21:40 Ya know, Wurd actually makes a good point. I would respect and admire the heck out of a kingdom where the king and queen can openly cuddle. That's just so sweet and wholesome.
Bonus: When one's not there, the other can stretch out, relax, even take a nap, all without leaving the seat of power.
I've always loved the idea of this kingdom that seems tough and serious, and the knights are prestigious, powerful and disciplined, but then you see the king and queen and they are absolute adorable dorks. For as serious as everyone is, the knights, the servants and whatnot, they all hold a gentle place in their heart for the king and queen because they are precious lol
We're 15 sessions into the campaign and I feel the need to say that this has been my favorite campaign on the channel so far. All the players are wonderful and Jo is a fantastic DM as always. I'm so invested in these characters and the plot and the world building I seriously can't wait to see what happens next! Thank you to Jo and all the players for making an amazing campaign! ♥️
Same! Out of all the campaigns I've watched from different channels, I've never been so invested in the characters and the world.
throughout the first encounter, Laira kept her seat on the throne. Like the queen she is.
Reminds me of the elf from Danmachi... hawt ;-)

31:48 is my favorite part
I binged watched all of these videos in a week, and my only complaint is that there isn't enough of them! Keep up the good content!
Transformers
More than meets the eye
Transformers
Sergi in disguise
The only people that would write Buck a letter would be the people right next to him, his ex wife or that gay preist he met a while ago 💀
Honestly, shocked Buck hasn't gotten a collections letter, being that he's a gambler.
For those curious about why Red had a fight-or-flight response to the shrooms, and what she’s talking about when she says “fungus lady from the abyss,” she’s referring to Zuggtmoy, the Demon Queen of mushrooms and spores.
As a dndemonologist myself, I had a little bit of a “point at the screen” moment.
Demonic Psilocybin = Very Very Bad Trip.
Also Red had a lot of Zuggtmoy related trouble on an other dnd podcast Rolling With Difficulty
Ability checks include skill checks and initiative roll, not only pure stat check, so poisoned status affects them as well. Ability checks are one of the three main d20 rolls of DnD - the others are attack rolls and saving throws. You can find more information at pages 173 and 174 of PHB.
Obviously you can still play with your ruling, but I wanted to clear up what the RAW version is.
Love the series
Buck failing to seduce because the other person was fucking with him is top tier mood.
Yay lol was just rewatching this on twitch when I got the the announcement that they uploaded on RUclips.
Woops sorry for falsely claiming first comment
@@MonkeyBeans10no worries. You can have the title and rank.
All I could think of when Laira was popping off was "What if she jumped on the desk like Judau in that one episode of ZZ Gundam and just started shaking Euphrasia by the collar?"
Here before he changes the thumbnail.
PS. We love you Jo
same
Laira pulled a Trojan Wurd
Okay, I have to say: I LOVE Sergei so much 😂
Sergi is amazing, probably my favorite npc in the campaign so far
Shout out to Astrapio for being a big bird and reaching out, tactfully, once more.
The man's trying his best.
As someone said in a previous session: he reads very Miles Edgeworth, ie. autistic coded lawyer guy with zero social skills and no sense of fun.
I both love and hate him in equal measure.
Finally caught up!
Fritzbucklaiwurd
at the end, i was expecting wyrd to jump and grab the whistle like a little child he is
The Vertheim fan theory has both weakened but also strengthened. I can't say for sure though.
And as a train enthusiast; YAY! Now to geek out and keep you straight on steam locomotive operations.
Amazing episode with lots of standing up, promises fun and a wholesome end
I am glad they will soon be 'hanging out.'
58:56 That was glorious.
2:06:50 Yes!
Havent been interested in actual plays for awhile but the first few seconds of this one pulled me in
Ohhh I've been waiting for this 🤞🤞🤞
The return of buckward!
I'll be honest, if I was playing in this campaign... I'd be hooked trying to figure this one out. There are so many possible outcomes and ways the past could have happened, it's crazy. Spoiler below, though.
Only thing that's potentially clear is the future: it looks like Lord Nicholas is trying to become dragon by acquiring political power, taking over other regions. And given the foreshadowing, it's likely the gang's either going to get arrested in Treviscetta if they perform any illegal healing magic, or at least be faced with that moral choice. And even those are pending any further revelations.
Wagon went into a box car. Nice.
Horses in a dedicated horse carrying car. Nice!
