Graphics is a factor, but you need to prioritize the gameplay over the graphics like gow for example, it has same graphics for gow 4, it has been hyped up ever since the trailer dropped for gow ragnarok, now it’s no longe popular anymore since people don’t make videos on it

I think we've all done that in a game when we're bored.
I could imagine a rhythm/button mash combo where the more you press in time with a really fast beat the faster you move. Could definitely have it's week in the spotlight.
There's a doom version of that coming out soon where you time your attacks with the beat as metal music plays

It's not just about gameplay tho. There is a whole dynamic with content creation. Games that have more gameplay in a shorter amount of time is better for streaming content where viewers wanna see action and comment on what they're seeing continuously. Not to mention, one casual game can appeal to way more players than games of a specific genre. My mom could play something like among us

People complain about the lack of quality on games recently but then forget that they're indirectly the cause of that.
There's games as a product, games as art, and games as a vehicle for fun. It doesn't matter if a game has stickman graphics, if the loop is simple and fun, that's chill! If you spend a billion dollars working on cutting edge graphics, monetization, and having lots of content, that won't matter if the fun factor gets bogged down by all the extra fluff.

If you want someone to invest more time into something, it has to be extremely meaningful that they'd stay for sequels. Its kind of like difference between enjoying life at parties todya vs working hard for 10 years to enjoy life forever ahead. Most would settle for number 1. All the best Game Developers!
