"My dad is dead so we don't have to worry about running into him" - Player Optimism
Just then…. lol
I understand someone bringing it up, like that's reasonable, they're talking about family, but the casual manner he brings it up is just... whiplash
Sometimes I forget that Fritz was raised by sailors and then they throw me off by saying the most aggressive stuff.
It's like when you see a very cutesy girl, wearing white and pink, and then you speak to her and she says the most heinous things ever and swears every other word.
Totally not a first hand experience.
Ya know, considering The Blot tends to appear during rainstorms, and Call Lightning becomes stronger during a storm, Call Lightning is actually an amazing anti-Blot spell in common Blot cases.
I mean it’s not like The Pilgrims of Saccia are dealing with common Blot cases, but it otherwise would’ve been very helpful.
now we're cooking

oh sweet! Two episodes in such a short amount of time? Joe, you spoil us!
Just had a random thought
What if La Destructora (misspelled that probably) is the final dragon and the parties' interactions with them was their trial
A fair assessment, but given that the other dragons all seem to remain in their own locale, not the only option.
My guess? She's the niece of Saccia's dragon, and his designated successor. That's why she's following the pilgrims: both to make sure they get their quest done safely, and to meet the other dragons.
Edit: rewatched the first episode, and the niece is one of the contestants, apparently. Could be that he has another niece he's talking about, but I'm still wagering a successor. And her heart will be something related to her dog. That's the thing, you see: story-wise, each dragon has something they're emotionally connected to for their heart. La Distructora is presented with an obvious connection. So yeah, definitely a dragon, though, curious to see which one.
That would be SO cool
I love the Blot as an enemy. Excited to learn more about this mysterious malevolent monstrosity!
"meet us there we will set fire to every thing" -Wurd.. yeah it is firmly cemented in my mind.. Wurd is my kinda Boss!
Buck having beef with a kid is the best thing I've seen in a while lol
I love that you canonized bridge trolls
This group is so casual I am learning a lot of new slang.
You are fantastic at storytelling jo
Astrapio maybe a father but he did not raise Fritz; Dozin did. Dozin is Fritz's dad.
to quote yondu in guardians of the galaxy vol. 2 “he may have been your father but he wasnt your daddy”
Here is what I'm worried about, Astrapio said he left Fritz with Dozen but Fritz said that Dozen found her and calls her Fritz. What this means to me is Dozen could have hidden things from Fritz including the name her parents gave her form currently unknown reasons, abandoning your child and leaving them with someone you trust are two very different things.
My concern is that fact Astrapio is the one who came for the duchess and seems to be pretty high ranking so it is possible there was something like a kidnapping attempt when she was very young and so she was left with Dozen. I could see something like the Underthrone Society trying to use her to get Astrapio to do what they want and it may have cost the life of Fritz's mom. But we'll see.
By the way, it's Dozin. Nevertheless, a father leaving his child to someone and not even coming to check in, is simply neglect and I don't respect him so far. If he abandoned her, don't need to say much more, he's a deadbeat. But if he left her to Dozin, and not even coming back once in a while to see her, that's just a dick move. He clearly does not care much. No matter how busy you may be, going to see your child even once a year should be common sense.
Tl;dr Screw Fritz's dad.
I wonder what would have happened with the bridge and elf encounters if they didn't have the lamp of true sight. The elf stealing one of the tokens could've caused some major issues!
I like to imagine that while Laira is shifted and wildshaped into a Panther, she has an extra set of legs like a Displacer Beast to explain why she’s faster.
Also btw, racial and other features transfer to Wildshape if they can biologically work, like Breath Weapons (magic but could be argued otherwise) and Shifting (also magic) and Pack Tactics (skill based), as well as feats like Mobile (training) and Sentinel (also training). However things like Darkvision and Flight and Spells, which rely on certain biological features, don’t, unless the new form can account for it. So if Laira normally had wings, she wouldn’t keep that speed as a panther, but she could use that speed if she Wildshaped into an eagle.
