      In the first place, the holster is designed to carry the firearm completely concealed. Your VP9's buttstock was still sticking out, which means that holster wasn't specifically designed for that gun. To be fair, you'd have to get the gun that the holster was specifically designed for, which you obviously didn't have. The glock was too small, which means the holster was probably designed for a gun whose size was in between those two guns. If you get the correct size holster for the firearm you're carrying, (which Urban Carry REQUIRES you to do before you order the holster), your firearm WILL be securely held and completely concealed.
      In the second place, the holster DOES conceal the trigger and trigger guard completely. That's undebatable, just by looking at it.
      In the third place, it CAN be drawn sitting down, if fitted properly and containing the firearm it was specifically designed for. Watch the vides on the Urban Carry site! It can be drawn one-handed, with your shirt in or out, standing or sitting, and even if you're large or skinny.
      Yes, it covers the trigger guard. Yes, it allows reliable access and holds the gun securely. It's all about getting the correct gun and the holster designed specifically for that gun.

    I use a urban carry g3 and I like it. Gen 3 worked out alot of the issues of the original urban carry. They have a magnetic retention system at the bottom of the holster that keeps the gun secure. I've trained with the draw and can get a good grip everytime. Drawing from a seated position isn't hard if you lean back slightly, which I can do because I'm pretty fit. And as far as people asking about a cell phone case, I worked for 2 years in sales, seeing dozens of people a day while wearing my urban carry. I only had 1 person say he recognized the holster. No body asked me what I was wearing. Most people aren't that observant I've found. If I got into an brawl, I'd want my current urban carry holster. It keeps my gun hidden and extremely hard to access if you're not the user.

This makes it a reasonable "Prepper's To Go Kit" for those "just in case" scenarios. Because EVERYONE knows you can make almost anything edible if you put enough Black Pepper and Frank's Red Hot Sauce on it.

    I really like my gen 1 Urban Carry holster. I have been using it for 2 years now. Why?
    1. It allows me to carry the gun concealed that would be more difficult with other holsters.
    2. With practice I have been able to become proficient in quick drawing the gun.
    3. Nobody seems to notice it.
    4. It holds the gun very securely. Unlike as stated in the video, the holsters come in different sizes to fit different sized guns. The leather is very nice and soon conforms to the shape of your gun. Hey, guy in the video, you seem to think you are pretty sharp on everything holsters. Here is a news flash, the holsters magnets are not meant to engage the way you showed it. Of course it doesn't secure the gun when you don't configure it properly. Note: I'll bet my underwear don't fit right either if I put them on upside down.
    5. My gut does not overhang my belt so the the draw from a seated position is not a problem for me.
    6. It is a lot more comfortable especially when seated than an IWB. I carry an H&K P30SK which is a double stack 9mm so the gun is a little thicker than some and it still works pretty well. I'm not a very big guy, 5'9", 155lbs and the holster/gun combo works well.
    The reason for my post is that there may be quite a few people out there like me that would find this holster (especially the newer and improved one) to be very likable but because you don't seem to know how to use the holster, are not giving it a realistic review. And yet you seem to be so sure of what you are saying.

