And the guy strapped to the chair died differently, and seeing eye dogs wouldn't work because the dog would go crazy too, Tom looked different, he had a dog, they go out either more than once or there's a bit where Mallory and the dog are alone, they changed a lot from the book tbh

this movie hurts because you can tell she loves the kids so much, she just wants them to be safe. she was already so scared of being a mother and it doesnt help that this apocalyptic shit began happening. she calls them boy and girl because she didnt want to get attached knowing that everyone she got attached to ended up dead, but when she tells them that one has to look, she realized that she couldn't go through with it because she loved them both. she wouldve rather they all die instead of lose either one of them and as selfish as that may seem, she just couldn't lose anyone else.
I always thought that she never gave them names cus she was so focused on keeping everyone alive rather family stuff, just like how they don't call her mom but by her actual name. It's straightforward

Hey just as some context, the author of the book said that your almost compelled to look at the monster, like it's an innate response which is why the prophets go crazy and need to make everyone to look. So that's the reason Tom turned around even though he knew the signs like the leaves rustling.

It's just hilarious how the boy boldly volunteered twice. and both times, Sandy vehemently protested. But when the girl meekly says "I'll do it", Sandy's doesn't say shit, and let's her cry, thinking she'll actually have to do it. XD
Remy Mafia cause she never cared as much for girl as she did for boy, since it wasn’t her own child. But in the forest when they all get separated she realizes that she loves girl just as much and finally calls them her children and apologizes to girl.

I personally think once you hear the sound of leaves rustling you lose a lot of self-restraint and it’s okay to turn to the direction of the sound when blindfolded, but you wouldn’t do that because you can’t see. At the end of the film they actually were in a bird box. A small place with a shit load of birds. It was a bittersweet ending as the problem was not resolved , more so a moment of peace. The novels ending was darker. Still enjoyed the film. I liked that we did not see the monster and that the problem was not truly resolved. Seems believable.

I literally saw the whole movie, but have seen it before. And, it was really good. You should watch the whole movie without Dylan, just to see the movie.
The ending in the book was MUCH darker (and better lmao). BOOK SPOILERS AHEAD: So, in the movie, obviously they find the sanctuary and its a school for the blind and everyone lives happily ever after in their little community. Seems way too happy for such a dark plot. WELL, in the book, they find the sanctuary and everyone is blind, EXCEPT they did it to themselves. All the people CHOSE to blind themselves so that they wouldn't be able to see the monster. When you really think about it, that's pretty fucked up. These people were so devoid of any hope for the future and they were so desperate to survive that they consciously chose to permanently remove their eyesight. That also means, upon their arrival, Malorie and her 2 children were purposely blinded as well.
They also cut scenes from the movie where she thought about blinding her son to keep him safe, and where she was going to blind herself at the end to escape the monster outside the school.
I honestly thought that once they got to the blind sanctuary that Malerie and the kids would have to make themselves lose their sight in order to “fit in” and when I realized that wasn’t the case I was thinking to myself damn I have a dark mind 😂😂 but it’s cool knowing that the book ends the way I expected the movie to end

It's just hilarious how the boy boldly volunteered twice. and both times, Sandy vehemently protested. But when the girl meekly says "I'll do it", Sandy's doesn't say shit, and let's her cry, thinking she'll actually have to do it. XD
Remy Mafia cause she never cared as much for girl as she did for boy, since it wasn’t her own child. But in the forest when they all get separated she realizes that she loves girl just as much and finally calls them her children and apologizes to girl.

That's part of why I found it weird that the guy sacrificed himself to leave her with the kids. Also because she was showing off her weapons skills in the beginning. So I thought that would turn into something. But nope. They missed their opportunity. Like just because she was a woman, the dude had to sacrifice himself, and she she had to be with the kids, even though he loved them more, and she was skilled with weapons. So she had as much of a chance of surviving the horde. It was a weird, non-progressive decision.

Charlie’s death made me so sad for some reason even though we didn’t get to know him that well
He was a likeable guy and the comedic relief. He also sacrificed himself when before he seemed like a coward. I teared up a little because I wanted him to survive
It made me mad because he could have done so many things, including ramming the cart with the birds into the guy, rather than slam himself into him. Charlie could have lived but used to the move that killed him
I also got really upset
He was a really sweet and funny guy. I immediately liked him

I personally think once you hear the sound of leaves rustling you lose a lot of self-restraint and it’s okay to turn to the direction of the sound when blindfolded, but you wouldn’t do that because you can’t see. Without the blindfold, I presume the temptation is harder to resist. I mean broo you hear something it’s your natural reflex to look towards the direction of the sound

At the end of the film they actually were in a bird box. A small place with a shit load of birds. It was a bittersweet ending as the problem was not resolved , more so a moment of peace. The novels ending was darker. Still enjoyed the film. I liked that we did not see the monster and that the problem was not truly resolved. Seems believable.

The ending in the book was MUCH darker (and better lmao). BOOK SPOILERS AHEAD:
So, in the movie, obviously they find the sanctuary and its a school for the blind and everyone lives happily ever after in their little community. Seems way too happy for such a dark plot. WELL, in the book, they find the sanctuary and everyone is blind, EXCEPT they did it to themselves. All the people CHOSE to blind themselves so that they wouldn't be able to see the monster. When you really think about it, that's pretty fucked up. These people were so devoid of any hope for the future and they were so desperate to survive that they consciously chose to permanently remove their eyesight. That also means, upon their arrival, Malorie and her 2 children were purposely blinded as well.
Tbh that was what I was thinking, throughout the movie. Why not blind yourself?
They also cut scenes from the movie where she thought about blinding her son to keep him safe, and where she was going to blind herself at the end to escape the monster outside the school.
It's not messed up though. U could still be pretty fulfilled being blind rather than being dead imo
I honestly thought that once they got to the blind sanctuary that Malerie and the kids would have to make themselves lose their sight in order to “fit in” and when I realized that wasn’t the case I was thinking to myself damn I have a dark mind 😂😂 but it’s cool knowing that the book ends the way I expected the movie to end