Mecha dragon FTW!!!!!
Getting Galaxy Express 999 vibes.
So Sergei hasn't figured out how to create a reverse gear and may need to figure out piston compression and such.
I had 2 thoughts, the first is that Wurd needs a companion dagger for Negotiation, maybe something like "Counter Offer".
Second, Bugbear Leg Hair, try saying that 5 times fast.
There's an old saying that "Diplomacy can get you out of situations that tact could have kept you out of," which inspired the rogue in one of my old campaigns to name his dagger Tact and his pistol Diplomacy.
Spoiler theory

The Entire Kingdom of the people of that underground cave place got turned into the blot!
(I believe that) The entire kingdom got turned into blod by the tree, not just the ones in the cave
@@idunn000 I think the same
They were from the era in Jo's previous campaign I believe...
Initiative is a dexterity check and therefore an ability check for future reference.
Sludge Creature wake up new HoE video
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo
I've really been enjoying these.
9:26 Did Runesmith starting to hum.... I know that song but I can't think of it, it's country/western if it is the song I am thinking of. Something you hear when walking into your country western outfitters or Boot Barn, a place called Big R, or any of that type of place. Also, someone in chat mentioned if the devil calls them they'll ride that train, is that a call back to Long Black Train another country song? Also someone else in chat asked if that Demon is a Vorcha? I agree, Vorcha I can see it.
Vorcha 1: "You like my face tatoo?"
Vorcha 2: "Uh..yeah...sure what exactly is it of?"
Vorcha 1: "It's a tattoo of my face, of my face. Hints face tattoo."
Vorcha 2: ".........seems legit."
Serge is literally just Typhon De Leon from Borderlands 3
Wohoo! My audity and visual cocaine has arrived!
What i wouldn't give up for my first full dnd campaign to be run by joecat 6 years and have only actually played 45 minutes just to be kicked out for roleplaying my character
Two things. 1. I have heard MANY TTRPG Horror stories, that depends on what you were doing and POV to be kicked out in 45 minutes. I have heard many players try to make themselves look good by "blaming" the DM or other players. Much the same as I have heard of many Unban appeals videos on YT made from Twitch. Be careful with that "excuse" of "RPing your character". Now pay attention this next part loosely relates to getting kicked from a table for just simply playing your character in the way they would act in game.
2.Though I do agree with the Jo-Cat forever DM thing, since he knows what we like I'd even give him a "World" he could DM for me as I play another character apart from the ones I already made in there. I just need to show him what Ember Brimstone is like. Calix, Embers pet human girl (Calix the Wolf Girl) and give him an idea of what the feel of everything is. From all female space pirates, and super Urban Mecha crews to the exact tone of Ultra-violence used in game, think 80's VHS anime and 90's laser disk, the use of se*ual themes and threat of it always hanging over head that or imminent death of an NPC or PVP or PVNPC, nothing is off the table and nothing is off limits. It might have to be one of those kinds everyone sighs "Consent forms" and agrees with everything and each other in game and out. I just roll that way, it's all or nothing. Get out of the kitchen if you can't take the heat, weather that's my romantic love IRL or my playful/witty/or intentionally " RP banter in game and how I play Ember or Calix. Lady Boss/ Warrior Sorceress and then a deadly Spell casting Sword Princess type character. Now throw in the MC Ember is a Dragon from the old world (with a human form) seeing all the new shiny shinnies of the Cyberpunk and the Space/Macro/Cosmic stuff as in the BBEG.
DMNPC Ember that's basically the bad guy needs to summon this great evil trapped in their claymore sword to finish them off once and for all. I mean we can't let the big baddies take what they want they won't leave a world left to take, before Ember has her deserved chanced to burn the world now can we? Oopsie Doopsie Protocall Activated. I did not say a spoiler for the world or later planned story that was merely a marketing gimmick used to up sell the product, I did not lie once ever. Anyways I think Jocat would do good in my Caern but the world itself is the tribunal of the soul itself. He will face many challenges within the backwards world of Caern, questionable ethics, CoS (Curse of Strahd and Ravenloft style Gothic themes and concepts) shit thrown and mixed in from other universes like plasma swords and laser guns or whatever is cool to throw into the melting pot of media I am making. I can't share it because extreme content warning YT is Super Mega Ultra Weenie Hut Jr's now so... yeah. I'd have to post it elsewhere I have been writing it in an email draft ever since moving it from Ai Dungeon 2 after some human error occurred and I lost vast portions of the story so I have been rewriting and recreating it with newer and better material. It was a setback yes but one so that I can have a chance of improving the story and expanding upon it. What was great then and was lost, can be even better now and complete so I can finally continue where I left off so long ago further on in the plot. My plan is to use the story I am writing as a Legendarium or a Silmarillion and then have the DM (or me as DM) bring out occasional plot characters to interact with players or help the team or even have them become a part of the party. Depending on what that NPC is or who they are and in some antics like in Magistratum Mundanus (a good D&D Warhammer throwback campaign go look it up on YT it's great.) they use a very special character from the actual cannon as a fun thing in their campaign as a non cannon thing.
