Let’s all watch a few of her videos and let the commercials run so she can replenish what she just lovingly shared with us!!
I enjoy your content, but don't be bullied into using up what you set aside for your family to satisfy us virtual friends. ❤️
Absolutely. We all “pretend played” as kids. Just hold up a can and act like you are using it. LOL. We will get it. We can read your instructions from the note cards inside the bag. These are great meals. Please don’t feel obligated to use your emergency supplies. It would break my heart if you were in a situation and needed the things you used to show us. ✌🏼❤️
Absolutely! I would fix one MAX. If people can't understand that they are LITERALLY emergency food then that's a them problem.
I just enjoy watching the kids taste test the food. Reactions are Priceless.
Aloha from Hawaii🌈🍍
I definitely wouldn’t consider actually using them up right now when you never know what’s gonna be out of stock on the shelves tomorrow
We appreciate you..... these are great
Your children always seem so appreciative of the food that you fix for them which is good to see. A lot of kids take so much for granted and don't appreciate what they are given.
Seems to me if someone is concerned about fruits and veggies, one could add a can of veggies and a can of fruit to their meal kit-- hence, problem solved! AND there are low sodium canned goods that one could swap out if someone is concerned. LOVE these emergency meal kits-- they are so smart and could really help so many if the need arises. Best to be prepared than running around like a chicken with your head cut-off if an emergency comes your way. Thank you, Brooke, for helping out so many. You and your lovely family are a true treasure.
Good girl calling out the haters. May they never be in a situation like this.
I have found that many that criticize the ingredients from cans for emergency have never been in a situation that shelf stable is only option. Appreciate the video great ideas to add to my stash. Have a great day!!!
I think the kits would be great in an emergency when the person that mainly cooks can’t. Makes it easy for others to have all the ingredients together. Good job!
No, after Hurricane Ian we didnt care what we ate 😂🎉 if anyone brought us anything, we ate it because we had no power or water! 🎉 FEMA saved our lives. They gave us water and packaged foods and sandwiches and K rations, etc. We were grateful for anything. 🎉 in an Emergency, it is just important to stay alive! 🎉😊
This is a great video. Feeding everyone is important! 🎉
I think everything looked delicious! I had a thought 🤔- I'm originally from Florida and during hurricane time we had a standard rule - if we are hit & lose power the first thing you eat is the ice 🍨 cream - lol! But also in any emergency & your freezer items are at risk you can add maybe the frozen broccoli in the broccoli casserole! Add your frozen meat in too!
Thank you so much for all your videos!
I absolutely love these. The first time I have ever heard about these kits was from your video not so long ago. I am now working on making these for our pantry. I wish I had known about them 2 years ago, we just went through a horrible time with our finances due to losing jobs because of COVID and we ended up having to use a local charity for food. I wish I was more prepared than I was. Now I am determined to never have such a struggle to feed my family like we just went through ever again. I am preparing these because not are they only perfect for tough times, but for short term emergencies as well. Groceries are outrageously priced right now and when you are going through a tough time, knowing you can save money that you would use on groceries and use it for other bills, is a huge stress release. I hope you know how much I appreciate your videos and just how much it has helped me and will continue to help me as we get back on our feet and to build our pantry. You are truly a blessing
I saw at Wal-Mart a disposable casserole pans for fire pits or burns. They were thick package in 4. Thought that could be helpful. Thanks for all these ideas. I live in Texas in hurricane area and keep a good box. 5 years ago a storm came through and it took my whole town. It was what they called a 100 year should of never happened. Just glad my family got out alive. Great video. Love your channel.
Everyone say a special happy birthday to my wonderful neice Brooke today Aug, 19. I love you girl.
Thank you, love you!!
I love to watch You, Brooke. You are soooo WONDERFUL!!! Thank You for sharing these with Us. People should understand that in an EMERGENCY THESE ARE AWESOME MEALS WHEN YOU MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PRODUCTS AT YOUR LOCAL GROCERY STORE, Walmart or Dollar Tree. If they complain about Your using prefab, as freezedried and / or canned foods for an Emergency Situation; Then They will be unprepared!!! This recipes looked and sounded good. I know People at Your Home would feel SERIOUSLY BLESSED WITH SUCH ABUNDANT MEALS. Thank You again, Brooke for sharing Your talents with Us again. I love You and Your Family.
