Lyrics:
I've been misplaced in so many ways
Broken battlegrounds, hiding veils of delicate deceit
Yet here I breathe
Teeth still gleam from holy water
While millions of lambs migrate to the slaughter
My head in a bag and my hands are bound to my feet
And voices sing:
"Were we erased like common thieves?
Tossed in a cell to feast with the fleas
All because we never had written a word."
What will I see, tonight in these eyes
And what will i know when the morning comes?
What will I see, tonight in these eyes
And what will I know when the morning comes?
Must we remind of exchanges existing so long ago?
Would we arrive at agreeable musings
Sentimental or just confusing
We lost what we had but we took it back
Friends in the gutter, enjoy one another
Just give yourself to the dust and the dirt where you stand
What will I see, tonight in these eyes
And what will i know when the morning comes?
What will I see, tonight in these eyes
And what will I know when the morning comes?
I'm not who you think I am
And even if I thought you'd known
I never would have told you so
And more alarming
I would have done the very same
Would have stole more than your name
Would have cursed and bought the world on your shoulders
I was in the wrong place
At the right time
And what's the worst I'd see
By giving myself to the earth below me
Not knowing how far I'd fall, by casting away the ordinary
Just how long can I stay in illusions formed here long before me?
And how long can I breathe this stolen breath here underneath?
There's that subtle smile that did me in
She moves...
An agony reminds where I've been
She breathes
"I'd never let this happen again."
Where's your heart?
Mimicking the patriarch
She's naive...
#TheDearHunter #ActIVRebirthInReprise
It is a damn shame that this band isn't more well known. I've said for a while that The Dear Hunter is one of the most slept on bands of all time, and I stick to that. There is so much passion and talent in this music. I know a lot of people who would dig them, but it just seems like no one has ever heard of them. It's a weird thing.
+Skylar L iv been following TDH since 2009, getting as many friends as i can turned on to them, and im still shocked they rnt more well known. works great for us cus when they come to ohio they play a small bar and i get to see them close up and chat with them after but still. people like kevin periera (who commissioned all the orchestral work on Act 4) have helped a lot in gettinng the word out on them. also there was a TDH song in one of the saints row game a few years ago i wanna say En Cauda Venum. as long as people like us continue to buy their music and support them they will keep goin. in pri 20 years TDH will be the greatest band that everyonne missed out on when they were in their prime.
So true, I just recently discovered them and so far I have shared this band with 4 friends who all enjoyed it. And why wouldn't one enjoy their music? It's amazing..
@@WhoaD614 Very late but it's the same way I discovered them. I looked up the song from the game and was hooked ever since.
@@dizzydial8081 which game?
Yeah, I feel real alone. Especially because it seems people find them really mediocre or bad for some reason - 10% of the people I've shown them to think they're incredible, the rest think they're awful and I don't know why lol
This was such a blast to work with TDH. This entire album was beautifully arranged and I got to play it. yas
Arturo Rodriguez What did you play?
Flute and Piccolo. I was with the orchestra (Awesome Orchestra Collective -- look us up) that provided much of the orchestral background. It was a real treat to record and perform with them at The Fillmore in San Francisco.
what's casey like in the writing directing process? is he a really chill guy or like a staunch perfectionist?
@@yodamvpplayer i would also like to know but i doubt he'll reply since its been over 2 years unfortunately
You lucky, TALENTED ASS, duck. Oh god im so jealous!
I feel so sad that I've been deprived of The Dear Hunter until now, but overjoyed that I found them at last.
THAT LITTLE PIANO REPRISE OF MUSTARD GAS AT THE END WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
Casey should honestly release a full version of that, it would be lovely
+Kyle Hagen I meant of just piano. I've listened to.mustard gas before, as you can tell by the _beginning of my comment_
Kyle Hagen Sounds like a personal problem, lmao.
Well we know the topic of mustard gas right. How the boy almost died and after he remembered his life.
I love the short nod to it past the Bitter Suite I reprise. Because not only does it give him a huge flood of emotion upon seeing Ms. Leading but also it invokes how he felt when he almost died.
All the reprises and repeated motifs have me by the collar by each time i “discover” a new one
Well, that was probably the coolest lyric video I've ever seen...
