I’m reading my first Stephen king book right now, but the last thing I would have expected is his use of alcohol. And uh, The reason why I’m reading King is because my AP Seminar teacher told my mom I can be the next Stephen King, but I hope alcohol doesn’t affect my writing😭
Hope you don't mind me offering a ittle bit of advice - if your 'thing' is horror, read as wide a variety of horror books as you can, not just King. You'll subconsciously soak up the many different styles and techniques of the genre and through this discover your own 'voice'. Thoroughly ecommend Josh Mallerman's 'Bird Box' for your next read. Good luck! And remember that writing a book is 95% stubbornness and 5% talent. So don't give up! 👍
@@patrick_nilanmy reply was to the OP 👍 I read quite a few of Stephen Baxter sci Fi novels. Philip K Dick too. And Ian McEwan's Machines Like Me is good. 🙏
@@thehangingparsiple5692 my genre is weird, it’s relatability writing 😅 I want to write books that people of all sorts of groups, backgrounds, and just all walks of life can relate to. Myself, I’ve always struggled with fitting in and feeling normal, so I want to create stories that make people feel like they belong and are important, regardless of their situation. Pretty sure my teacher meant my format and writing style will make me the new Stephen King😅 But hey, if I get to write some horror stories later on, I’ll definitely check out bird box
"This Tower's looking really unstable" ~ Stephen King. I'm not a great fan of Mr King, especially his later works. Loved the first two books in the Mr Mercedes trilogy, and half of the third one; Carrie; The Shining. Joe Hill - who may or may not be his son - writes a mean short story. Check out 21st Century Ghosts. All the great writers were alcoholics it seems. 😢 Hunter Thompson Jack Kerouac Charles Bukowski Scott Fitzgerald Dylan Thomas. I like a glass of whisky & coke, half and half, to overcome the fear that cripples me when I sit down to write. But I can't drink beyond that and write.
i love this idea! i’m gonna go binge your other videos 🤭
Oh no, def stick to the more recent ones. There’s been a big growth curve 😂

Argh. Yes. Salem's Lot and Pet Sematary are great, too 👍
@@thehangingparsiple5692 oooh, Scott Fitzgerald. I didn’t think of him. I’m hearing a few people recommend Pet Cemetery so I’ll def look into it next!
