Even with the third eye open. It’s hard to tell that’s just Tom on guitar and not a DJ. I remember the disclaimer on their albums, “No samples, keyboards, or synthesizers, used in the making of this record.”

I caught the TOOL reference with keeping your third eye open. Tom Morello from RATM and Adam Jones from TOOL were childhood friends. In fact, Maynard was almost the singer for RATM if you can imagine that. He dose sing backup on "Know your enemy"!
Holy shit I thought that sounded familiar I can't believe this comment is how I finally find this out.
First time I heard RATM I thought the music was dope but when I started really looking into the lyrics I had a whole new appreciation for them and it was like I was hearing the songs again for the first time
For my fellow guitar nerds especially, I can't suggest highly enough that you check out Morello doing this live. The way he plays is unique to say the least and worth studying even if you don't like his music or something. He's quietly one of the greats.
Tom is the only guy I've seen use the old hotel trick sound....a pignose(portable amp),under a trashcan....

Rage is one of my all time fav bands. If someone had never heard them and they wanted to experience rage for the first time this would be the song i would suggest. If you like rage you definitely need to check out "killing in the name of" first then check out " renegades of funk" and "testify".

Hey Scribe, before Rage were the Dutch "Urban Dance Squad(UDS)" They did Rap Rock first(debut 89) and a helluva lot more funky(check for yourself)!!! Hugely influential credit not received(Much bigger in Europe) Anyone not familiar check out "Grand black Citizen" "Son of tha Culture Clash" "Harvey Quinnt" . In a just world they would have been huge!!!
