    I do this quite a lot, it saves replacing fans when the bearing gets dry. Though i don't use WD40, WD40 drives out moisture and once it too dries out the fan will sound even worse than before, nice and squeaky. I keep a small dropper bottle with vegetable oil in it, you only need a very tiny drop on the spline and it lasts ages, plus oil is totally non conductive. Another note from my experience is not all fans have the rubber gromet on the back, some are just a blank frame under that sticker.

    Super helpful, I wanted to replace a noisy fan on my HP 8200 SFF PSU and I was worried I'll have to screw around with soldering due to proprietary connectors.
    I mean the connector is PWM but it's still a lil bit different. It totally works with normal industry standard PWM connectors just have to squeeze the plastic a bit.

    Many thanks for posting this video.
    I had a noisy P/S fan in a client’s system I was working on, could NOT figure out how to get this P/S apart.
    I re-lube noisy P/S fans quite often, but this one was driving my nuts.
    On a normal tower P/S, the 4 screws that hold the fan in are just for that, like the 2 bigger screws securing the fan. I’ve never seen 2 smaller machine screws holding in a fan, and in this P/S, holding the two parts of it together.
    Once I got those 4 fan screws out, no problem with getting the P/S apart and the fan out and several drops of 3-in-1 oil into the bushing area, some spinning of the fan, and no more noise!
    Put it back together, put it back in the system, and all is good.
    Thanks again.

      It only has this fan and the one in front that goes to the CPU trough that plastic guide.
      Also, you can adjust the fan speed in bios settings, they should be kind of silent in general.

    • @gadgetsworld9642
      @gadgetsworld9642  5 лет назад

      Im going to assume you meant Error 515 Power supply fan is not detected. In which case this is most likely due to a bios error or an error with your mobo's fan controller. in which case i recommend flashing your bios and re-configuring it. If it persists it is most likely that your power supply has developed a fault and needs replacing.

    • @gadgetsworld9642
      @gadgetsworld9642  5 лет назад

      If you did mean 505 however. this is an error caused due to system files becoming damaged or corrupted. Most likely due to an update. I would recommend backing up your data to an external Storgae device and then reinstalling your OS from there. This can also occur in rare cases when a HDD is failing. in which case repeat above steps but installing to a new drive. (possibly and SSD)

    • @gadgetsworld9642
      @gadgetsworld9642  4 года назад

      you can run a jumper from the green and black entry point for the connection to the motherboard. Use an insulated jumper or insulated set of tweezzers. it should run the fans at full speed if operating properly. It shouldnt be your powersupply though. Try live booting to your computer using a linux key and see if your file directory appears. This means the RAM and HDD are fine if unable to boot its either your ram or your motherboard. If you are getting an image and do not have a graphics card pluged in it is most likely your motherboard. Hope for the best

      I'm gonna comment anyways in case someone gets a similar problem in the future and looks here.
      You know in these pc's there's an option in the Bios to change the fan speed for the cpu / front fan right? I had that at max. That was never supposed to change the psu fan speed but when I tried to put it to the lowest settings today it actually worked. The psu is back to normal again. Though I have to sacrifice my cpu fan now. It's really weird since it's supposed to change only the cpu fan speed and not psu

      But as this is a mixed job and i am unable to properly diagnose it remotely i would recommend getting this repaired in a shop. If you live in London you can come and visit us in the shop where we can give you a free quote and advise you on the best course of action.

      The easiest way i find is to run a jumper from the green and black wire on the PSU's motherboard connector (or twezers) this will trigger the fans to run full speed (when plugged in) if not it is dead. Though this is not the official way i find it to be the fastest. (Gadgets World in no way takes responsibility for actions made by an individual due to this post)