Very Nice
Isn’t that knight from new bescay from some kingdom in the southwest, and disiona is also down southwest😮😮😮😮
So, the blob and the life tree have some connection to an long ago war between Elynthi and (that other nation).
What if Elynthi poisend/misued the life tree to create the blob as a weapon aginst (that other nation), creating the need for the pilgrmage to sustion the poisend/otherwise weakend tree?
That would pull the two storilines (pilgremage and blob) nicely together, plus the glorius "are we (elynthi) the badis?" moment.
Dont know how the underthrone society and travasetta play into this yet.
Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Sergi
I love these tree based swears.
I'm gonna miss the amazing mecha-cowboy theme...
Splitting up the Hearts is the *worst idea ever.*
All that does is create more targets, ergo more opportunities for The Blot to take one… and Laira is literally the only one that can put them in a place The Blot can’t reach.
If the party loses just ONE Heart, the entire pilgrimage (in theory) is a failure, because doesn’t the Tree need ALL of them???
The thing is that Laira is a squishy caster. Fritz and Buck almost definitely have more hp, and most likely have a higher AC. Casters are also more useful when they aren’t constantly getting hit and can concentrate on spells easier. I’d argue that you would want to split them between just Fritz and Buck. If either Laira or Wurd have any they should have all, because they should only have them with the presumption that they would hide or wildshape to keep them safe. It is stupid to give Laira just one though, it’s not keeping it more safe and you don’t want her drawing fire.
@@sirlightningpotato
I think you’re missing the point that they can’t lose even *one.*
Lose one, *mission fail.*
The Tree needs them ALL; not 90% of them, *ALL of them.*
Splitting them up, *at all,* is a bad idea.
I don’t care who has them, but just keep ‘em together.
This isn’t just about losing mid-combat, but losing them by *any means.*
The party already had one stolen from them, and had that Pixie taken off with it or if they never discovered him, the mission would’ve failed right there.
I cannot stress this enough.
My point is that you either want them all on one person or you want to split them to the people who you want to draw fire, the point of splitting them up wouldn’t be to protect the hearts, but to stop one person from being targeted and getting killed immediately
@@sirlightningpotato
You’re assuming the Blot need them all, too.
…and that’s a big mistake.
If they needed them all, then why not hit the party when they already have all of the Hearts, instead of harrowing them every time they get one?
Remember.
Lose one. Mission fail.
There would be no point in retrieving the rest.
That’s just dumb.
The point isn’t to protect the hearts directly, it is so one person is not the only person being hit. If all damage is going to one person and they go down, it’ll be easier to take a heart than if the damage is split and it’s harder to take them out
I feel bad for buck
Let's go!
Transformer Dragon! Can we get a Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon reference with Sergei shooting lasers out his eyes?
This poor party just canNOT catch a break on these skill check challenges!
Got damn idk what happened but Laira was not taking an L this episode
Lord Eufrasia was just ripped a new one and didn't care 0-o
Shamaya is Zuggtmoy confirmed.
I'm just wondering if season 16 is going to come out before you guys do season 17 on your live stream
No way bat qeen reference
GodKing Wurd and Queen Emperess Laira. it may not be Fritz X Laira, but the Kingdom needs a King and a Queen and they are the most capable. They can have their own flings that's the privileges of being Royality there just needs to be some kind of Monarchy in place and Crown(s) in power. Buck would make a good Royal Knight, Captain of the Royal Guard. Fritz the High Priestess or Archmage... Sage of Wind??
Thank you jocat (first comment)
Edit: this episode is so great, you're an amazing DM and an inspiration to all jocat! :D

The fact that this needed a disclaimer should make the D&D community feel ashamed