At no point does he actually put the holster on and demonstrate how good or bad it actually is. Nobody viewing this can take anything of value out of it because all they saw was a guy talking about theoretical issues in some random person's opinion apparently based on nothing more than looking at the item. Put the god damn thing on and demonstrate it working or not working. Thank you for your video. IMHO, I have to say that my Urban Carry (UC) holds my S&W 9mm Shield with a Crimson Trace on the rail perfectly. The new UC models have a magnet that securely holds the weapon in place, even when my Shield is in the full-draw position. I can attest that, despite my monster-size hands, I can draw my Shield standing or sitting (even in my car) fairly quickly. As quickly as a belt holster, no, but pretty quickly none-the-less. I can get a safe firing grip with my Shield right in the holster. By pulling the holster all the way up, the weapon almost naturally comes into my hand. Granted, it is normally a two handed draw, left hand to bring the holster up and then my right to draw my Shield. I have practiced drawing one-handed, as Urban Carry advertises and it is easy enough to do, especially with the magnet in the new holsters. Living in the People's Republic of Seattle where people run around screaming like little children if they even think they see a firearm, max concealability is important.
    By ordering the correct size for your weapon and getting the new model that securely locks the weapon in place with the magnet, I think many people would find it a suitable carry method. Ideal, no....suitable yes. What I appreciate most is that I can wear it with any shirt, even a tucked in T-shirt and the magnetic belt clip is really innocuous. Nobody has ever asked me what it is, since we all seem to be carrying around stuff, like phone cases, on our belts these days. As far as printing, which is always a concern when CCW, I keep mine in the appendix carry position at about 1 o'clock and can wear it all day without anyone noticing. I keep my keys and other small stuff in my right front pocket and the weapon is quite well concealed behind my pocket. The leather softens up over time to the point I literally don't feel my Shield all day long. After being out all day, I've come home and even forgotten to take it off until bed time.
    Is it the fastest draw....no. However, it is always be with me, no matter how I'm dressed, which can be as important as having another rig that may be more challenging to conceal. I do have an IWB hard shell holster that I will wear if I know I'm going to covered all day and not wearing clothing that's going to print.

      Steven Llewellyn thank you for the mention, I will check that out. I really like my Urban Carry G2 tbh, if you practice with it a bit (the caveat for everything gun related) the urban carry gives a great amount of concealment and is pretty easy to operate but they're a little pricey and the cadet is just a hair too small now that I've swapped to a Sig P320 (carry) for my edc

    I have the V2 Urban Carry. It works perfectly fine for my Sig P229. I can reliably draw just fine, at speed. There ares some good improvements. Is it my primary carry holster? NO. It is not ideal as a holster, but it allows me to carry a full-sized firearm in many pairs of cloths that my normal conceal carry holster would not allow, so I frequently swap it in for those cases. A lot of your complaints are fixed in the V2 holster. There is a strong magnet in the base that holds the gun so it is far less likely to come out. There is a set of magnets in the flap so that this also stays shut until you want it to open. When you pull the flap up to release the gun, it now opens farther (I assume as I don't have the V1 but your video would seem to indicate), and relies on the magnet to retain the gun. It securely retains the firearm, and allows you access, and I have thoroughly tested this. To test, I unloaded my SIg P229, pulling the holster all the way up to the "worst possible scenario" and shook it vigorously and while jumping up and down next to my bed. I was unable to dislodge the firearm by accident.

    Sorry John, I have to disagree with you on this one. I've had my Urban Carry holster for a year now and love it. The improved design has the belt clip AND a large magnet to hold my 9mil securely in the holster. It was sold as a direct fit for my firearm and I can draw it easily from a seated position by merely arching my back a bit as I draw. (Which is a natural movement if someone is faced with a threat) It is not meant to be a "universal" holster.

    I have a current version, G3. I use from time to time for my PX4 subcompact. I basically use it for deep concelment situations. The G3 comes in a few various sizes. Better fits that way. Also there is a locking mechanism inside. An adjustable retention clip that grabs the trigger guard. Overall far better than the one in the video. But not ideal. Normally I use an IWB but still keep the G3 in my bag for if I need it.

    • @possiblepilotdeviation5791
      @possiblepilotdeviation5791 4 года назад +2

      I have a G3 too. I work at a place that kind of forces me to deep conceal, so I like it in that regard. I only practice one hand drawing with it and find it to be quite adequate. It's also extremely comfortable whereas most other IWB holsters I have tried have not been good for the amount of standing and sitting I do. This works well for both which guarantees I will carry everyday.

    When you actually purchase the holster they have different sizes for different guns. If you get the right size it will not flop out at all. And as far as being able to draw in time or while sitting down, this holster is only for people who have to have their firearm 100% concealed where it's either this or go unarmed (ie: carrying at work in office clothes against policy, etc.). I own this holster and I think it's absolutely wonderful for that purpose. And if you're uncomfortable not having a more solid trigger guard then just buy a mic holster/guard and problem solved. Also, the one in this video is an extremely old version. It's been greatly improved since then.

