    Hi Joaquin, What model of motherboard did you buy? if it's a pro board you should buy a "full sized tower" (eg ATX full tower) for fans and air circulation around the motherboard, the model of motherboard determines the size of the tower unit, but if your tower unit is not touching the power supply then you are fine and install the max amount of fans that case can handle. Also consider what kind of graphics card you will be installing, this too will determine the size of the tower unit.

  • @KevinColleranCHME
    @KevinColleranCHME  11 лет назад +1

    Hi Sotiris, Not with out power going to the processor there is an other 4pin connector that you must plug into the cpu ATX12V will be printed on the board beside it. Don't turn on the power until you have install the cpu fan and also remember that the cpu fan has to be connect to the board anter that you can turn on your PC to test but all you'll see is the fans turning and few lights. always always check you're Manual and double check everything before you turn on you're PC.

    Hi CoCoNuTz122, All motherboards have either a 20 or 24 pin connector for the power supply, unless it's one of those advance pro motherboards. so what i sagest you do is check in the manual that came with you're motherboard and find out in that manual where the PSU has to be connected. if you don't have the manual you can get one on the manufactures website.

    that 4 pin PSU connector could be plugged in the wrong 4 pin socket consult the manual that came with your motherboard, you'll find it on the manufactures website if you don't have it.... this is the only way to find out the correct placement for all connections.

    Hi mitsakosmitsakos, The worst that could happen is your computer will not start their is no risk to you're house or outlets because all power supply have protection just follow the manual that came with your motherboard and you will be fine all connections to the motherboard from the power supply are keyed so there is only one way for them to go in, also all other components and parts that are connected are keyed, so as i said double check your manual for connections.

  • @KevinColleranCHME
    @KevinColleranCHME  11 лет назад +2

    yes do all the above and connect up hard drive and monitor also... and then turn on and you will see that the next job is install an operating system...

      you're a pro, can I ask. why can't I update my ddr3 gt 730? I'm using i3-6100 on a gigabyte H110M mobo DDR4 and also whenever I tried to move my mouse 2x the normal speed it would go crazy like it goes everywhere. is this somehow the graphics cards fault?

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  7 лет назад

      Dirt on the light at bottom of mouse will cause the pointer to go all over the screen! or it might be a lost cause! Now updating a graphics card will not make it preform any better than it dose right now! It might be a good idea to upgrade the card, ddr3 tells me that it's a few years old this could be a good time to upgrade! especially if you play a lot of games or edit videos or any type of graphic editing! OK, hope that helps!

  • @KevinColleranCHME
    @KevinColleranCHME  11 лет назад +1

    Hi Greg, You will need the extra 4x4 pin power for the cpu cause the Adobe After Effects will require extra power for turbo when in high usage... put it will work with the just 4 pin connector but no turbo power so things will slow down when in high usage. a new power supply will not be that expensive i sagest you buy one for comfort of use...

  • @KevinColleranCHME
    @KevinColleranCHME  11 лет назад +1

    Hi AlcatrazSniper, What is the model of your motherboard i can't tell you exactly... all boards must have a processor power connection or it will not work, so let me know what model your board is and i will check for you but you should be able to find this out in motherboard manual...

    Hey Kevin, I recently bought all the parts for my new computer. There is one issue however that, my new motherboard has an 8-pin 12V ATX slot, but my PSU has just a 4-pin connector like the one you showed. Can I connect the 4-pins from the PSU to just the first 4 pins of the 8-pin motherboard slot ?
    I have an AMD FX 6300 by the way and it needs 95W TDP.

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  8 лет назад

If that's the case get a new one it owns you nothing and there not expensive. Here's a link to amazon for the extension cable if you want to go that route! computerhelpmadeeasy.ie/computer-build-components/

    I got a new zebronics Zeb 450W power supply. My monitor has two plugs one which has blue wire connected and the other one goes to the power supply (3 pin wire) .Now the new power has only one power plug. So where to connect the other wire of the monitor ?

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  10 лет назад

      So you need to get an extra "power cable" to connect to your monitor and you can connect directly to a "wall socket" you don't need to connect your monitor through the power supply, it may have been that your monitor came with your last computer and was setup in such a way that it saved on cables going to the wall socket. So the options are get the same type of power power supply that was in your last computer setup or get a "wall socket" power cable for your monitor. That's your only options... hope that helps

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  8 лет назад

      +billyhatcher643 It may take a little force to get the four pin connector in, and i know it's in a tight space and you can't get in at it but stick with it and you will get it in!
      Also try wiggling the connector in the socket first that will also help! If none of that helps then take the motherboard out again and just make the connection a few times while the motherboard is out of the case, so that you have all the room you need to get it in. Sometimes their just very tight, keep at it and you will get it in! Hope that helps, Billy!

      Kevin Colleran all I did was hook up my new psu to my hp slimline once I removed the old one and connect my 24 pin, 4 pin and connector to the hardrive. where does a monitor connect to a video/graphics card? I just connected the monitor to the back of the tower with the 2 screws on the side. maybe this is old style monitor connector. this computer if 5 years old. so in total I connect three connectors from my psu to my pc. I see other connectors. maybe they have to be connected somewhere?

      Kevin Colleran I read also that I may need to jump my mobo

      Kevin Colleran here is the latest. I jumped my mobo, re-installed my psu, I left the cover off this time when I powered it up, and noticed the fan on the brand new psu is not working. maybe I have a connector for it that needs to be connected?

      +B Charron Make sure the power switch on the PSU is on, I actually had that issue today (I was tired and the switch was hidden lol!).

    If you connect the switches to the PC does it start up? I'm very confused because after I plugged the plugs on the motherboard it won't work and there are still many plugs

    My power supply has two 4 pin connectors which will power the processor?!

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  7 лет назад

      Hi, you can use either one the two are for the cpu! if your cpu has turbo power the there will be a 8 pin connector beside the cpu and you plug in both 4 pin connectors

    I'm stuck connecting this: 1:28 from 1 hour... why it doesnt connect to me, even if i'm in the right side?? :(

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  9 лет назад

      Dany Tremila Hi Danny, some for these connectors can be very very tight so you may have it connected but not fully seated in the connector try moveing it from side to side to loosen some of then connectors it's worth a try! if that will not work for you it may be that the connectors are not lining up correctly maybe a bent pin in the motherboard connector or the power supply 24 pin connecter may be bent or not lining up, check all that and if that will not help then you may need to get an other power supply1 Some times it's just a bad power supply or motherboard connector! Hope that helps!

      AZOR AHAI yes I could but it can be caused by any component on the system so check everything first make sure everything is plugged in correctly first before you start replacing anything! Okay!

    thx for the video but now I have to figure out why my fans start and stop repeatedly.

    • @KevinColleranCHME
      @KevinColleranCHME  8 лет назад

      +Andrew Stahl all fans connected to the motherboard will start and stop repeatedly by default as the motherboard heats up and cools down this is normal behavior for fans on a motherboard they don't need to on continuously! OK!