I doubt Jo and the crew are reading this, but I just thought I’d support Jo’s ruling a bit, cause it’s cool.
(i'm about 5 mins in) I'm just imagining the fritz saying something like "You've got a lotta nerve being alive"
I know it's been said, but I love that Wurd is literally just a gangster... it's so good.
Also, the fey boy saying, "Hey Listen!" is such a good unintended joke. Thanks for catching that Red.
i always forget that wurd isn't the dumb character trope his deduction reasoning is sometime genius and surprising because i usually expect laira to be the smart one of the group
They really went "You jumped onto the wrong cart, fey!" on that kid, huh?
Yay, love this series!
The drama continues!!
I'm loving this episode!!! Great watch while I'm on break!
Fritz, did your dad just name you something awfully close to Failing? That's a red flag right there if you ask me lmao
I hope it's like faeling or something like that XD
Been sick and home from work. This could not have come at a better time.
Another glorious episode gone with the wind
The quality is amazing as always youre great
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Freaking love where this game is headed 🙌
Thank you editor
I just had a thought.. are the hearts the same object every time? If so, do the adventurers need to return the hearts back to the dragons? Or is it a magical Witch trade when they revive the tree? The stronger the emotional attachment to the heart the more power it gives off…
I love the story
Intriguing episode, gotta say. Spoilers and speculation below.
First off: good on Buck for using his noggin. That card thing was smart, and in character, and it made for good story progression. Nice to see a barbarian with a good head on his shoulders. I also appreciated the maybe not as commonly known reference to 13th Warrior, assuming that's what it was around 01:53:06. Lots of fun shout-outs in this one. Can't say I'm a fan of the fae boy, though I did get a chuckle out of the implication that he's gay ("Guys like it"), considering 'faerie' is a slang term as well. Characters that show open disrespect in general just kind of irk me, but that's a personal thing. The Fritz conflict with her biological father ruffled the same feathers.
But we get two pay-offs for the reward of last session, that's fun to see. The idea that trolls just manage bridges as a day job is a fun one, and something that adds a bit of realism or internal logic to the faerie tale aspects of the world. Seeing Olivia be strong and capable is nice, too, for the same reason: it makes sense that people whose job includes being alone on a chokepoint are able to defend themselves.
The tin-foil hat came on after her encounter, though. Olivia hired an arcanist to check for magic. Said arcanist didn't detect the blot, but also didn't detect the invisibility magic? I wonder if the person she hired was another scammer or hustler from Trevasetta, or aligned with the undisturbed elf-managed bridge up North she mentioned. We already know they're willing to resort to such tactics. There's also the contrast between the two Blot encounters. One seemed like a random thing targeting a civilian, the other was a targeted attack against the pilgrims.
My theory: the Blot is being manipulated and targeted towards certain people, as part of a nation-wide protection racket. We've foreshadowed already with the weather witch that you can control the Blot to some extent, and this was established early. That's one way to do such foreshadowing without revealing your big bad too early. But the Blot attacks targetting the pilgrims specifically, the ones with a humanoid, were of the Blot's own volition. The question "Do you have a master" can be interpreted to be for this one individual, not the Blot as a group. There's also the connotation that a master and a tormentor are different. "We were here before" could mean the Blot is ancient, but it can also mean "We've been in this situation before, we know what needs to be done." If this interpretation is correct, the Blot wants the hearts to free itself, while the bad guy wants the hearts to gain more power and dominion over Elynthi. But chances are, neither one should have the hearts.
Hi Jocat! I don't think you saw the other message I had on this DnD series so I will ask again. I know it will likely not be answered again but here's to hoping COPIUM.
What is Elynthi's Stance on Necromancy?
Since Necromancy was such a big thing in Belkinus for so long other countries in the Lustrous Expanse must have some kind of stance on it given the relative power of Belkinus on the continent.
