I remember Alaska granny doing this. It’s a great idea, especially for people like me who struggle to be creative with food. This way I have a full meal in one sack and don’t just fall back on the same ole same ole

Just wanted to tell my online friends that you can buy a mushroom gravy packet, it has nice chunks of mushrooms when it rehydrated. Canned and fresh mushrooms can be expensive, this is my short cut!

I love your seasoning choices! If I could only pick 10, I would replace the seasoned salt and celery salt with paprika and red chili peppers. So many great meals here, Linda!!! I really want to try the potato soup, that just sounds so delicious! Thank you for the great ideas!!! Have a great night!❤

When I was in college, we had an electric pot to heat water for coffee. We would take a can of chicken, a can of green peas or corn, a brown gravy mix and get that going with water. When it came up to a boil, we would open and dump a package of success rice.
It was really tasty and filling. Sometimes, we would substitute tuna for the chicken.
Substituting coffee creamer for powdered milk will give it a creamier taste and doesn't use as much as the powder milk!

Thank you for the idea of substituting coffee creamer for milk! It will last longer too now I need to go get some plain creamer as mine is all vanilla flavor what ratio do you use of creamer to what the recipe calls for milk?

Great idea to add recipes to the bag labels. In a SHTF situation, folks will be stressed and minds may be cloudy. The recipe and ingredients make it easier for others to focus, follow directions and prepare the meal if the cook is sick, injured, or not available.

Linda I love your channel. By the Way Walmart and Target did a message that they are lowering their prices for a small time because they ordered too much, yeah right we know the real reason. So hoping we can get things a little cheaper before SHTF

That's exactly what Alaska granny did in a couple of her videos, came up with meals ideas and recipes using pantry items, stored in ziplock bags and then tuck them in five gallon buckets, she labeled each one "meals for bkfast, lunch and dinner", enough for a week in each bucket! Such great ideas! I love these preppers channels you learn so much about prepping and survival! God bless!

Thank you for sharing! I would add cinnamon to the spice bag, because there will be a time when you may want a quick dessert. In an SHTF, it may be comforting. You could serve it as a breakfast, too. I put dried berries, sweetener, cinnamon, dried milk, a bottle of water, and a biscuit mix in a bag for a quick cobbler. Also, one of my bag meals consists of a box of store brand or Stove Top stuffing mix, a can of chicken, a can of cream of celery soup, a packet or jar of chicken (or turkey) gravy, a can of green beans, and I always include a bottle of water, to prepare the stuffing, in case of SHTF. I would use the juice in the green beans as part of the water to mix up the stuffing. Press some stuffing mixture into bottom of pan or cast iron skillet. Cover with soup, chicken and green beans, crumble rest of mixture over that, then pour gravy over the top and bake for a chicken and stuffing casserole. You can use onion powder for your seasoning, and you can add some sage and pepper. I put some French fried onions in the bag for a crunchy topping, and more flavor! :)

Love this Linda! Thank you for the ideas! Never thought of some of these! YAY for new bagged ideas. I also do chicken spaghetti as one.. just another idea. Its a can of chunk chicken breast, 2 cans of cream mushroom soup, 1 can rotel (off is what i used), and 1 box of spaghetti noodles. Cook noodles- drain, add chicken cream mush and rotel (with the juice) salt and pepper and warm. You can eat it that way but for now I put colby jack cheese all over the top and bake but for SHTF you dont need the cheese unless you have it.

Love the idea! My hubs is a chef by trade so we have dozens upon dozens of different spices. I like all you said but not big on celery salt or seasoning salt….probably substitute that with creole seasoning like Tony C, and Oregano because we do a lot of Latin. I also bought dried chilis, several types, in bulk and vacuum seal them in bags with 3-4 each and just rotate through…adds great Smokey flavor and a bit of heat.