    What gen is it? Because the G3 (assuming you get the right size, they have a thing on their website to help) covers the trigger completely even when you pull the leather back, retention well there's a magnet and the leather is pretty stiff and it can't go anywhere when it's 'closed' and same place when 'opened'. it won't win a quick draw contest but that's not it's application, so what gen is it because it seems like they really improved it from what looks like a g1.

    Edit: For those that don't get it, I was reviewing his review, not the product. If you watched the official video demos by the maker, you can see that he is not even attempting to use it properly. If he had, and still gave it a negative review, I could respect that. His Serpa review is an example of a proper review. Having waited for my paperwork to clear, I went with a Vedder Light Tuck for my EDC and have been happily carrying since shortly after my post. I could not care less about this product as I did not feel that it met my needs, but this review did not have any factor in that because his presentation made the information useless for an informed decision.

    I considered this holster for concealed carry right before I got my permit. The biggest flaw with it is how difficult/impossible it would be to draw in any position other than standing straight up. They literally tell you in order for it to work you have to wear your pants somewhat loose. Drawing this thing while sitting is simply not happening, and drawing one handed is going to be extremely awkward. It's a cool concept, but there are better alternatives for the situations this is designed for.

And in 2018 he's using first version that was designed years ago and they improved upon in version 2. I really get the impression here that ASP thinks that there's ONE holster that is the best and that everyone should be using. I happen to disagree and his idealize HOLY GRAIL of holsters probably wouldn't work for jogging or exercise (something he knows nothing about)... in my opinion, I don't think there's ONE holster that can fit everyone's needs. I'm sure the Urban Carry holster works for a lot of people... and good for them... it just doesn't work for me... but just because it doesn't work for me, you're not going to see me trash talk a holster that might be perfectly suited for someone else's situation.
    Whereas with a traditional IWB holster, you have to have your shirt untucked. With Urban Carry, you can tuck in your shit. That's the real purpose of this holster: It fits into a category of holsters that offer DEEP CONCEALMENT for work where nobody can know otherwise you'll be fired.
    Other options for this category of deep concealment (at work) are pocket carry, ankle carry, cargo carry, Smart Carry, 3speed, JJ Racaza, etc.. or possibly even belly-band might work. Out of the belly-bands... probably the two best that I've seen are Comfort-Tac and Crossbreed.
    That's a lot of options... each person has to decide what works best for their situation.

      How do you propose being able to actually _draw_ said firearm? Seriously: let us know what kind of draw times you get out of your "deep concealment" holster. I'll bet I could make an even deeper-concealed holster out of a pair of Spanx, a square foot of neoprene, some PTFE sheet, etc., that wouldn't even show-up in a pat-down. _But it would take like 30 seconds to be able to draw._ By that time, the wearer is already dead, embalmed and buried.

      @@ASPextra well like I said. No product is perfect but I feel it's still a step in the right direction of deep conceal carry. I really haven't seen to many if any product that goes below the belt completely concealed. When you're going conceal carry in public if your a gun on the waist person you gotta make sure your shirt or coat is constantly covering the gun grip especially if your moving a lot, bending over to tie your shoe maybe you dropped your phone. You never know. This holster eliminates all that. It's better to be a little uncomfortable to possibly giving away that you have gun on your waist line.

    If they sold holsters at the "As Seen On TV" store, this would be there best seller. I carry concealed everyday at work in a high risk environment and when I need my gun, I need to be confident I can get to it. The Urban Carry looks ridiculous, reminds me of a fanny pack too much to take it seriously. I think if they targeted their ads to people that drive Saturns or Mini Coopers they would probably be a hit. John, not a bad video or anything, but it was a bit over dramatic. I own one. It does work...if you wear pants 2 sizes too big, a loose belt and have 30 seconds to a minute to wrestle it out all while looking like you're giving yourself a frontal wedgey. Oh only attempt to draw while you are standing straight up and have no gut at all. Attempting to draw while seated will result in an epic fail, unless drawing it while seated in a fully reclined lazy boy, while wearing said pants and belt or a bathrobe. By the way when you wear it...prints like a champ so you do not have to worry about that pesky concealment. John where was this review before I bought it a year ago? Thanks for having my back...lol. great video as always

