I don’t know how you can’t hate on Islander. Excellent product from an excellent up standing company. Keep up all the good work Mark. Thanks for everything!
Quality looking piece. I’m with you, Marc, the Roman numerals are a little out of character, but I can ignore them. Absolutely love that color of red, especially with the fade to black. Thanks for showing ALL the colors...they’re all nice!
Always good value from Phoibos. I have their Eagle Ray GMT with the red dial, and swapped the bracelet for a nato strap (black with two red stripes). Schmick 👍
Would get this if I didn't have a Spinnaker Bradner. Love the screw down crown for the bezel. Marc, not sure if you've done it already but I would love to see a video on your collection and why you enjoy each watch or perhaps an instagram post(s) showing off your boxes with model names. Not directly related to your business but would be nice to see.
Marc you should have mentioned you originally started the islander watches to give us, and yourself, the watches we wanted: a modernized SKX. Wearing my green 38mm islander as I type this. I love it and it's -2.8 sec/day with 11 days of data.
Love Phiobos watches! I've got the grey Voyager and have been eyeing off the Wavemaster. I've noticed you used to even back in 2016 shoot in hi-def whats with the lower resolution?
Beautiful!! Have the Eagle Ray GMT Quartz love it. Question Mark Why did they stop making the Sentinel its an amazing watch love mine , were they a poor seller??
Awesome watches!! I’m curious, I heard you say you don’t sell** anything above** 4R35 movements? So you don’t ever sell watches with a 6R15? Is that just because of the pricing and they won’t sell well? Thanks.
@@islandwatch aha I don’t get what you mean lol and I don’t think I will get a straight answer now but, you don’t sell 6R15 movement or better because of price?
Dials in all the colors look great , but when the old black with white hands shows up it just like yeah that’s it . Hard to beat . Always looks so clean
The bracelet uses (and pardon my lack of vocab) a "screw in pin"? Meaning the screw and pin are one, and you remove by unscrewing from one side. Otherwise a comfortable bracelet as far as bracelets go.
I was confused for a second when i tried to size my blue one because it has the arrow indicators on the inside of the bracelet like most push pin styles, but after closer inspection they are in fact screw pins. My first compressor style watch and it is awsome
Will you ever show us some more of the watches that you keep in your 7 or 8 boxes? It's been a long time since you showed your treasures, well ... only the ones you are wearing
Funny that you show this now: I've gotten *quite* interested in the Phoibos Eagle Ray PY017C (and may likely snag one when it's back in stock): I think their sense of style is close to unassailable.
The dial shades are very nice. Really like them. I have looked at others from the brand but never found one that is liked enough to buy or were always out stock.
IMO the GREAT WALL has been their best to date. I also have the Proteus Carbon dial with the worn look case finish. That's another nice one. Thanks for the review Marc. Are you planning to restock the "Great Wave" Islanders Marc? Thanks
I've got the red dial and it's stunning. I like the Roman numerals, must be the Italian in me! I took it off the stainless steel strap and put it on a rubber tropic, looks the business.
I don't think the logo represents a "Hydra." It's more like a "Kraken." (Like the Kraken used by the micro brand Hamtun.) Also, I'm not crazy about those oversize crowns on the Eagle Ray sticking out there without crown guards.
That is so funny. I was wondering if dive watches ever use numbers as chapters instead of shape indicators. Are there dive watches that use numbers for their chapters?