Todd Jameson i agree with you
You need to see soens music video... Its a news reporter and it's AMAZING
Besides the fact that this is one of the best TDH songs ever, kudos to whoever made this lyric video.
It was Casey himself! He did The Revival one too!
Shut UP. What? Not normally a fan of lyric videos and was specifically impressed by this one. Why Casey you have to create so good!?!
it is my absolute favorite thing in the world when bands have musical themes that cross albums like this. this band will never not bop.
That last reprise of act 2 gave me hardcore chills
Ryan Vandale
I teared up, It felt so fucking great!
Lizer Zhiné Zecor you described my exact feelings, glad there are people who's souls appreciate soulful music
Ryan Vandale agreed man. that lonely piano is still so so brilliant.
Ryan Vandale This.
SeanyBoyT Unless the original poster was referring to the Bitter Suite I&II reprise straight out of the bridge.
The musical reprise in the middle just makes me wanna get up and dance.
WalkUpSlowlyDownSmash It literally feels like that moment in a musical where the entire cast comes out for a huge musical number, I adore it
"There's that subtle smile that did me in...
...She moves."
"...An agony reminds where I've been..."
"...She breathes..."
"I'll never let this happen again..."
"Where's your heart?
Mimicking the patriarch.
She's naive..."
no amount of callbacks by any band i can think of would ever beat this.
Have you listened to Blomljud? Sola Scriptura? Remedy Lane? Doomsday Afternoon?
If you love that level of cohesion, I would highly recommend the albums above. Also Visions, by Haken.
Haken
checking out Sola Scriptura and it's pretty great. reminds me of the old prog rock i grew up on. I'm hoping it doesn't get all christian on me. Sounds like it is. Tends to get a bit boring from a lyrical standpoint. Casey treats religion a bit different FYI.
+Stover PiX Well, I thought it always had Christian tones. However, I think Casey does it in an interesting way by not focusing strictly on the Christian themes straight up but hiding them in allegories and metaphors. The main focus is always on the Boy's life.
Nevertheless, it's great music whether or not there is a religious message or not.
Casey may be very areligious but it's clear that Christianity has a big influence on his imagination (side-effect of growing up in our society, I suppose).
God fucking damn that shit is beautiful
Well said, well said.
This band has some of the best music I've heard in a while. So creative and inspiring artistry. Amazing music!
This deserves 100x the amount of views it has
GodDamnitKyle agreed sadly the majority of musically dull humans would rather here the idiotic mumblings and incoherent rap beats of "artists" like future and designer :p it's sad but at least we understand and love good music with a creative melody and enchanting story telling :p but really, am I the only one that thinks popular music really says a lot about the intellect if the majority of society? it sure says a lot to me lol
Yes! I remember listening to Act II for the first time before they were signed to Equal Vision and wondering "Why aren't musicians like THESE guys big?" And now everyone will see. They'll all see.
It's happening, guys!
Rodolfo Ramirez can`t wait!
+Rodolfo Ramirez 2 days
+joshua molina stop
+joshua molina >deer hunter cheat
the fuck
I love the album artwork. The music really goes well with it. There needs to be s short animation film with The Dear Hunter doing the score.
I have got to stop listening to The Dear Hunter songs for my first time when my family is home because I am incapable of reacting in a normal manner to them. I mean- can you blame me?? That reprise of The Bitter Suite I is HAUNTING.
4:40 to 6:05 is just pure musical joy 🤯
The reprise of Bitter Suite I is one the best parts of the album, which is saying a lot as it's consistently fantastic. It neatly reintroduces Ms. Leading while highlighting that Hunter has become the sort of deceitful person he rejected her for being in the first place. First she took advantage of his ignorance, now he in turn is taking advantage of The Lover.
I could not agree more
Casey writes the story, lyrics, music, and he makes these videos? Holy shit dude
Also, he built some of the guitars the band plays.
I still consider this one of the most addicting music videos out there and it deserves so many more views.
Wow just imagine if all of the acts were animated together like this...
Sounds good, new to the band…the singing is great
Rodrigo Millan I suggest trying out Act II and the Color Spectrum next.
