    I agree with this list.
    LOS is so important with snipers that if in a map that has more cqc battles, they take a bit to get into position.
    I love my Templar but I call them mobile mimic beacons for a reason.
    I would have put psi soldier higher but they take forever to train

    Psi op is the strongest class in the game and being able to generate 4 or 6 broken magus without needing experience helps to offset squad deaths in the mid game

    • @fishyfinthing8854

      The problem is you can't have them early game and they spend most of their mid game in training.

    i disagree with psi op. they saved me a lot of squad wipes just with stasis alone and not only that but if you have the right perk you can remove panic, mind control etc if you move your psi op to that specific solider (which is not that important in late game but can still come in handy). they do take a lot of training to complete but it’s worth it

    You can legitimately solo Advent Facilities with the Reaper easily. Hell, I did it today on Legend, even killed two pods during it with remote start and claymores, including a Sectopod.

    With the Psi ops they do take time to train and it's RNG how quickly you get the good abilities, but I've had Domination, Stasis and the Null Lance within first 4-5 picks, after that you can just bring them into mission and they'll do more than any other unit in the game. They can train between missions so it's not a huge deal or drag to incorporate psi op early. It's more a deal sparing research time and resources to start the training process. Psi op definitely S tier, especially on the final mission. Never had easier time than when I dominated Gatekeeper and bullied ADVENT on the UFO mission just yesterday. I used it as bulldozer to wreck literally every piece of cover I could find and revived zombies until the game started lagging.
    Grenadier with focus on nades is cool and all, but on final mission relying on this strategy will led to failed playthrough. I prefer builds that can be used in final mission, because regardless of playstyle all roads lead to that one fateful mission and there are playstyles that simply don't work there as the experience is so much different to any other mission. And I'd say Sharpshooter is OK Bring tier, because on Legendary Deadeye is just tiny bit underpowered to be comparable with Chain shot or Rapid Fire and in final mission once you run out of the free reloads it's just awful action economy with reliance on skills with too long cooldowns. Kill Zone is 4-turn and Serial is 5-turn. He has nothing else and usually you spend the next turn after Kill Zone reloading as you shot out your whole mag and can't now trigger Death from Above to give you free reload action... I just can't stand Sharpshooters anymore. Compare that slug to Rapid Fire which has no cooldown, no stupid -25% aim for +4 damage. Rapid Fire deals twice the damage of Deadeye, every turn with no stupid 3-turn cooldown or RNG whether it one-shots the 2nd Andromedon stage with bluescreens... or Grenadier that after Saturation fire still has Chain shot, Hail of Bullets or simple Holo-targeting to use until Saturation fire gets off of it's 5-turn cooldown.
    Ranger and Grenadier are SOO far above Sharpshooter I still can't believe anyone argues for Sharpshooter being S tier. They must be playing Commander or easier difficulties where Serial kills full HP enemies like it's shooting range, or idk. Specialist is pretty well placed. I hate how the best offensive tool in his arsenal is just RNG overwatching, but some people swear by that so okay I guess. It's still great action economy using Threat Assessment + firing/overwatch you get 2 shooting actions from 1 turn, that's comparable to Chain Shot in a way and you get only 2-turn cooldown on it and where it lacks in concentration power it makes up for with defense so definitely A tier ability and the whole of specialist is A tier for the well done support that he is, he just lacks offensive capabilities that would carry over to the final mission, having limited uses for combat protocol even with Mk. III Gremlin in super late-game is just extremely underwhelming, but 4x medkits from gremlin with 8 HP heal are really nice so at least that is a reason to bring 1 specialist hybrid to the final mission with healing and hacking capabilities.
    I won't comment on the DLC classes, as I haven't tried it yet and feel kind of reserved to it considering how much OP nonsense I've seen people do with it.

      Once you get the DLC's, your opinion on Sharpshooters will 180. With the chosen sniper, you'll be nigh unstoppable.

  • @fishyfinthing8854

    Templar is really good. Maybe they don't hit as hard as ranger, but they can keep doing safe and high accuracy melee attack. If you go for the swapping templar, that could open a lot of options. You can swap with an enemy to put them in the middle of your team for easy flank while templar can melee the other. They can also swap with an exposed squad mate then hit and run to safety.
    Or you can do the spell blade kind of build who amplify damage, knock enemy out of cover, melee a group of enemies while destroying their cover with Arc Wave.

  • @Shattered-Realm
    @Shattered-Realm Год назад +2

    it depends what level the sniper is at. The whole game is about cover removal so even it's a specialist hand throwing a grenade cover removal will always be there as an option. Once they get 120+ aim cover doesn't even matter all that much and many enemies don't use cover like mechs. I'd say they are fantastic to bring due to having blue screen rounds and so many shots from lighting hand to death from above and eventually just having the chosen's sniper rifle you can reset infinitely. At low levels they do kind of suck
    Templar without bladestorm is great to bring IMHO. With bladestorm and fortress he is GOD tier. the parry ability on it's own is fantastic. It's a mimic beacon for 1 enemy EVERY round for free. You can always subtract one enemy from any calculations or planning that you do this alone is huge. he eventually gets reflect and AoE damage and an ability to clone himself.
    Psi warriors are great but by the time you get them online the campaign is already resolved. Either going your way or the opposite. It's not a great option for new players because you have to sacrifice power on the avenger and elerium crystals, research time ect. It's all an opportunity cost. If you rush them you will be stuck on ballistic weapons for way longer than the game desires.
    However stasis is worth it. Super strong to just take 1 pawn off the board for a round. or to inspire somebody in a good position for another shot.

    I would put Templar a little higher. They may not have great damage but their parry lets you use them as a mimic beacon in most situations. Especially when there’s only one or two enemy units left at the end of your turn.

    Templar is the most broken class in the game and you think Ranger is better ok mate.

    • @Thelonous
      @Thelonous Год назад +31

      Pretty easy call tbh. The templar has the highest potential, with a lot of dots needing to line up to be truly elite. The ranger effectively has Parry (Untouchable) and Reaper, while carrying a vastly superior weapon to the Templar. The ranger is far more consistent. In a game of dice rolls, consistency is king. Ranger > Templar 100%

    • @BaskinTimi
      @BaskinTimi Год назад +5

      @@Thelonous Templar has parry similar to untouchable.
      Templar scales with kills and gets damage,focus and mobility.
      Templar gets to deflect or reflect(with 3 focus this makes the templar %75 chance to avoid the attack without even needing a cover if he has both of them)
      Templar gets to swap locations with an enemy unit EVEN INCLUDING CHOSENS.
      And templar has a high chance to get bladestorm ability which cant miss unlike ranger and fortress ability which is one of the strongest abilites.
      The only thing ranger is better about is having a shotgun and having an option to stealth.
      If you get the chosen weapon on your Ranger that makes him far stronger but i always prefer templar becuse his abilities are objectively unmatched except psi ops.
