when making new designs)". So the conditions are really good!!!

@@MeyTribe No, basic. As for Full POD products, it is written that you can't "Keep selling Full POD files without modification after you end your subscription. When your subscription is ended you need to remove the Full POD files from all POD sites. If you use fonts, or make modifications to a design so it falls under Basic POD, this does not apply and you can keep selling after your subscription ends".