Thanks, I heard Act II was the one to go for...
Rodrigo Millan The Color Spectrum is awesome, each of the EPs has 4 tracks and a different mood/approach based on the color, they display so much fucking diversity in one album, though it is like 34 songs or so... Black is my favorite of them. These guys are some of the best songwriters of all time imo, criminally under appreciated.
Mark Kram Right, I had never heard of them until Conner Green from Haken suggested them to me. Thanks!!!
Rodrigo Millan Ah I saw that post too! Big fan of Haken/Conner
Oh man, Mustard Gas, the Untitled track from Act III, and the Bitter Suite 3... SO GOOD
They are truly the best band no one has ever heard of. We are the lucky ones who get to spread our love for this band. To our friends, and to our families so they shall hear the masterpieces written and played by The Dear Hunter.
This is easily, from start to finish, one of the Top 10 albums ever made!
Love the tie in to "Mustard gas" at the end of the song.
The start, the chorus, that part from 'untitled', that part from the bitter suite... god, This is awesome.
This phenomenal song and the brilliant "Waves" surely must entail an excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT Acts album in our near future, people!
I just literally found out about this band , and this song is absolutely amazing! 4:51 when the horns kick in ..... wow!
Stairway to heaven's got nothing on this song.
There, I just said THAT and i stand by it.
I've waited so long.....and they delivered with a full-on eargasm.the ending nearly had me in tears
This is adictive!! Casey is a true genius!
The very best way to listen to this album is straight through; beginning to end; flame to fire.
- When this is fully released, I'm listening to all 4 acts at night while smoking and staring at the stars.
+Maryssa Gaynor Well, did you do it? :P Once the weekend comes I'm going to marathon them with some whiskey and hopefully a cool breeze.
+Justin DiMatteo I did. Best experience ever.
Maryssa Gaynor going to do it with all five now?
I can never think of the right thing to say about how amazing this act is, especially this song. Thanks for creating it.
I really hope the rest of the album is individual like this.
How in the metric fuck have I not seen/heard this till now???
This has become one of my favorite songs. The instrumental break gives me a sense that we're moving through life and looking back at our experiences with nostalgia while still simultaneously moving forward and living in the moment. 👌
It's been a good minute since I've been blown away by something this amazing.
I guess this will be their masterpiece, like Coheed and Cambrias "Good Night, Apollo, I'm Burning Heart IV". Astonishing, especially the classical parts and how well they fit into the song.
Burning Star:)
+GMHD54 The whole album is consistently good, I can't pick out my favourite, but I find myself humming "Waves" alot.
Then again, all of their albums have been like that, so... ~Rage
Burning Star IV*****
*”Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV: Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness. Im assuming that’s the one you are referring to being they have 2 albums called Good Apollo
This song never gets old, such a masterpiece.
One listening to those harmonies and I'm dead in the best way possible
This band is criminally underrated. It's one of my current favorites for sure. Very theatrical.
It's been to long, I'm welcoming this excellent band back in my life.
that was absolutely incredible
That untitled demo of theirs was one of my favourite songs by TDH, I'm glad to see this is what it became.
I've never seen them live, but it would be great if they started to incorporate visual backdrops in their future shows. It makes sense to me, especially within the context of the four acts because there seems to be a theatrical feel to it.
Seen them live and loved it absolutely. Still just a small band they will get there soon. Just go and enjoy it 👍
My fucking god the bits from Meeting Ms. Leading at the end are so beautiful
THE DEAR HUNTER IS SO UNDERRATED
Love this song and this band! Sounds a lot like The Diablo Swing Orchestra.
I like how they used some previous music in this song and sort of re-did it. Excellent.
This song is a goddamn masterpiece.
I just recently heard of this band, and decided to check out this song as an introduction.
i became a fan in the first 4 seconds. Well done.
cool song!
Everyone needs to check out Agent Fresco. Super talented band from Iceland, who have that similar alt/prog rock sound. You will not be disappointed. Dark Water, Pyre, See Hell and The Autumn Red are good listens.
Yeah! Agent Fresco is a great band!