Y'know, I usually don't care about microbrands. There are so many of them now, they all blend together, and I've been into watches long enough now where I don't care if something is "specced out". If I buy something these days, it has to speak to me in some way. That being said, I like these. They kind of remind me of the old Orient watches from the '70s. If there was a brown faded dial, like the old Orient "tea dial" divers, I probably would've bought one immediately.
The gold version makes the railroad ring look more congruent. It's kind of a nod to a more 19th century, or even a steampunk vibe . . but, I agree that it definitely is more awkward looking in the silver/white versions.
Can not unterstand, why someone can build a divers watch without a divers extention!! But this watch is great anyhow! Greetings from Germany 🤗👍🏼👌🏼 P.S I am a Sports Diver…. And i warnt to weare my watches under water.
You have a long overdue state of the watch collection to do. I remember your video for divers, but you didn't do it for EVERY watches that you own. Let us see when you get the chance please :)
No engineer but watched and read plenty on SR-71, favorite bird since a child. Common to have drip pans underneath them while stationary. By design, Vostok's become more waterproof as you descend as well.
Nice line from Phoibos. Love 💘 your reference to the SR-71. I think you should make an SR-71 themed watch using your "Samurai" case blacked out with an aviation / pilot dial and bezel. You make it & I'm first in line to buy it 😁 If you can make a watch with the Tomcat on the caseback; you can make a watch and put the world's greatest aircraft on it 😎👍
I absolutely love my Proteus, but this offering looks cheap to me. The knurling is basic, the train tracks look odd, and I personally dislike the style of the bracelet. For some reason I'm just disappointed with this one. But, that just means I can save more money to buy the Islander Ice! 😊
The bracelet has screws not pins, it's a really nice watch.
My bad!
I don’t know how you can’t hate on Islander. Excellent product from an excellent up standing company. Keep up all the good work Mark. Thanks for everything!
Thank you
Made me laugh out loud when you said that you knew a lot about logos
LOL
Totally, the comedic timing was perfecto....that logo on the thumb, I've seen Marc with that for so long that I don't even notice it anymore....
It’s getting to where I only want to see the Islanders, love them
Awesome
@@islandwatch they’re awesome products ❤️
Major cool points for the SR-71 fuel tanks reference!
The man knows his Blackbirds 👌
Great watch with awesome dials. Even the red one is nice and I'm not a red dial guy. The gilt one is probably the way I'd go.
Man I love compressors. I have an Oris Chronoris (say it out loud), otherwise I'd be all over this new Phiobos. Congrats Marc on the new website.
Thanks! 👍
Those are beautiful watches. Really love the blue one....... and the green one. Love the design. Good size too.
Love that framed date window!
Me too
Congratulations for the good work. Love the “watch and learn series”, hope to see another of its videos. Thanks.
Quality looking piece. I’m with you, Marc, the Roman numerals are a little out of character, but I can ignore them. Absolutely love that color of red, especially with the fade to black. Thanks for showing ALL the colors...they’re all nice!
The guilt is my fav out of the bunch. I actually like the Roman numerals but, not the fact they are all connected by the train tracks.
Always good value from Phoibos. I have their Eagle Ray GMT with the red dial, and swapped the bracelet for a nato strap (black with two red stripes). Schmick 👍
Sweet, thanks!