Good video. I am single and live alone.
I have 5 different flavors of bouillon. I can pick one and add other ingredients like dehydrated vegetables or canned meat or pasta or rice for a quick soup. I also have Ramen noodles if I feel like it. I got 48 of those 8 count chicken boullion cubes for cheap as a small part of that. One bouillon cube with 2 cups of water and whatever ingredients I decide makes a batch of soup.
I have 18 of those #10 cans which I planned to make just over 6 months of meals and I have been working toward 32 of those cans for a year of meals just for me.
I have lots of ingredients to work with so I thought that I would give you fair warning.
Spinach quiche - powder eggs and powdered milk and powdered cheese with dehydrated spinach flakes. I can combine the individual ingredients with water then gently mix it in a pie tin. And bake it.
Muffins - I have the Krusteaz basic muffin mix where I add water and dehydrated fruit to make muffins. It is also sold under another name.
Pancakes with honey syrup - I have lots of just add water pancake mix. I have honey powder to make syrup just in case I cannot get any at the store.
Sausages & hash browns - I have the smoked variety of Vienna sausages so that I can fry them up and have them with my hash browns
Cream of Wheat or oatmeal with toppings - I have an assortment of toppings for my hot cereals. I have cinnamon Sugar and a variety of jellies and dried fruit that I can rehydrate.
Biscuits and sausage gravy - I have the just add water biscuit mix and the country gravy with sausage.
Homemade hot pockets - I have pizza crust mix pouches and basic marinara sauce. I have powdered Italian cheese. I have pepperoni. I have lots of other ingredients to a variety. I can use the pizza crust mix to make pizza, pretzels and bread sticks and other things. I can use my Ghee and add garlic and herbs to make garlic bread.
I have 10 different pasta shapes. I have 12 different sauce options . I have 8 different dehydrated vegetables. I have 24 different shelf stable types of meat mostly in cans but a few are not. Over 400 are in cans but I also have jars and pouches. I have an assortment of spice and gravy powder envelopes. I also have a variety of rice options. I can pick a starch, and a meat and a sauce then add in vegetables to make a meal.
I have Knorr sides and Knorr SOPA. They were low cost and I can add a 5 ounce can of meat and rehydrated vegetables to make a higher calorie meal.
I can open and add a chunky soup to a casserole dish and add a little water. Then I make a biscuit mix pouch and use the dough to top the watery chunky soup I'm the casserole dish. The biscuits will bake on top while the soup get thick on the bottom. That is the country pot pie that grandma use to make.
I have been looking for recipes for dehydrated sliced potatoes. Because I have a few pounds of them stored.

    Crispy Orange Beef
Have a Chinese restaurant favorite at home, and better yet, planned as a meal in your food storage plan! This meal goes together really fast. By the time the rice is cooked, dinner is served!
2 can (12 oz) Roast Beef, drained (*my favorite brand is Kirkland)
    3 Tbs soy sauce
    6 Tbs cornstarch, sifted
    1/8 cup dried Orange Peel
¼ cup + 2 TBS orange juice (*see note)
    3 Tbs molasses
    1 Tbs rice vinegar
    1½ tsp sesame oil
    1½ cups vegetable oil
1 can (4 oz) green chilies
    ¼ tsp scant ginger
    ½ tsp scant garlic powder
    ½ tsp red pepper flakes
    1½ cups uncooked rice
3 cups water (for cooking rice)
1 Begin by combining the sauce ingredients (2 TBS soy sauce, molasses, orange juice and sesame oil) and set aside. Next, mix together the dry seasonings, set aside as well. Line a cookie tray with three layers of paper towel and set aside. In a separate pot, begin cooking the rice. Finally, sift the cornstarch.
2 Heat the oil over medium heat until the temperature reaches 375 degrees. Meanwhile, combine the beef with 1 TBS soy sauce and sifted cornstarch. Once the oil is ready, carefully add one-third of beef and fry, stirring occasionally to keep beef from sticking together, until golden brown, about 1 1/2 minutes. Using a metal slotted spoon, transfer meat to paper towel lined sheet. Return oil to 375 degrees and repeat with remaining beef. After frying, reserve 2 TBS frying oil.
3 Heat reserved oil in a 12 inch skillet over medium heat. Add green chilies and dry seasonings, stirring to combine. Add liquid sauce ingredients, stirring until slightly thickened, about 45 seconds. Add beef and toss. Serve immediately over cooked rice.
4 Begin by measuring the wet and dry ingredients (separately) and setting aside. Prepare a cookie tray lined with paper towel, sift the cornstarch and begin heating the oil.
5 In heating the oil, I like to use a small length of aluminum foil over the top of my pot (to guard from splattering), allowing space for the thermometer.
6 Combine the drained beef with 1 TBS soy sauce and the cornstarch.
7 When the oil reaches 375 degrees, carefully add beef and fry, working in one-third batches of meat. Stir (while frying) to keep the beef from sticking together, for about a minute and a half until the beef is crisp and browned. Transfer to the paper towel lined baking sheet to drain. Repeat with remaining beef. Reserve 2 TBS frying oil.
8 In a 12 inch skillet over medium heat, combine reserved oil and green chilies. Add in the dry seasonings followed by the sauce ingredients. Add the beef and gently stir.
9 Serve immediately with cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds.
    10 Notes:
11 ◦In this recipe I’ve used canned orange juice that I buy as a 6 pack of 6 oz. cans. The recipe only calls for about half of one can but for a more orange flavor, you could opt to use the entire can. Using less liquid will keep the beef “crispier”.
12 ◦If green onions are on hand, add 2 (sliced on a thin bias) into the sauce.
13 ◦I categorized this recipe as a pantry meal for how simple and fast it is to make even though half of the ingredients (for the sauce) are more easily pulled off the shelf and measured when making the meal.
14 ◦My 11 year old daughter is telling me I need to let you know ahead of time that it’s a little spicy (PS- it’s not really that spicy). Turn down the spice if you prefer.

These are all good! I like doing this with my homemade stew and chili ingredients too. It saves time looking for stuff. 😷💚🥫💧
