    two brilliant and very bold comedic minds and performers. mostly, they were "winging it" with improvisation.

    "..I doubt very strongly if anyone will meet with resistance when I say he is the most fantastic individually one talented, many faceted performer that I have had the good fortune to know for some 20 years and he is not only a great comedian but a very fine, very very wonderful guy a good friend.."
    Pile it on Jerry. LOLOL.

    Jerry doing what he does best, making poetry from improvised chaos. Jack is a great sparring partner. It would have been something special to see him live with Deano back in the day.

    I love them both but I just didn't find it funny, I think if I'd been mucking round with them it would have been hilarious, but it's more like the stuff you do at home or in a pub to entertain yourself, I dance round with a pile of handbags as a hat and put beer mats on people's ears. I much prefer them on Password or Jerry in his flawless brilliant films.

  • @DerBingle1

    Jerry Lewis is one of the most egotistical, unfunny "comics" to emerge from the 40/50 night club scene. His movies are insipid and stupid, and he's only got moves that he stole from Stan Laurel. Plus him and his pals kept most of the money raised by that insipid telethon consisting of third rate vaudeville acts and his corn ball tear jerking little speeches.

    • @rogerwilco4397
      @rogerwilco4397 4 года назад +1

      Sadly, true. Carter was one of those comics that never made it big, but, like Jan Murray and Norm Crosby, always seemed to be around'. Old time comics swear they were top notch, but I don't get it. These guys all seem bitter and angry for some reason, seems not to even enjoy their work. Insincere and cruel in some way... the kind of guys who take off the tie three minutes into their act to show everyone how hard they are working for YOU. the audience. Guys like Dean Martin did not try so hard an came off funny... these guys not so much.

    • @vestibulate
      @vestibulate 2 года назад

      @@rogerwilco4397 According to somebody or other (I can't remember who) Jerry Lewis actually admired Jan Murray as a worldly sophisticate. These were aggressive, insensitive men who were self-conscious of their lack of education and tried to compensate by steamrolling audiences with "zany" capers. In fact, you don't need a college degree to recognize that these guys were trying to drag down viewers to their own level.

      @@vikings844 Another time, another place. I find them fascinating and marvellous but what is apparent is how very hard they have to keep working and what a stress it is. Comedy was even more competitive then than it is now, with fewer outlets for old and new talents. I agree though, classic and original. I love it.