GOD BLESS BROOKE, DUSTY, AND THEIR BEAUTIFUL AND HANDSOME SONS. Amen.
✝️🙏🏽❤️💕😊💕👋🏼
I love your idea of putting them in baggies. I’m going to try this and I think it would make it easier for rotating them because you’d have your baggie tell you want to replenish. Smart lady, Miss Brooke!
You can have veggies in your emergency kit. I use dehydrated vegetables from Harmony House. You can get garlic, onions, red and green peppers, diced and sliced potatoes, cabbage, green beans, carrots, celery and more. Great for emergencies, but I use them to make quick soups and stews with no waste or chopping time.
I love these kits! I hope what people take away from this is that these kits can be tailored to individual budgets and needs. Can't have too much sodium? Just try and get lower sodium choices. Want more veggies? Add them. I have a daughter who's a Type 1 diabetic and we get the no-sugar-added fruits for the pantry. If you can afford to add canned meats like roast beef and pork (yes, there are cans of them. There's even pouches now!), then by all means do it. I would hope that people understand these are great either as they are or as a guide or inspiration for their own meal kits. Thank you for sharing!
Only use your emergency stash in videos if they need used. Use the ones close to date, the ones you’d need to replenish anyways. That way they don’t go to waste, you rotate your stash, and you show how to make them. ❤️
So appreciative that you would break into your stash for us!! 🥰
For the broccoli cheese casserole maybe you could use a bag of the Bear Creek Cheddar Broccoli soup and just add the rice and maybe not as much water. I think I might try it that way just to experiment. Your recipe looked great. More videos like this please!!
I just wanted to say thank you for this video and thank you for breaking into your stash of meal kits for us. You truly are an inspiration and a reminder that I need to be profoundly grateful.
I can’t do it financially right now but as soon as I have the money set aside, rather than a 💲💲 donation to my local food bank, I am going to take this list to the grocery store and I’m going to buy the ingredients and donate them as “kits”.
❤️🤟❤️🤟
Yay! I got 30 minutes before Homeschool starts what a great way to start the day a new video 😊 ❤️
I’ve been keeping a well stocked pantry and freezer since the 80’s. Eve😅in the neighborhood said should anything ever happen they are coming to our house lol. We also keep plenty of propane. The only thing is you have to rotate the food out because it expires. I stick mine like a grocery store, new in back oldest in front. Thanks for the wonderful ideas about prepackaging in storage bags and totes. Great tip for if you need to leave your house in a hurry!! Bravo to you 😊
Great ideas, going to use the canned chicken, canned mixed veggies, cream of mushroom and the Jiffy biscuit mix to make a chicken pot pie. Thanks for sharing.
I love this! I live in Florida near the coast so I need to start making these emergency food kits for hurricane season. Sometimes we can be without electricity for days!
Brooke, I can't tell you how much I'm loving your channel. I only found you about 2 months ago, but I'm obsessed and going thru all the older ones, too!
God love you girl! Let them people Google how to make it and you save your supplies. Life is so unpredictable these days and you don’t know when you gonna need it. Bless ‘em
These emergency meal kits are amazing and well thought out. Gonna make some for my granddaughter so I won't worry so much.
You are fantastic! Don't let anyone discourage you. I thank you.
Don’t use your butane. We can get the idea on a one burner stove🥰
Love your quick response to everyone telling you how to cook 🤣 This is an emergency situation people 😂 everything looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Brooke--cooking in SHTF, I bought a 'rocket' stove, it burns anything while sitting in a cheap, Round bbq pit. ==1 'burner', but that's fine with a pan or a pot.
[That rocket stove is also good for getting charcoal into a steady burn, pull the stove away & coals fall to cover Dutch oven, etc. Will slow cook stuff that essentially only needs to rehydrate and soften. Flavors to meld.]
Actually cooking. REMINDERS!!