I did a dive watch collection vid a while back.

I've got an ISL-05 "first gen" and its STILL running +1s/day. Gotta love that Seiko NH36 Movement :D (And my ISL-21 is -4s/day)
Awesome.
Love Phiobos watches! I've got the grey Voyager and have been eyeing off the Wavemaster. I've noticed you used to even back in 2016 shoot in hi-def whats with the lower resolution?
Not worth the upload delays.
@@islandwatch Thought as much! Cheers.
Wow I love these. That green!
Glad you like them!
Beautiful!! Have the Eagle Ray GMT Quartz love it.
Question Mark Why did they stop making the Sentinel its an amazing watch love mine , were they a poor seller??
They were for us.
Thank you
Are you able to propose an internal rotating bezel with the hours to allow to have a GMT. We are more often traveling than underwater.
That would be a good idea.
@@islandwatch Keep me posted if you do
I have often thought the same thing
Awesome watches!! I’m curious, I heard you say you don’t sell** anything above** 4R35 movements? So you don’t ever sell watches with a 6R15? Is that just because of the pricing and they won’t sell well? Thanks.
It's a Seiko thing.

True.
Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing them Marc. Have a great day! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
Hey Mark, big fan of our work and much respect!
What do you think of Helm watches??
i feel SUPER rare wearing mine... love it
Your fine Marc, I like the Islanders. You can talk about them anytime!
I think there is an old saying that says somethings like "there's no such thing as too many Islanders."
Yes, you are correct. I too have heard that saying before.
Old Tongan proverb
LOL
wasn't it Nancy Reagan who once said "one can never be too thin or have to many Islanders?"
So a Vostok is a true compressor case. It's domed crystal and back are designed to do just that. Never knew that before.
I don't think so.
The bracelet uses (and pardon my lack of vocab) a "screw in pin"? Meaning the screw and pin are one, and you remove by unscrewing from one side. Otherwise a comfortable bracelet as far as bracelets go.
It's a screw, my bad.
@@islandwatch I was expecting a more technical name. 😆
The gilt one is awesome!
Yup
I’m late in the party but mine with the green dial is on its way. I’m stoked 😁
I was confused for a second when i tried to size my blue one because it has the arrow indicators on the inside of the bracelet like most push pin styles, but after closer inspection they are in fact screw pins.
My first compressor style watch and it is awsome
They are screws, my bad!
Just received mine in blue today 👍! I was going to get the red dial, but already got the Islander ISL-66 in red...another great watch!
Good choice!
Will you ever show us some more of the watches that you keep in your 7 or 8 boxes?
It's been a long time since you showed your treasures, well ... only the ones you are wearing
eventually.

Nice compressors. Like the gilt dial! Good vid. Keep at it!
Thanks, you too!
The dial shades are very nice. Really like them. I have looked at others from the brand but never found one that is liked enough to buy or were always out stock.
Thanks for sharing!
I like your logo Marc. Also: green waffle. Turquoise too.
Thanks!
Nice watch, but I think it would look great in ice-blue face! Great review as always Mark!!!
Looks like no taper on bracelet?
Not sure; can measure.
IMO the GREAT WALL has been their best to date. I also have the Proteus Carbon dial with the worn look case finish. That's another nice one. Thanks for the review Marc.

Right on!
I like how you kind of whispered "I think it looks kind of wierd". I was think I ng the same thing. Pretty cool watches though.
LOL, thanks
I've never heard of an inner rotating bezel. Now I want a watch with an inner rotating bezel. Perfect.
Imner bezels where the begining of vintage drivers like longines 💯👍
I have a 10-year old Hamilton Khaki automatic with an inner rotating bezel.

Very nice!
Nice watches, just added to the my list the black & gold dial.
Great!
Beautiful green
It really is!
Thank you for another excellent video!
I want one with the “doinks.”
Now that would be a conversation starter watch!
LOL
Damn I was hoping you got the quartz version of these watches back in. They are more in my price range. Plus they have the gmt function.
Compressor Islander incoming!!
No plans.
Can't go wrong with NH35 movement. It is the Honda Civic of movements.
True.
Perfect analogy 👍
I don't think the logo represents a "Hydra." It's more like a "Kraken." (Like the Kraken used by the micro brand Hamtun.) Also, I'm not crazy about those oversize crowns on the Eagle Ray sticking out there without crown guards.
really like the internal bezel, like the Longines legend diver, which i think looks very cool.
I agree!
That’s a beautiful, cool watch!
Thanks.
Love the omega style bracelet
Yup
Gorgeous watch 👌
It really is!
Oh my god!
Marc is flipping the date with the hour hand on the upper side of the dial ! 😱
Are you sure Orient isn't your favorite? You called out that brand more than any other from that watch box. Just sayin! I love Orient and Phoibos!!!
That's only one box!
U usually don't like Roman numerals on the dial, but this execution looks good for me :-) The other exception with Romans is a California dial.
Fair enough!
That is so funny. I was wondering if dive watches ever use numbers as chapters instead of shape indicators. Are there dive watches that use numbers for their chapters?
None that I know off hand.
I am NOT OVER the Islander. Love them. I’m just going to keep investing because.... #localbusiness

What in the world is reflecting in the dial at 7:21 time marker? It looks like an 👽 or 🐙. 😳 Other than that... great video! Nice looking piece👍🏻

Seriously considering the GMT version
Love the the Sr-71 reference as it's my favorite plane, and great looking watch.

There are only two microbrands out there that offers the most value for money. The first is phoibos, and second is the islanders.
Anyone know what the seiko on the bottom left of the box is?
SSC507 or SSC508 or something like that.
Nothing against Phobos, butI got excited and thought this was a new Orient

Nice SR-71 analogy! Amazing bird from good old Skunk Works.
Agree about the romans.... The watch is awesome but those romans just looks too odd...
Yeah.
It's like a seafood stew of other famous watch designs.
Pretty much!
Why does a hand wound watch say automatic???
Rotor spin automatically winds watch while wearing it.
That logo though
Great design....except "chronograph" pushers: they stick out too much ((
I can see that.
