  • Saltwater Fly Fishing in the Northern Territory, like many places, can be tough or it can be insane, sometimes all in the one day. Getting a good local guide up in these waters is definitely a worthwhile investment, and Glenn Watt from Barefoot Fishing Safaris is a great bloke who knows these waters like the back of his hand. There are a huge range of species up north, and it's perfectly feasible to catch queenfish, trevally, barramundi, longtail tuna, bream, fingermark, mangrove jack, cod, saratoga, spanish mackerel and a whole host of other toothy critters in a day's fishing.

    Hey Steve, that was a great session on the queenies. Nothing beats the sound of a screaming reel. Cheers, Pete

    Absolutely awesome!
    Really hectic.. that rod is taking a lot of abuse.. jeez.. what brand and weight is that?
    You got skills mate 100%!!!

      Thanks Jason! Yeah it really copped a bit that day, the rod is a Sage Salt HD, 9’ and #9 weight. They have newer models out now, similar would be the R8 Salt or even the Igniter if you want a really fast rod. :)

    Hi peachy great video I will get up there one day 3 questions what weight line and tippet, Iam looking at using a action camera is the chest mount for the camera ok or would you go some thing different and what type of head gear were you wearing

    • @PeachyFlyFishing
      @PeachyFlyFishing  Год назад +1

      Gday Lee! It was a 9 wt, 30lb tippet from memory. Yeah chest mount is the best for on body, good to get a camera on a little tripod that’s not stuck to you too though. And the head gear is part of the Simms Solarvent or Solarflex shirt, one of them has an integrated buff. :)

    Good stuff! You did really well considering the dreaded cool, Dry Season sou' easter! Looks like it puffed pretty solidly at times, too. Top End fishing can be a LOT harder and more fickle than many people realise, but you certainly had the right bloke in Watty. Well done. That spool spin-off was classic! As was your little Riverdance audition! 😆 Love it!