•Rice, pasta, oatmeal can presoak and SHORTEN the cook time. Saves fuel.
•liquids from canned veg & meat are edible, add flavor to the food. Save your 💧 💧 for 🚰.
•liquids from canned fruit are good for flavoring drinking water/tea for children, for oatmeal.
Butane is seems to always be available at the Asian stores near me.
I love your videos and appreciate what you are trying to do for your audience. Yes it is always better to prepare food from scratch with fresh or frozen ingredients but in true emergency situations sometimes you have to feed your family with shelf stable foods. It’s just a temporary fix for difficult situations. Again ty for showing people what to have on hand and how to use them. Great video
those meals look really good. I need to put some meal kits like that together every night when I have to decide what to make for dinner turns into an emergency l0l
A great video Brooke ! You never disappoint any of us here in RUclips land !! Bless his heart he loved that🥦🥦 casserole !! I'm so glad you share these emergency meals. I think we all are learning alot of tips from you...great tips. So many are struggling these day's w food on the table. I had a friend share that it is getting hard for them to put food on the table. Let's all pray 🙏 for everybody's grocery budget and that everyone has food on there table daily. ❤
I love how much your boys appreciate the meals that you make ❤️
We just moved to Marianna, Fl in time for Hurricane Michael. This idea is fantastic.
Don’t let complainers change you as you are awesome 🎉
Great emergency meals Brooke and it’s important that you go out of your way to make them as delicious as possible like you do, because when we’re in an emergency it’s important to have some comfort coming from somewhere and food is usually comforting to the tummy and the soul! Brooke I don’t know if you’ve ever done this but when I’m using canned chicken I use the water it’s packed in as part of the liquid in the recipe it adds more flavor and cuts down on the amount of other liquids you have to use! It’s just something I do when using canned chicken and canned tuna packed in water to stretch the flavor through out the food more! I love all your great meals you show us ! Thank you so much for all you do to bring us different ideas to stretch a dollar! 👍🙏
Awww Brooke, I had to pause your video at 3 & 1/2 minutes to quickly say I truly wish I was allowed to send you some Butane gas tins….here in Australia they are in plentiful supply atm. I talked hubby into buying a whole box (28) a month ago “just in case”. I’m not a person who preps long term, but could easily feed hubby & I for 2 months with what we have on hand, if needed. Because we live in a warmer area, we use our bbq & webber outdoors a lot.
Now I’ll get back to watching the rest 😅😘 You are such a wonderful sweet girl for getting out of your comfort zone & doing this for your subscribers 🙏🏻😍
I love how real you are. I can really relate to you and your lifestyle.
Brooke, show them how to cook when the power is out. My neighbors needed help when this happened . You have a grill a camp stove and a fire pit. And there was some people that didn’t have that. Open a can of food and eat, is what I told them. Ask a neighbor if you can use their grill. Just a thought. Love watching you .
Word of advise, make sure if you are in an emergency situation where there is no electricity, gas or water, you want foods that only need heating and not actual cooking. You will blow through butane, wood, charcoal, etc. Real fast. Just speaking from experience.
When my daughter was little we lived in a very rual area. We had a bad ice storm. Electricity was out for 3+ weeks in areas. We cooked using candles. Then after a neighbor came to check on us, he got the ice off around the back door enough so we could get it open, yes the ice was that thick! We cooked on our grill. We stayed very warm by and sometimes it got to hot in our blanket tent. Lol. It was fun. Lol
I truly appreciate these videos, we are headed for HARD times and these will come in CLUTCH.. thank you
Great meal options for the emergency meals. I never thought about packaging specific meal ingredients in bags, gonna have to steal it lol
Hi this is Sue, all l am saying is,,,,,,
Wow what a fantastic idea you have doing up these emergency dinners, my brain went to yes, have to do some up, and secondly, camping in the trailer, instead of take so much food with us and having to bring it home again, what isn't eaten, this is fantastic pre planned dinners. PS love all the Pioneer Woman stuff. FYI,, if you have dehydrated veggies, you can put some in a baggy and use them for extra veggies,
I'm thinking canned chunked ham or shelf stable bacon pieces would be super tasty in the hashbrown casserole if you didn't have canned chicken
You're too nice for people to be mean to I like you and I like your show
You've found your God-given talent!! Thank you!! Don't hate me. Extra pepper =sawmill gravy from back in the day. Im talking way back in the day. I'm old, I be closer to dead. Shoot.