I got introduced to this video and band I’d say somewhere around 4 years ago? I’m very sad that this video, let alone the band, aren’t more well known. This was the first song from them that I ever heard and it still holds up. It has so much life and talent with the transitions, wordplay, the whole lot basically. I wish RUclipss random algorithm would push this video out more so more people would at least watch this video in particular, cuz whoever edited this absolutely nailed it!
Hey thank you
@@caseybluecrescenzo You're a genius and one of the best artists of the last decades.
so, i picked up my copy of the record and, much to my dismay, there weren't any moving lights in the background, or changing colours like there is in this video at the very end. talk about misleading advertising. i haven't been this upset since i found out gushers don't actually make your head huge.
hahahahahaha!!! Post of the day. ^^^
Post of the century
Dear Casey, holy god more bassoon. Yours truly, a devoted bassoon player
I absolutely love this band and am so glad I found them. Listening to all of the acts is an experience and I am so hyped to hear the last one. Will also be sad that the story is over though :'(
Ugh Casey always embraces his fans with an excellency. He truly is a master and what he does and I cannot wait for the release of his new album, another story to behold and cherish.
I sense a Coheed and Cambria influence amongst us.
i liked for the bassoons at the end
Me too! Took me a while to realise they are playing a variation on "Wait" from the same album.
This song blows the socks right off my feet and gives me the chilliest of chills. :3
This video is so beautiful. Bravo to all the hard work on typography.
Such an amazing track! Can't wait for the tour.
So many sentiments to songs in past albums were payed in this song. Seeing all of the Acts come together as individual, yet connected bodies of work is so cool. The Dear Hunter is doing it right :)
A great Dear Hunter medley. All for our listening pleasure.
Still slaps
don't know if i commented here before but damn, best lyric video i've watched, especially that instrumental part
Most underrated band... So sad...
This is brilliant! That Unitiled Track from Act 2 has always been one of my favorite Dear Hunter songs and is what I have based a lot of my music on for a while now. I'm so happy that its going to be an actual track.
It's official now, this is the best TDH song ever.
The best TDH song ever is the one you are going to play
So happy that The Dear Hunter is back. This song is just...absolutely great!
just the same and better at the same time sound that I am used to hear from the dear hunter. Fusion and improved songs from the past and present, fuck yeah!!
2:36 I started crying I miss this band so much it's been so long and I'm just now coming across this video oh my god
Good news, they're still touring!
This video should be shown to anyone who's never listened to TDH before. Instant conversion.
I just found this band, but I am officially in love with this man's voice.
Ugh. It's giving me chills.
Frito Laye oh my, that's not nice.
Ambellina sure it is. if i had put my pecker up there you wouldn't have felt a thing.
Ambellina been in love with this band for like 5 years. check out act 2... and act 1... and act 3... and the color spectrum... and migrant... yeah all of their shit.
wow this song is amazing. brilliantly composed, brilliantly produced, brilliantly sung, just wow
Cannot wait for this album, and the little bits of act 2 are so amazing.
Incredible song, one of many excellent cuts from the new album. Very interesting take on the video too. Old fashioned in perfection.
Whoa, just epic. You did it again Casey, mind blown!!!
The video give me some massive bioshock vibe.
Makes sense actually
A good portion of this song actually premiered in Act: III as Untitled 1.
Already pre-ordered. Can. Not. Wait.
I pre-ordered and I can't wait. The Acts are a masterpiece
Can't wait for this album!
That's the first time I preorder an album, it's worth!
Why does this have no comments. This is amazing!!! That untitled song was soooo good, glad to hear it in here
Heard for the first time. Amazing. These guys are amazing.
Tens bon gust.
never disappoints, and keeping in with the Acts.... much love.
so inspiring! this is the kinda stuff i love!! brilliant band for dnd, character drawing & writing inspiration!!
is absurd how underrated this band is
I hope their new album is good, my first time listening to their music.
Only a family of deer could hate this band.
Thank you. Just thank you.
YES!!!
Had on repeat for 2 days now
Holy shit I just cant get over how amazing this is!
I can’t be the only one that thinks of an old Pixar movie when @3:25 kicks in right?
It sounds like Lord Huron - The night we met