    This hasnt been my experience with the UCH. The marketing is stupid as hell, and I think everyone can get on board with that... They do make them in various sizes, I use them for CCW with large frame revolvers as they honestly are the only company I have found that I can do that with. Now, I'm no stranger to carrying full size guns in CCW scenarios and often those guns are chosen over my revolvers for the same role, but all the same I've found them to do quite well with them. I wont call them the greatest holster in the world as they very clearly do have their problems and issues with the application with certain firearms.
    But again, when carrying large frame revolvers, heavy metal frame full size autoloaders, and things akin to that nature it's been quite nice.

    • @Predalien195
      @Predalien195 4 года назад +1

      @@kamp.4466 Well I'm somebody with experience and I disagree. I just laid out how it's effective with either .410 or .45 Colt but let's just ignore that ok? .45 Colt in a short barrel has more power than .38 Special and better expansion with JHP's. .410 Slugs have more power and velocity as well. .410 Buckshot with the right load also meets these parameters. All of which meet FBI minimums, all of which are more than lethal at 21 feet or less. I fail to see how it's a disadvantage in any of these "life or death situations".
      I've been in 3 self defense shootings... 2 were resolved in a single round, one took 8 as they returned fire and cover was needed. If you research average number of rounds fired, while there's no conclusive number using our brains it comes out to around 3-4 rounds. 5 in a Judge or 6 in a Governor both pass those. So statistically yes, even a 5 shot .38 gives you an advantage.
      If you had some sort of evidence to back this claim of yours up I will be happy to discuss it with you. But for now you're just parroting the masses with nothing going for you. And if your argument is or is going to be "This is better! Thats better! Those are better!" I've already prefaced everything with that yes, the Judge/Governor series are versatile and not specialized thus for many particular tasks other things will be appealing or considered better. All I've done is point out they aren't useless but it seems the "butt hurt truth" goes both ways. Fanboys get butt hurt when you say it sucks, the rest of you get even more butt hurt when I point out it's not as pointless or useless as you seem to believe.

      @@Predalien195 You must be hanging out in the wrong side of town to have already been in 3 shootings. I don't know you, and I can't confirm that's true, but with that aside, I'll stick with my G19 with 17+1 and an extra mag in my appendix carry holster. If a revolver works best for you, good on ya. But forget reloading in the heat of battle. You better hope you don't encounter more than 1 person, not to mention the UCH design is inherently slower to draw a firearm from. Also, I know you carry a revolver, but if someone wants to carry an extra mag, where do they put it? I like how most kydex holsters have a slot for an extra mag, but that's just me.

    • @Predalien195
      @Predalien195 4 года назад

      @@kamp.4466 I carry both revolvers and semi autos. I'm no more biased towards one or the other, they are all tools to me. That said, I have a rule that if I'm carrying anything with 10 rounds or less, I carry a spare. Most guns with 12, 15, or 17, I wouldn't bother personally as you'd likely resolve the situation long before you ran out of ammo but again that's just how I do things.
      As for reloading, during that last instance I had where 8 shots were fired, I had ample cover and time if needed to reload even a revolver. Probably not if I was single loading rounds, but with a speed strip or speed loader it would have been adequate. That said I had a 15 + 1 semi auto on hand at the time.
      As far as extra mags or even speed strips or loaders, pouches, kydex holsters for magazines, and all other sorts of things exist. Even for those wanting to go a little more concealable, I've seen some that tuck down in the pants like IWB holsters and don't protrude or print hardly. Options for those things are about as limited as spare mag holders which to say the least isn't that limited.
      And no, one of my shootings was a guy breaking into my house, the other was much like the last... drunk person started some mess and grabbed a gun. While the city these things happened in does have a fairly high crime rate, very few places within that city I'd consider to be extremely bad areas. I've since moved however and life is much quieter. Most of the shooting I do as before is on the range or hunting related.