Mmm that chicken cornbread casserole looked so yummy!!
When we are at our off grid cabin I often use my grill as an oven and bake, I’m sure it would work with any casserole. I use it bake scalloped potatoes, Great meals, I have to go find where you made up these meals. I just started my meal kits for fall and winter at the cabin.
These look really tasty for emergency situations! They look good for every day fast cooking too. Thank you!
In my emergency kit I have a bag of assorted spices. Garlic salt, powder; Onion salt, powder; chili powder; ground ginger ect. I find it very helpful.
Its good to rotate them out one at a time to keep everything fresh
As a viewer from Kentucky...Amen sister!
You could use French fried onions in the Broccoli Casserole.
These are for emergency meals
@@elainenicholls7648 I know she said she can't use real onions because it's not shelf stable.. French fried onions are dehydrated after frying and shelf stable.
Or dehydrated. I dehydrated a bag of onions. Do it outside on a porch or garage.
Yeah🙌 TFS meal kits! I'm Soooooo excited. I look for these ideas all the time. Ty.
What is TFS?
Just like the rest of the food in the pantry, you eventually have to use it and then replace it to keep the rotation going. I've got some #10 cans of freeze dried foods I'm going to use to make meals in a jar, so I can be sure to use them. Better to have a planned meal with your supplies than opening a big can and then trying to figure out what to do with it.
Brayden was loving that meal
" calm down veggie po-po" 😂😂 Your so funny Brooke!
I think it might be fun to see you compare the emergency meal kit versus the homemade
I have started making up meal kits for freezer meals and am calling them grab and go meals because my husband and I will only eat like 1 burger each and then I have to find everything in the freezer to go with it, like the fries and then the buns (yes, I freeze my breads) and so rather than digging around for everything, I am just putting it all together in a zip lock bag and when I want burgers, I can just grab that bag. I have done this with our Asian meals and the homemade pizza subs that I make too. This has been making things so convenient and I hope this idea can help someone else on here. I am hoping that this will stop our wanting to eat out as much too.
I finally started the $5 pantry this week. Thank You so much 😊
You can buy shelf stable canned meats, don’t forget about them
Cousin Brooke, just re-watched this video. Love the recipes, I ðid think that on the green beans , potatoes, gravy and biscuits, I know my guys will love. I'm changing one thing. You said drain the can of chicken ,I goings to put the chicken broth/ liquid in with my gravy mix to give it a more chicken flavor and use less water. I hate throw/ drain good flavor down my sink ,I do like to use it whenever I can. So thank you for all these wonderful recipes. My guys love the rice with cream soups. God bless you and your family ❤🙏
U r giving me some good ideas as my husband says we always seem to buy the same stuff which I said I think most families do.
Thanks, Brooke! When having mashed potatoes or white gravy, the more "Brooke" the better. Loved seeing the meals cooked. Adding things to my grocery list!
Power is out ... use up what will spoil first ... we usually resort to camp fire cooking even though we have a gas stove.... using the fire ring and / or the BBQ grill EVEN IN WINTER ....soups and stew are usually easiest as they require less fuel .... I also recommend having water set aside cause water pumps do not work when there is no electricity ... Your ER packs would be the last thing to be used.
This was so great! It really inspired me to start an emergency bin! Thank you.
well, now I'll have to buy double. one for emergency and one for NOW!!! watching you son eat made me crave them even more. They all looked delicious! 😊
Maybe you can check the best by/expire dates and use the ones that are getting close to the dates.
Also, I looovvvvve when u show us your preparing for emergencies meal kits!! And cooking instructions 😋
If you dehydrate your broccoli and onions, they are indeed shelf stable.