Again, this doesn't need to be answered or even seen, this is just a way to give the Lustrous Expanse more life to it in my eyes and its fun to theorise :)
Necromancy seems to have only been a big issue in belkinis because of the previous viscount
@@VeenanNorvius yeah but the lore specifically states that necromancy had been a problem in belkinus for about 100 years and people in belkinus had been hating necromancers for a long time.
And looking at the map of the lustrous expanse from the golden cay campaign, belkinus sits right in the middle of the lustrous expanse where people would be moving across whether for travel or trade or whatever.
So when sth has been a problem in country with a central location for that long it would naturally influence the nations around it to have a stance on it.
Like for example today in the EU if France or Germany says sth other countries in the EU have to take that into consideration or Nigeria on ECOWAS due to their size and influence.
So belkinus should at least be able to influence foreign policy stances on necromancy due to its central location and relative size in the lustrous expanse.
but its highly likely that it only very recently became a big issue thanks to the Spine of Death. and seeing as kara only needed to go right outside of belkinus to be safe, other places its not as big a deal

"We.... was kangz..."
16:33 EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
I didn't get that one, if you could explain it to me I'd be grateful.
Finally caught up with the episodes
Can't spell "feather" without "father"
Featherless behavior
@@xryeau_1760
I mean, Fritz has at least 12 feathers... We know they have a Dozin.
@@My_initials_are_O.G.cuz_I_am that joke hurt but clever wordplay nonetheless
i love this comment section thread
Was that sassy lost child comment a one punch man reference? Bc god I hope so I cracked up when fritz said that
I love this.
Do you want to keep your wings shivers
She seems to have an invisible blot, yeah!
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of the trunk!
Am I the only one who finds Liam Totally-My-Real-Name Villalba genuinely adorable? I love a good impish trickster character. Hope to see what his mischief weaponized in service of a noble cause can accomplish!
It’s four am I need slee
The Blot reminds me of the Voidborn from Divinity Original Sin 2
Just got the Goblin Plushie 2.0 yesterday!
Let’s go
Buckbear. You're welcome.
JOCAT HELP IM SLOWLY CATCHING UP
Okay, getting some serious Nier vibes, now!
that fey has such a puck aura, that when i saw him i was thinking, where the F*** is guts ?
Please sir Jo and sir Tavern, or sir Cat and sir Cat, may we have some public released of the campaign OSTs?
I REALLY hope that La Destructora is the BBEG
Hey jocat
What site/software do you use to make your maps
This episode has convinced me that Wurd and Laira solo 💪💪💪 (or is it duo? 🤔)
UGH!!! Rewatching this, Fritz’s attitude towards her father is so disgusting. It seems as if she’s not interested in this plot line, like she’s entirely against the idea of what’s going on.
Spoiler?
Damn, I would've bet money that the red eyed blot was going to be La Destructora, corrupted by blot.
Fully expected the first wolf to look like her doggo
Say, this place doesn't happen to have laws regarding child support, does it?
Wait, does Fritz go by They/Them? I don't remember if Poi ever gave us Fritz's pronouns, but they seem to refer to their character as "they/them"
Jo often does that so he doesn't need to decide a random npc's gender, but Fritz is the only player character that uses they/them. I'm pretty sure the party has used she/her several times though when referring to Fritz. Most likely, they don't worry about it much.
Jocat, i know you stopped doing the crap guide to dnd videos a long time ago but could you please try a crap guid to bloodhunters?
I know I'm a little late, but this might help someone scrolling through the comments learn the rules a little better. Crossbows normally can't multy attack because of their loading property. It balances out their higher damage. RAW Fritz wouldn't be able to do what she did.
Not a criticism, I just care about RAW a lot
Dude I was so close to first
I shall let jo know i was the first to like and comment
I dunno if I missed it, but is fritz they/them?
Yeah. Fritz is primarily female… but have always referred to themselves as they/them and towards other bird folk as well.
Early gang unite!
Present!