All of the meals looked TASTY!😋😋
You could also swap the ranch beans with a can or 2 of chili bc that has meat already in it
Just an idea, for protein you could look into TVP or other freeze dried soy protein chunks....those last centuries and only need rehyrating. ANd are a complete protein!
I love my “Sally “
Hey girlie 💜 so I made your Cowboy supper and I didn’t have ranch beans so I used what I had which was red kidney beans, it was amazing and it made enough for leftovers for lunch the next day! I absolutely love your ideas!! I think I’m EXTRA in love with your channel 😉♥️
I love all your recipes, I'm going to write these down in my spiral book of recipes
A video doing 4 more would be fun. To be able to see them all. I'm a new subbie. I'll scroll through some of your videos to see if there a video making these up. Great idea for oooh... What are we gonna have for dinner. That's an emergency for me 😆. TFS🤗
Thank you for sharing from your emergency meals, they looked amazing. Let’s hope we don’t have to use them to soon. Love watching you so many fantastic ideas.❤️🌷
If I can get by with one pot, I do the same thing with my pasta...I hate having a bunch of dishes to wash!
Thanks So much you always help me make dinner that night
I want to let you know that I am thankful for your videos. I had a couple of thoughts while watching your video. One you could have taken any pasta water you had left and used in the hash brown casserole or any dish that called for water. Also you could save the juice from the canned vegetables as well. In emergencies you don’t know how much water you may have available.
Just a thought from an old lady that grew up on well water. Your boys are great.
I would do that in an emergency where I had no water. Good idea
Have you seen the canned meats at walmart lately? There is canned pulled pork, turkey, ground beef, beef (like pot roast), etc. Also you can get canned chili with no beans for tex/mex style meals.
My Walmart is always bare shelves in that section. I usually just see tuna, chicken, pouches of pulled pork, and potted meat. I'm not sure the shelf life on pouches. I think I might Look into that. Pouches would be easy if you can't find a can opener.
Thank you for your awesome videos! I love the idea of bagging the items together for a specific recipe. Im going to do that in my pantry too, sometimes i look in the pantry and dont "see" what goes together.
They are so helpful! I'm making notes to buy some of these just to try the recipes.
Brook…. I can tell by the look on your face that this is hurting your soul to use these! Oh my stars. You are the sweetest!!
Good morning Bestie!
I’ve been catching up on all of your older videos. You have a lovely family and great stock up and emergency tips.
I think a can of mixed vegetables would work well too instead of just green beans. Also, maybe you could not drain the chicken and use the liquid instead of as much water. Just saying that it might give the dish even more flavor although it seems by your son's reaction that it's great as is!
You do a great job on your training classes! Thanks for sharing!
I would hope that no one would smirk or scoff at any of these meals. Thank you Brooke for showing us! Maybe show us as they are expiring and HAVE to be used up?! Love u n urs!!
Good idea! And shewy, you'd be surprised lol I usually delete mean comments as I see thme lol Nobody needs negativity in their life. lol!
You could add some Durkee fried onions in place of fresh for any casserole. Thanks for the ideas, love it!! Gonna start building up my emergency kit
Thank you so much showing us and making the emergency meals! I really enjoyed it and appreciate it!
Veggie Po po... 🤣 you're hilarious lady! Love the channel, keep up the great work. Always great entertainment 🤪👍
If you didn’t add the taco seasoning and just used a little tomato sauce or paste, garlic & rosemary and some liquid so that it’s a soup, you’d have pasta e fagioli, a rustic Italian pasta and bean soup.
Great video! I would go ahead and fill the hash brown boxes with water and rehydrate them to reduce the amount of baking time. Love Sally, she's beautimous!
I love in Pennsylvania and can't find ranch style beans any where I have to travel an hour to Ohio to the Kroger to buy them ...I just made a special trip to buy 30 cans
You are amazing!!! I can’t cook to save my life. I’m taking notes❤
The first meal, I would add a can of ham from Walmart or bacon bits. The 3rd meal you could use dry minced onion. The broccoli cheese meal, bacon bits. I know it adds to the budget but it could change the meals so you could repeat them.
A little alcohol on a paper towel, cotton ball or cotton wipe will also take permanent marker off of plastic.
